  • Patent number: 4323317
Abstract: A plurality of rotatable members are formed with patterns of given shapes which permit the passage of a laser beam, and which are arranged in concentric circles about the axis of rotation of the members. Part of each rotatable member is disposed in the path of the laser beam so that a combination of the individual patterns on the respective rotatable members define a pattern to be printed or marked. In this manner, a variety of printing or marking patterns can be easily obtained by merely controlling the angular position of the respective rotatable members.

  • Patent number: 4320718
Abstract: A rubber teat holder has a head portion rotationally symmetrical with respect to a longitudinal axis and with an inlet opening for the teat, and has a holding edge for gripping over a milking cup sleeve. The head portion is formed by a wall which first gradually enlarges radially from said inlet opening in a direction along the longitudinal axis and then tapers back to a flexible suction sleeve which is connected to the head portion and is slightly conical or substantially cylindrical. Upon application of an axial force on the edge of the inlet opening the upper enlarging part of the head portion, which forms a flexible lip at the inlet opening, can move relative to the lower tapering part of the head portion around a part of the head portion, which part acts as a first spring joint. The first spring joint is formed by the wall portion approximately at the maximum outside diameter of the head portion.

  • Patent number: 4321179
Abstract: One or more polymeric peroxides and vinyl type monomers containing vinyl type unsaturated carboxylic acid monomers are subjected to copolymerization, followed by neutralizing more than 50 mole percent of the carboxylic acid groups in the resultant product, thereby obtaining copolymers having peroxy bonds therein which are soluble in water or a mixed solution of water and anaqueous organic solvent (represented as solvent D in this disclosure). The said copolymers having peroxy bonds therein and vinyl type monomers are subjected to block-copolymerization, in the presence of solvent D, whereby the said copolymers having peroxy bonds in the molecule thereof are cleavaged at the peroxy bonds thereof, obtaining block copolymers with high efficiency.Combining order of the vinyl type monomers employed in the first copolymerization and the ones employed in the second copolymerization may be reversely employed. The neutralization of the carboxylic acid groups may be carried out after the second block copolymerization.

  • Patent number: 4319435
Abstract: A wet blasting machine for permitting deburring of workpieces by utilizing a slurry of water and abrasive particles. The slurry is discharged by a blasting gun against the workpiece, and is then collected within a reclaiming tank. The top water flows from the reclaiming tank into an intermediate settling tank, and the top water is then withdrawn therefrom into a clear water tank. A multiple-section reciprocating pumping unit supplies pressurized water from the clear water tank to the blasting gun, which sucks slurry to the gun from an abrasive particle reservoir located approximately at or above the elevation of the gun. The abrasive particles are supplied to the reservoir from the reclaiming tank.

  • Patent number: 4319515
Abstract: A tuning aid for tuning musical instruments, particularly keyboard instruments, includes a sensor unit (12) which has an elongate capacitative sensor probe which is capable of extending across one octave of the instrument, and an octave switch (22) and a tone switch (20) on which are manually set the nominal octave and note of the string being measured. Amplifiers (16,24) including an AGC amplifier and controlled band-pass filters (18,26) are responsive to the octave and tone switches to select the measured tone. A divider (32) responsive to the octave switch divides the measured frequency by a power of two. A divider (38) is connected to the output of a crystal oscillator (36) to divide by a factor dependent upon the tone switch setting. The outputs of the two dividers are compared in a discriminator (34) which compares the two frequencies. A meter (50) displays the sense and magnitude of the discriminator output so as to display in terms of cents the amount by which the frequencies differ.
