  • Patent number: 4352506
Abstract: A ski brake having at least one braking leg, which is pivotal by a force applied by a ski boot or by a sole plate to a pedal about an axle, which extends substantially at a right angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the ski in a mounting member which is secured to the ski, from a braking position against a spring force into a retracted position. The braking leg is pivotal about a swivel shaft which extends in longitudinal direction of the ski when the ski brake is in the retracted position. The braking leg has a sliding segment thereon which slidingly engages during the swing of the ski brake from the retracted position into the braking position a ski binding part to thereby positively effect a driving of the braking mandrel about the axis of the swivel shaft laterally outwardly beyond the lateral edges of the ski.

  • Patent number: 4351495
Abstract: A thread-storage and delivery device for a textile machine, wherein a hollow shaft is supported drivably for rotation on a stationary base member. The shaft drives a thread-feed member which tangentially winds the arriving thread on the surface of a stationary storage drum, from which storage drum the thread can be unwound over the drum edge through a braking ring which surrounds the drum edge and through a center removing guide which is supported on a structural part fastened on the base member, which structural part surrounds but is spaced from the storage drum. An axial guideway, for guiding therethrough a threading needle, starts adjacent to the free end of the thread feed member and continues to the removing guide. This guideway is arranged in a limited peripheral sector of the structural part. A turning handle is connected to the hollow shaft for aligning the end of the feed member with the guideway.

  • Patent number: 4349212
Abstract: A circuit arrangement embodied within the construction of a ski. A conductor plate is provided inside the ski and has at least one threaded opening therein for threadedly receiving a screw which facilitates a fastening of a base plate for a ski binding member to the upper surface of the ski. The screw is threadedly received in the opening and the base plate of the ski binding member is clamped between the head of the screw and the upper surface of the ski. The screw is electrically insulated from the base plate of the ski binding member but does provide a metal-to-metal contact with the conductor plate. The base plate of the ski binding member and the conductor plate are electrically conductive so that these two plates can function as components of an electrical circuit embodied within the ski.

  • Patent number: 4348968
Abstract: Solid fuel such as coal is fed into an inlet shaft of the furnace through a rotary feeder constructed to prevent the admission of air. Primary air channels supply the major part of the air required for combustion of the fuel in a region in which the fuel bed is sufficiently thick to avoid disturbance and the formation of "holes" by this air. Further, narrower air channels supply sufficient, diffused and low velocity air to complete the combustion of the fuel without substantial entrainment of grit and ash. Air is prevented from flowing in contact with the fuel up stream of the primary channels and the metering edge.

  • Patent number: 4348985
Abstract: An animal inhalation exposure system includes a rectangular exposure chamber, a test atmosphere source communicating with one internal chamber corner through an inlet conduit, and a vacuum source communicating with the diagonally opposite internal chamber corner through an outlet conduit. The said conduits are oriented so that the test atmosphere flows diagonally downwardly through the chamber, the portions of the chamber walls adjacent the inlet and outlet conduits, respectively, facilitating uniform and non-turbulent divergence and convergence of the test atmosphere. Test animal cages with horizontal excreta pans are preferably stacked in the chamber in offset horizontal tiers which define a plane substantially normal to the test atmosphere flow. A holding chamber shares a common wall with the exposure chamber and at least one closable opening is provided in the common wall for transfer of test animals between the chambers.

  • Patent number: 4349161
Abstract: A thread-storage and delivery device, which includes a storage drum on which a thread is wound to form a thread storage and from which the thread is withdrawn for supply to a textile machine. The drum is formed from a plurality of elongated rods disposed in a cylindrical pattern about the drum axis. The rods define an outer peripheral surface on which the thread windings are engaged. A thread-advancing device has portions thereof projecting radially outwardly between the rods for engaging the thread windings to slide them axially along the peripheral surface. Each rod is provided with a plurality of parallel narrow grooves extending axially thereof, which grooves are separated by narrow axially extending ribs. The outer free edge of each rib defines a narrow axially elongated surface section which defines a part of the peripheral drum surface and is engaged by the thread windings.

  • Patent number: 4349094
Abstract: The device comprises a cylinder-piston unit B, the chambers B1 and B2 whereof are connected with the delivery of control pump A and with the control member K2 of utilizer K1. The movable part 14 of the said cylinder-piston unit B is subjected to the influence of spring means 16 and presents a calibrated opening D, said opening being co-axial with the said cylinder-piston unit, while means 20 and 22 sensitive to the pressure building up in chamber B2 of the cylinder-piston unit B control the communication between the said chamber B2 and discharge A1. Said means 20 and 22 are combined with adjustable members 24, 28, 36 which counteract the action of the pressure building up in chamber B2 of the cylinder-piston unit B. It is thus possible to fill the actuating group K2 within a pre-determined period of time.
