  • Patent number: 4770133
Abstract: A cylinder liner with a ring-shaped insert. Such inserts ensure that the carbon deposited on the fire land of the piston cannot contact the cylinder surfaces below the insert. The task to be solved by the invention is to simplify and improve the securing of such an insert, on the one hand to facilitate installation and removal and, on the other hand, to ensure greater reliability. Also, the insert is intended to be suitable for retrofitting. Essentially, this is achieved in that the ring-shaped insert is provided at its upper end with a flange that extends over the entire top cross-sectional area of the cylinder liner.

  • Patent number: 4765384
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire for trucks, especially for the drive axles thereof. In the region of the edges of the tread, the tire has circumferential rows of blocks separated by grooves that open freely to the sides. Provided to both sides of the laterally outwardly disposed rows of blocks is a practically cylindrical surface. In order to increase the capacity of the shoulder regions of the tire to withstand dynamic stresses, and also in order to increase the support surface of the tire upon soft ground, the base of the aforementioned grooves merges in a stepless manner with the lateral cylindrical surfaces. Advantageously, the laterally outwardly disposed edges of those blocks that form the edges of the tread merge with steep side surfaces that are disposed perpendicular to the cylindrical surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4760821
Abstract: At least one inlet channel (4) for each cylinder is developed as a filler channel in which there is a flap valve (13) turning on an axis (12). During full load operation, the flap valve (13) is in a rest position, which does not influence the flow through the inlet channel (4). During partial load operation, however, the flap valve (13) is in a working position, in which it shapes the flow in the inlet channel so unsymmetrically that at the mouth (6) of the inlet channel (4) leading into the cylinder (1) the compressed air flowing out in large quantities has a tendency toward spiral and/or turbulence-reinforcing directions. In this way, fuel preparation is improved during the partial load operation of the motor, leading to combustion with low smoke and noxious substance levels and low consumption.
