  • Patent number: 4813111
Abstract: A central belt lock for safety belts, especially such belts for pilots and other aviators or for parachute jumpers, for the rapid and at the same time releasable connection of several belts which come together at a central point. To avoid the problem of having to carry out, during fastening or release of the belt, operations which impair the reliability of the lock, the rotary lock member is provided with a linearly displaceable device which is operated by finger pressure. This device is provided with at least one transfer element for temporarily releasing an arresting mechanism for the connection members. The linearly displaceable device is spring loaded counter to the direction which it is pressed, and when it returns to its starting position it moves the arresting mechanism back into the arresting position.

  • Patent number: 4811847
Abstract: A package for an urinary catheter consists of a generally rectangular tray with an open top, to which a peel-back cover is bonded, containing a catheter assembly, a syringe prefilled with bacteriostatic water, and two gloves. The catheter assembly is designed such that a urinary catheter may be simply and efficiently placed into the bladder under sterile conditions. The catheter assembly consists of a heat shrunk seal to hold the end cap, three intermediate caps with antiseptic soaked sponge tips bonded to the ends, and the tube-like guide in proximity therewith. The catheter passes through the guide after removal of the heat shrunk seal and the systematic removal and utilization of the end cap and the three intermediate caps. A protective shroud encloses the distal end of the catheter, as it is bonded to the guide. A biocompatible lubricant is contained between the third intermediate cap and the guide.

  • Patent number: 4811992
Abstract: A wheel-mounting arrangement for trailer axles, including tapered-roller bearings that are disposed on an axle spindle, and a hub that is rotatably mounted on the axle spindle via these tapered-roller bearings. A brake drum and a wheel or TRILEX star can be secured to the hub, which comprises an inner hub and an outer hub that is fixedly secured to the inner hub. In order to provide the wheel-mounting arrangement with emergency operation characteristics, the axle spindle has a tapered configuration in the region between the tapered-roller bearings, and the inner hub has a corresponding, inwardly projecting, tapered configuration between these same roller bearings. The tapered portions of the axle spindle and the inner hub together form a friction or sliding bearing for emergency operation.

  • Patent number: 4812694
Abstract: A contact free magnetic bearing in which a magnetic body is disposed betw a pair of opposed magnetic poles so that the magnetic field between the poles is in supporting relation to the magnetic member disposed therebetween. Deviation of the magnetic member relative to the magnetized poles is detected and the strength of the magnetic field between each of the poles of the magnetic member is varied to establish influences acting between the poles and the magnetic member tending to restore the condition of equilibrium.

  • Patent number: 4809549
Abstract: An apparatus for metering, measuring, or dosing flowing media. A distribution slide valve is disposed in a housing between an inlet and an outlet. A metering piston is disposed in a chamber of the housing and divides the chamber into a first and a second metering chamber. The two end positions of the slide valve alternately connect the metering chambers to the inlet or outlet. Transfer passages are disposed on the periphery of the slide valve for selective connection of connecting passages to the inlet, the outlet, and the metering chambers. A transverse connection of the slide valve connects a central control channel thereof to the inlet via a first one of the transfer passages in either of the end positions of the slide valve. Each end of the latter is associated with a hydraulic control chamber into which the control channel opens. Relief passages connect the control chambers to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4810186
Abstract: A method and firing equipment for burning solid, liquid, or gaseous fuels, especially pulverized coal. The method includes the steps of tangentially introducing main fuel via main burners into a combustion chamber, where the fuel is burned, introducing reducing fuel via reduction burners into the combustion chamber to reduce the nitrogen oxides produced during the combustion of the main fuel, with the reducing fuel being burned under partial stoichiometric conditions, and, to ensure the burning-out of the fuel introduced into the combustion chamber, introducing burn-air above the feed of the main fuel and the reducing fuel, with a helically rising flow being provided in the combustion chamber. The reducing fuel of a given reduction burner is mixed, at a given distance from the opening of the associated main burner, with the curved afflux leaving that main burner for helical flow about the center of the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4802634
Abstract: A self-locking belt reel-in mechanism, especially for the safety belts of motor vehicles. The mechanism includes a belt-winding spindle that is mounted in a housing and is loaded by a rewinding spring. The spindle includes a spindle core and a spindle body, at each end of which are disposed two locking members that operate radially between an inner position and an outer position, are adapted to be surrounded by stops on the housing, and bring about a symmetrical quadruple locking. The locking members are coupled by connecting rods that are parallel to the central axis of the spindle, are disposed within the cross-sectional area of the spindle, and rotate with the latter. When self-locking is initiated via a system that is sensitive to movement of the belt and/or vehicle, the locking members mesh with the housing stops. The connecting rods have ends on which are integrally connected the locking members, which enclose the spindle core symmetrically relative to the respective connecting rod.

  • Patent number: 4802571
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying bottles that each have an annular bead on the neck of the bottle. A conveyor line, which extends over the respectively desired conveying path, is provided with a bottle carrier that extends along the conveying path, extends below the bead on the neck of the bottle, and guides the bottles in a suspended state, via the beads, with play, through a guide slot that extends along the conveying path. The conveyer line is also provided with mechanisms for providing the bottles with a feed movement for conveying the latter. To provide a considerably more uniform conveying speed, avoid bottles striking one another, reduce the consumption of energy, and reduce manufacturing expenses, the mechanisms provide the feed movement parallel to the guide slot for the bottle necks, with the guide slot being formed on the bottle carrier. The mechanisms are provided with at least one mechanically movable driving element that mechanically engages the bottles that are to be conveyed.

  • Patent number: 4800714
Abstract: A guide chain for carrying lines that supply all types of expendable material from a fixed connection to a movable consuming device. In order to provide the guide chain with a periphery that is as completely closed as possible and has as smooth a surface as possible, and in order to be able to assemble the individual parts in a straightforward manner, two basic variants are proposed. In one variant, recesses are provided in the side pieces and are respectively concentric to a pivot axis between that side piece and an adjacent side piece, with externally circular cylindrical cover elements being inserted in the recesses to cover horizontal gaps between adjacent chain links. Caps are provided to connect adjacent side pieces, with each cap having a concentric rim that extends into the recesses and grooves that interconnect the latter. Each cap also has projecting members that are disposed between stops of adjacent chain links. These projecting members limit the maximum pivot angle of adjacent chain links.
