  • Patent number: 7042927
Abstract: Pseudo-noise (PN) carrier suppression up-converter and pseudo-noise image sideband rejection up-converter and down-converter circuits are provided. The image sideband rejection circuits enable the use of single step up-conversion without the need for the high Q filters associated with two-step up-conversion architectures. For carrier suppression, the frequency spectrum of an input signal is PSK (BPSK or QPSK) spread by a PN signal and the spread signal is up-converted using a PSK (BPSK or QPSK) modulated carrier (local oscillator) modulated by the same PN sequence. In an up-converter, a carrier is QPSK modulated using independent PN sequences and the frequency spectrum of the input signal is QPSK spread using the same independent PN sequences whereby image sideband rejection results upon up-converting the QPSK spread signal in a mixer using the QPSK modulated carrier.

  • Patent number: 7038819
Abstract: The present invention relates to a depth of field adjustment device and method for an automatic document feeder. The automatic document feeder has a guiding groove for placing an object to be scanned. The guiding groove has a scanning window for providing image picking-up for an optical chassis. An adjustable suppressing mechanism located at the guiding groove in corresponding to the scanning window may drive the object to be scanned to pass through an optimal depth of field height of the scanning window. First, at least a part of the pre-scanned object is fed in to be located between the adjustable suppressing mechanism and the scanning window. The depth of field height is then adjusted and changed by the adjustable suppressing mechanism. And, the image of the pre-scanned object is compared with a pre-stored image. After the pre-scanned objected has been judged to be located at the optimal depth of field height, the adjustable suppressing mechanism is fixed and the pre-scanned object is sent out.

  • Patent number: 7020115
Abstract: A communication system for communication using wireless signals in a fast macrodiversity switching environment. The wireless signals include downlink signals to and uplink signals from mobile stations where the wireless signals have bursts in time slots. In the communication system, a plurality of transceiver stations have broadcast channels (non-switched) and dedicated channels (switched) for the wireless signals. A zone manager controls the fast macrodiversity switching of bursts in dedicated channels among transceiver stations. The fast macrodiversity switching causes the bursts to have time shifts that are of a magnitude to cause unwanted burst overlap. A macrodiversity timing control controls the timing of bursts, to reduce burst overlap, in dedicated channels that have been dynamically switched timing problem.

  • Patent number: 7016541
Abstract: An image processing method for facilitating data transmission is provided. An image compression method is performed to convert X-bits binary digital signals to a binary compressed data in the form of n*2m, in which n is represented by the former Y bits of the X-bits binary digital signals, m is set to the value of (X?Y), and represented by binary numbers with [log2(X?Y+1)] bits. The binary compressed data is transmitted with a sequence of [log2(X?Y+1)]+Y bits, representing (m, n), wherein m is the former [log2(X?Y+1)] bits and n is the latter Y bits. Therefore, by the present image compression method, the transmission amount of image data is reduced. The transmission time of image data and the volume of a memory for storing the image data are also reduced.

  • Patent number: 7012720
Abstract: A method of effacing zipper image, applicable to scan a document by a scanner with a stagger charge-coupled device. The nth (n is a positive integer) pixel obtained by scan on a scan line at which the zipper image is produced is subtracted by the (n+1)th pixel obtained by scan on the scan line. The absolute value of the result is then compared to a critical value. If the result is smaller than the critical value, the nth pixel is the nth pixel modified as the nth pixel after process.

  • Patent number: 7010015
Abstract: A communication system for communication with mobile stations through a plurality of base stations at macrodiverse locations and with frequency hopping (FH). Two or more adjacent base stations communicate with mobile stations in a region between the adjacent base stations using coordinated orthogonal frequency hopping sequences. The communication system operates with virtual cells formed of physical sectors from adjacent base stations. Where base stations each operate with three sectors, virtual cells use three adjacent sectors of three adjacent base stations, respectively, and the coordinated orthogonal frequency hopping sequences are used for the adjacent sectors of each of the virtual cells. For GSM, the coordinated orthogonal frequency hopping sequences in each virtual cell are defined by a single hopping sequence number (HSN) and a set of mobile allocation index offsets (MAIOs). Fast macrodiversity switching is employed in combination with FH.
