Abstract: A mechanism for use in counterbalancing a shelf or the like incident to vertical movement thereof along a trackway featuring a linkage assembly and coupling assemblies for effecting a relatively large displacement of the shelf incident to a relatively small displacement of a shelf counterbalance spring. The shelf is mounted on the trackway by followers carrying a manual brake releasably engageable with the trackway.
Abstract: A counterbalance mechanism including a pair of interconnected parallelogram linkages provided with counterbalance springs, and an adjustment for simultaneously controlling the counterbalance effect of the springs.
Abstract: An improved ram air charge heat exchanger ducting system, is disclosed comprising an elongated, hollow header tank, having a generally rectangular opening therein for engagement to a header sheet of a heat exchanger core. The hollow header tank is of increasing depth from a closed end to an outlet end, and the outlet comprises an attachment ridge having a mounting surface arranged in a plane at an angle to the plane of the header mounting surface. A duct inlet has a mounting surface configured to generally mate with the mounting surface of the header outlet and, means are provided to removably attach the duct to the header outlet. This system allows variety in attachment for multiple automotive environments.
Abstract: A saddle type room air conditioning unit is disclosed wherein evaporator and condenser housings are supported in a fixed relationship by a connecting portion affording support for the housings and controlled air flow communication between the housings. Sealing devices are releasably latched to the connecting portion and cooperate therewith to completely seal the unit vertically relative to a window sill and sash and horizontally between vertical sides of a window frame. A latching device is also disclosed for adjustably releasably latching upper and lower window sashes relative to one another, as required to prevent unauthorized removal of the unit from a window opening.
Abstract: A beverage brewer and travel mug provided for brewing small quantities of a beverage within a microwave oven, includes a cup for receiving a charge defined for example by water and ground coffee, and a lid serving to contain the charge during the brewing operation, while allowing for escape of steam, and thereafter to permit transport of the brewed beverage without spilling and permit drinking of the beverage from which grounds are effectively filtered.
Abstract: In order that biological and histological sections may be produced without the risk of injury and at an expenditure acceptable for hobby and instructional purposes, a specimen arm whose distal end carries a specimen holder is supported on the base plate of the microtome. The specimen arm is attached to the base by a spindle which is mounted on the base plate such that it can be displaced in the direction of the cutting knife. An adjusting member is provided for adjusting the position of displacement of the spindle. Uniform section thicknesses are facilitated by a locking ball received in the adjusting member. A clamp is provided on the base plate for holding commercially available cutting blades at the required clearance angle of the cutting edge. Movement of the specimen arm can be brought about by means of a handle or a crank. When the specimen arm is tilted away, unintentional contact with the cutting edge is prevented by a movable blade guard.
Abstract: There is disclosed a tire shredding machine of the type having oppositely rotating rotors mounting interdigitated cutting elements, which is particularly adapted for use in the further reduction of relatively large size rubber chips presently produced by use of commercially available primary tire shredding machines. The present machine incorporates an improved segmented knife retention assembly and a stripper or knife cleaning assembly.
Abstract: A damping mechanism is disclosed for use with a displacement measuring device, such as a load cell of the type immersed in a motion damping liquid contained within a housing. The mechanism includes a shear plate adjustably supported by the housing within the damping liquid for movement towards and away from a facing surface of the load cell, which is supported for movement within a plane disposed parallel to the shear plate, for purposes of controlling the thickness of the layer of damping liquid disposed there-between. The thickness of the layer determines the damping characteristics of the mechanism.

Abstract: Ceiling panels useful for controlling fluid flow in overhead fluid leaks are disclosed comprising a generally fluid impermeable surface, having a fluid retention zone extending below a fluid collection zone when the panel is arranged in generally horizontal position, with the fluid retention zone containing a fluid outlet. The panel has channels extending from the collection zone to the retention zone, sufficient to direct fluid, flowing by gravity, toward the fluid outlet when the panel is horizontal.
Abstract: A gage for use in mounting a slack adjuster having one end having an opening adapted to removably couple the slack adjuster to a brake control shaft and an opposite end having an opening adapted to removably receive a bearing pin for rotatably coupling the slack adjuster to a clevis adjustably mounted on a brake actuating push rod, wherein the gage includes an elongated body having first and second ends, the first end having a first bearing surface adapted to engage with an outer surface of the control shaft, and the second end having a second bearing surface adapted for engagement with the bearing pin and an indicator for indicating when the position of the clevis lengthwise of the push rod provides a given angle between an axis extending lengthwise of the push rod and a line drawn through centers of the control shaft and the bearing pin.
Abstract: An improved pump casing and process for measuring fluid flow through a centrifugal pump casing is disclosed wherein the static pressure of a fluid being pumped by said pump is measured at a first point in the pump discharge inlet area of the pump adjacent the flow arm of the pump and at a second point removed along the nozzle, the pressures are compared to a pre-determined flow constant of the casing.
Abstract: A flexible sanding/deburring head adapted for driven rotation by a power tool is formed from a plurality of juxtaposed thin sheets of flexible abrasive material individually die cut to define a connecting portion having a mounting opening disposed centrally thereof and at least three projections connected to the connecting portion to extend generally radially of the mounting opening, wherein the projections are uniformly spaced annularly of the mounting opening and bound uniformly sized cut-out areas opening radially of the mounting opening and each projection is divided into parallel fingers having relatively inner ends connected to the connecting portion and relatively outer ends arranged to lie generally along arcs of a circle whose center is coincident with the center of the mounting opening.
