  • Patent number: 4822140
Abstract: A rear-view mirror for a motor vehicle. The mirror housing, which is provided with the mirror body, is pivotable about an upper transverse axis into two positions (normal position and anti-glare position). In order to reduce the sensitivity of the mirror to vibrations, the housing has a supporting surface associated therewith, at least for the two above-mentioned positions. The supporting surface is curved in conformity with the pivot radius determined by the transverse axis. The housing and the holder, which is used for mounting the housing, preferably have curved surfaces which correspond to one another and via which these component parts may be mutually supported.

  • Patent number: 4821796
Abstract: A device for heating passenger compartments. A fan and a heat exchanger are provided in a housing. To achieve a compact construction and a greater air capacity, the fan is a radial-flow fan having a rectangular air outlet opening. The heat exchanger is disposed at one of the end faces of the fan, and the air inlet side of the heat exchanger is disposed at an angle to the axis of the fan. At least one air-guiding member is provided between the delivery conduit of the fan and the inlet side of the heat exchanger. The air-guiding member changes the flow of air emerging from the opening of the fan into an approximately right-angled or rectangular flow profile having a width corresponding to the width of the heat exchanger, with the flow striking the inlet side of the heat exchanger at an acute angle.

  • Patent number: 4813620
Abstract: A sorting apparatus for the material outlet of a machine for breaking-up scrap. The machine has a horizontally disposed hammer breaker rotor that is disposed in a housing, the bottom of which is trough-shaped. A material inlet that extends to the rotor and includes an anvil is produced at the downwardly rotating side of the rotor. An impact or deflection chamber having an outlet opening is disposed above the rotor. The housing has a curved inner surface portion in the bottom trough, and a further inner surface that adjoins the curved inner surface portion and is on the upwardly rotating side of the rotor. The further inner surface is provided with ribs that are disposed parallel to the direction of movement of broken-up scrap. The open distance between adjacent ribs is approximately equal to the greatest desired diameter of broken-up and compressed scrap pieces. Channels are formed between adjacent ribs for respective streams of broken-up scrap.

  • Patent number: 4813111
Abstract: A central belt lock for safety belts, especially such belts for pilots and other aviators or for parachute jumpers, for the rapid and at the same time releasable connection of several belts which come together at a central point. To avoid the problem of having to carry out, during fastening or release of the belt, operations which impair the reliability of the lock, the rotary lock member is provided with a linearly displaceable device which is operated by finger pressure. This device is provided with at least one transfer element for temporarily releasing an arresting mechanism for the connection members. The linearly displaceable device is spring loaded counter to the direction which it is pressed, and when it returns to its starting position it moves the arresting mechanism back into the arresting position.

  • Patent number: 4810186
Abstract: A method and firing equipment for burning solid, liquid, or gaseous fuels, especially pulverized coal. The method includes the steps of tangentially introducing main fuel via main burners into a combustion chamber, where the fuel is burned, introducing reducing fuel via reduction burners into the combustion chamber to reduce the nitrogen oxides produced during the combustion of the main fuel, with the reducing fuel being burned under partial stoichiometric conditions, and, to ensure the burning-out of the fuel introduced into the combustion chamber, introducing burn-air above the feed of the main fuel and the reducing fuel, with a helically rising flow being provided in the combustion chamber. The reducing fuel of a given reduction burner is mixed, at a given distance from the opening of the associated main burner, with the curved afflux leaving that main burner for helical flow about the center of the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4809549
Abstract: An apparatus for metering, measuring, or dosing flowing media. A distribution slide valve is disposed in a housing between an inlet and an outlet. A metering piston is disposed in a chamber of the housing and divides the chamber into a first and a second metering chamber. The two end positions of the slide valve alternately connect the metering chambers to the inlet or outlet. Transfer passages are disposed on the periphery of the slide valve for selective connection of connecting passages to the inlet, the outlet, and the metering chambers. A transverse connection of the slide valve connects a central control channel thereof to the inlet via a first one of the transfer passages in either of the end positions of the slide valve. Each end of the latter is associated with a hydraulic control chamber into which the control channel opens. Relief passages connect the control chambers to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4807540
Abstract: A ring-shaped arrangement of individual work locations. Tables which are preferably trapezoidal are arranged in a ring, in the middle of which is disposed a region which is free of table tops, and in which can be disposed common supply lines or the like. The individual work locations, which are arranged around the central region, are respectively separated from an adjacent table by a vertical partition in which is disposed a material-transfer opening. The supply of material to the individual work locations can be effected from supply bins disposed on a shelf supported above the ring-shaped table top on the upper edges of the radially directed partitions. If it is a question of small parts, the latter can be transferred to the work location via conveying tubes, which lead from the supply bins on the shelf to the table top of the individual work locations.
