  • Patent number: 4335892
Abstract: An improved base construction for a wheeled nestable shopping cart is provided by forming the base primarily from two U-shaped members. The first U-member has a planar portion disposed directly under the basket for supporting same, which portion terminates in downwardly directed rear legs which have the lower ends thereof joined to the rear wheel assemblies. The second U-member has the bight thereof forming the toe end of the base. The leg portions of this second member incline rearwardly and upwardly from the bight such that the free ends thereof are fixedly engaged with the rear legs adjacent the upper ends thereof. Side braces rigidly join the planar portion to the leg portions of the second member. This arrangement effectively prevents storage of goods on the base.

  • Patent number: 4334489
Abstract: A reversing mechanism for steerable propellers on ships wherein the direction of travel of the ship is controlled by the position of the steerable propeller. A selector switch is provided for controlling the direction of travel as well as directions forward and rearward such that when the direction of travel is to be reversed, the steerable propeller will be sequentially disengaged from the propeller driving mechanism and automatically pivoted through 180.degree. to effect a reverse operation without altering the position of the steering control. In other words, the position of the steerable propeller will be altered without altering the position of the steering control when the direction of travel of the ship is to be reversed.

  • Patent number: 4334810
Abstract: In an apparatus for the cutting, deburring or breaking of the side tooth edges of gears with one or two tools which are located on the side of a guide gear and which machine the aforesaid tooth edges. The guide gear meshes with the workpiece, and, in one embodiment, is constructed as a measuring gear. Prior to the actual machining operation, the distance between the axes of the pretoothed workpiece and the measuring gear is measured independently and is made visible, if desired, on an indicating device. In order to avoid incorrect measurement results due to burrs existing on the workpiece, the guide gear can, if desired, have recesses into which extend the burrs.

  • Patent number: 4333446
Abstract: A solar concentrator having an open framework formed as a geodesic dome. A rotatable support axle extends substantially diametrically across the dome and has the opposite ends thereof supported on the framework. The support axle defines a first rotational axis which is oriented to extend substantially parallel with the earth's North-South axis. A support post is hingedly mounted on the support shaft substantially at the midpoint thereof for permitting angular displacement of the support post relative to the support shaft about a second rotational axis which is perpendicular to the first axis. A dishshaped reflector assembly is positioned within the interior of the framework and fixedly secured to the support post. First and second drives effect angular displacement of the reflector assembly about the first and second axes, respectively, to permit tracking of the solar position.

  • Patent number: 4333612
Abstract: Apparatus for the storage of ice which includes a housing for storing pieces of ice. The housing is shaped in the form of a frustum, is interiorly thermally insulated at least on the sidewall and has a top feeding opening and a bottom outlet opening. The scratching-off device is positioned adjacent the bottom opening. The ice is scratched off and dropped continually downwardly toward a delivery station positioned below the scratching-off device and communicating with the bottom opening, where the pieces of ice are removed. The apparatus may also include a measuring device positioned adjacent the delivery station, with which a definite amount of ice delivered from the delivery station is measured out. Thus it is possible to remove pieces of ice stored smoothly, continually and efficiently.

  • Patent number: 4333594
Abstract: A planet guide roller welding wire feeding arrangement having at least two planet guide rollers rotatably mounted on a bearing part with the axes of rotation thereof defining an angle with the welding wire axis and are arranged radially outwardly from the welding wire axis. The bearing part encircles the welding wire and is supported for rotation with respect to the welding wire. The bearing part consists of a cylindrical sleeve having a slotted wall structure so that at least two parts thereof are movable toward and away from each other. The guide rollers are rotatably mounted on these two movable parts so that the guide rollers can be adjustably moved toward and away from each other. • Patent number: 4333385
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting gun sights, particularly telescopic sights on rifles, wherein the rifle is mounted upon and rigidly clamped to, a gun support which is slidably supported upon a base structure so that the rifle can move a short distance parallel with the axis of the gun barrel when the gun is fired without damaging the apparatus or the gun because of the force of the recoil. The gun support includes a pair of spaced cradles, one of which supports the barrel and the other of which supports the butt. The barrel-supporting cradle is vertically adjustable and clamp means are provided for engaging the barrel and the butt stock adjacent said cradles for firmly holding the rifle with respect to the support. This invention relates in general to an apparatus for adjusting the sights of a gun and, more particularly, to a gun sighting apparatus adapted to adjust the telescopic sight on a rifle.

  • Patent number: 4332366
Abstract: An adjustable quadrangular base, such as for a framework assembling machine, including a group of four elongated rigid elements each having a rigid boxlike member fixed to one end thereof. The boxlike members all have a substantially planar upper surface thereon, which surfaces are all coplanar. An opening extends through each boxlike member parallel to the respective upper surface and perpendicular to the respective elongated element. Each elongated element slidably extends through the opening formed in the boxlike member fixed to one of the remaining elements, whereby two of the elongated elements define a parallel pair which extends in perpendicular relationship to a parallel pair defined by the remaining two elements. The elements can be relatively slidably displaced with respect to the other elements due to the slidable engagement between each element and one of the boxlike members, whereby the size of the square defined by the upper surfaces of the four boxlike members can be enlarged or contracted.
