  • Patent number: 4316645
Abstract: A precious metal filings collection box for use by jewelers or other tradesmen is disclosed which provides a pilfer-proof system for collection of precious metal filings which fall from jewelry or other articles as they are worked. The collection box is shown as being part of a jeweler's bench pan and is formed of a box-like unit having a screen mesh top through which the filings fall, but the openings of the screen are too small to permit the jeweler's hand or finger to pass therethrough. A locked bottom drawer which collects the filings is provided to prevent unauthorized removal of the precious metal filings.

  • Patent number: 4316340
Abstract: An improved safety mechanism for a firearm of either the single or double action type is disclosed in which a slot or hollow is formed in the hammer behind the firing pin. The hollow houses a freely pivotably mounted anvil safety, which in the safe position of the gun is incapable of exerting a force upon the firing pin. An anvil connector bar is upwardly moved under control of the trigger to positively urge the anvil safety to form a firm impact surface against the firing pin, by eliminating the free pivotal movement of the anvil safety.

  • Patent number: 4311142
Abstract: The present invention discloses a device for detecting a laser leak for electrically detecting a leakage of laser beam due to snapping of the laser guide which is provided for guiding the laser beam to a desired position. A wire or a conductor which is connected to a detector is provided at the circumference of an optical fiber or a coating material of the laser guide. The snapping of the wire by melting or by the variation of the resistance due to raised temperature or by short-circuit of the wire on account of a dielectric break-down of the coated material is electrically detected by the detector. Thus, leakage of the laser beam from the laser guide is strictly detected to secure the safety of an apparatus and an operator.

  • Patent number: 4303676
Abstract: A water based, viscoelastic composition for use in cosmetic formulations comprising, (a) a mixture of sodium hyalfractions having different molecular weights, (b) protein which is derived from the natural material from which the hyaluronate is obtained, and (c) water. Also disclosed are cosmetic formulations comprising about 0.05-5.0% of the above composition together with an emollient, a sugar alcohol, a neutral or anionic polysaccharide, a preservative, bacteriostatic and fungistatic substance which does not react with or degrade hyaluronic acid, and water.

  • Patent number: 4276289
Abstract: Anthracycline glycosides of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or hydroxyl and the hydrochlorides thereof, and which are useful in treating certain mammalian tumors, are prepared by condensing daunomycinone with the novel sugar, 4-O-methyl-2,3,6-trideoxy-3trifluoroacetamidoribohexopyranosyl chloride in an inert organic solvent and in the presence of a soluble silver salt and a dehydrating agent to form 3', 4' -diepi-4'-O-methyl-N-trifluoroacetyl daunorubicin, and removing the N-trifluoroacetyl group therefrom. This gives the compound wherein R is hydrogen. The former is converted to the corresponding hydroxyl compound by conventional means.
