  • Patent number: 4829758
Abstract: A combination apparatus for splicing and entwining fiber slivers. A nozzle support arrangement for the nozzles of a splicing mechanism is provided and comprises essentially round rods that are adapted to be disposed horizontally one above another, with the nozzles of the splicing mechanism opening on the surfaces of the rods via nozzle outlets that are surrounded by respective raised portions of the rods. A guide mechanism is provided downstream of the splicing mechanism for converting and bringing the fiber slivers into a flat sliver shape. The guide mechanism comprises the lowermost one of the horizontal rods, upon which the fiber slivers rest, plus two vertical guide rods that are disposed to the sides. Disposed downstream of the guide mechanism is a sliver funnel in which are successively disposed at least two pairs of further nozzles.

  • Patent number: 4829766
Abstract: A method and apparatus for disposing of particulate matter retained in an exhaust gas filter of an internal combustion engine, using an electric current source. For the purpose of good auxiliary energy utilization and minimization of equipment complexity, ignition and combustion of the particulates are initiated by the flow of current through the particulate matter itself (the particulates themselves serving as an electrical heating conductor). A suitable electrode configuration is provided to supply the ignition energy to the filter element. The electric input for the combustion of the particulates is applied via an impressed power supply.

  • Patent number: 4830346
Abstract: A hydraulically damped elastic mounting, especially for the engines of motor vehicles. To achieve, with a straightforward and economical construction, an effective, purely hydraulic damping of long-stroke, low-frequency vibrations, and a complete absorption of acoustic, i.e. short-stroke, high-frequency vibrations, a working cylinder is filled with a low-viscosity hydraulic fluid, and a damping disk mounted on the connecting rod nearly completely spans the cross-sectional area of the working cylinder. Provided all the way around on the periphery of a damping disk is a profiled shape that seals, in a substantially contact-free manner, the annular gap between the damping disk and the inner wall of the working cylinder. The damping disk divides the working cylinder into two partial chambers that communicate with one another via at least one calibrated transfer passage.

  • Patent number: 4830591
Abstract: A lubrication system for a rotary-piston internal combustion engine of the trochoid type with roller or needle bearings between the eccentric and the rotor. Lubricating oil in a dosed quantity is passed through a bore in the side part adjacent the gearing between the shaft and the pinion of the gear, from where it is supplied to the connection of the eccentric where, due to the centrifugal force, it is sprayed or splashed into a collector plate at the eccentric wall at the side of the gear. A bore leads from this collector plate to the eccentric bearing and passes the oil into the bearing under the influence of the centrifugal force. Excess oil serves to lubricate the gear and the gas seal elements.

  • Patent number: 4827988
Abstract: A foaming apparatus for driving out residual air from containers, especially bottles, that are filled with liquid material that can foam. The apparatus has a nozzle mechanism that cooperates with a control device and is disposed above a conveying section. To foam the material in the containers and to drive out the residual air from the latter as they move past below the nozzle mechanism, the latter is provided with a plurality of individual nozzles that in the conveying direction of the conveying section are fixedly disposed one after the other above the path of movement of the containers, with the spray nozzles being adapted to communicate with a common supply channel for the medium that induces foaming. Each spray nozzle is furthermore provided with a separately controllable control valve for establishing the communication of the spray nozzles with the supply channel.

  • Patent number: 4828215
Abstract: An external rearview mirror for a vehicle, with adjustment of the mirror being effected by a hand lever that removably engages in a funnel-like adjustment member that is disposed within a pivotable housing for the mirror body. In order in an operative position of the mirror to always assure a positive connection between the adjustment member and the hand lever, the adjustment member, with a resilient restoring force, rests against the hand lever in the operative position of the mirror, and rests against a stop in a non-operative, swung in or swung out position of the mirror. This restoring force is preferably effected by a torsion spring.

  • Patent number: 4827605
Abstract: An apparatus for securing straight tubes between two tube sheets in a pressure-tight manner, especially in the manufacture of heat exchangers. Tubes are inserted, with play, in bores of the tube sheets. One end of each tube is hydraulically expanded via a pressure medium to thereby press this one end against the associated tube sheet. The one end is secured to the associated tube sheet, preferably by being welded thereto. Each tube is heated in conformity with a prescribed prestress that is to be produced in secured ones of the tube to take into account subsequent operation conditions to push a portion of the non-secured other end of the tube out of its associated tube sheet until a predetermined difference in length between the cold and heated-up states of the tube is pushed out.

  • Patent number: 4825745
Abstract: An electrohydraulic control system for a hydraulic working cylinder, for example of a press, the piston of which has a main working surface and a smaller working surface on the rod side. A low-pressure circuit is provided for the feed or retraction movement of the piston, and a high-pressure circuit is provided for the loading movement at increased feed force and reduced speed. The connection or disconnection of these two circuits, when required, is produced with two 3/2 way valves that are coupled together. To control these control valves, there is provided an electrical reference motor that drives a cam disk which brings about the deflection of the coupled control slide valves of the control valves against a spring. A mechanical feedback is provided via the power piston, so that altogether a closed hydromechanical position control circuit is formed.

  • Patent number: 4825606
Abstract: A deformable sealing arrangement for the gap between the edge of an opening in a building and the back end of a vehicle that is driven up to the opening. An apron is provided, with the side portions thereof being secured to the side legs of the U-shaped frame, and with the upper, transversely extending portion of the apron being secured to the horizontal leg of the frame. A horizontal tensioning member is provided below the horizontal, top leg of the frame, with the ends of this tensioning member being secured to the upper ends of the side legs of the frame. By tightening the tensioning member, the top leg can buckle upwardly. This counteracts the formation of creases in the apron and also counteracts a lateral displacement of the side legs.

  • Patent number: 4824125
Abstract: An axial sealing arrangement in a rotary-piston engine, comprising a sealing member that is, for example, made of metal, and is inserted into a groove in one surface of an engine component while it bears against the wall of a surface of a second component that moves relative to the first component. On that surface that bears against the low-pressure side wall of the groove, and on that portion facing the base of the groove, the sealing member is provided with a rounded ledge via which it bears against the low-pressure side wall of the groove. In addition, on that side facing the opposite contact surface, the sealing member is provided with recesses which extend transversely with respect to the longitudinal extension of the sealing member, and which may communicate with a groove extending beside the rounded ledge. The recesses open toward the opposite contact surface and thus into the clearance that is to be sealed. The sealing member may be manufactured by rolling a strip between two profiling rollers.

  • Patent number: 4822140
Abstract: A rear-view mirror for a motor vehicle. The mirror housing, which is provided with the mirror body, is pivotable about an upper transverse axis into two positions (normal position and anti-glare position). In order to reduce the sensitivity of the mirror to vibrations, the housing has a supporting surface associated therewith, at least for the two above-mentioned positions. The supporting surface is curved in conformity with the pivot radius determined by the transverse axis. The housing and the holder, which is used for mounting the housing, preferably have curved surfaces which correspond to one another and via which these component parts may be mutually supported.
