  • Patent number: 4326658
Abstract: A device for feeding an elongated band or strip of material in a step-by-step manner toward a material processing station, such as a punch or the like. The device includes a housing having a chamber therein in which is located a reciprocal piston. The piston rod connected to the piston extends out through an opening in the housing and is at the free end thereof connected to a clamping jaw. An adjustable stop is provided in the chamber for controlling the length of the stroke of the piston. Structure for facilitating a deceleration of the piston as it approaches its limits of movements are provided at opposite ends of the chamber. Fluid connections are provided in one of the guide rods supporting the clamping jaw and facilitate a fluid supply to the clamping jaw without the use of external hoses. The control valve structure for the feeding device is mounted on a rotatable valve block structure to facilitate a reversal of the sequence of the feeding stroke.

  • Patent number: 4325702
Abstract: A pulley with a variable working diameter, including two coaxial disks which are rotatable relative to one another, of which the one has a radial and the other at least one spiral-shaped guide groove. A plurality of support members with a segmentlike form are positioned between the disks and can be clamped with their front sides between the disks in different radial positions so that their radially outer peripheral areas define a polygonal path which is similar to a circle. The support members having projections engaged in the guide grooves of both disks so that relative rotation of the disks moves the support members radially for changing the respective circle diameter. Each support member--viewed in the direction of the axis of rotation of the disks--has the shape of an asymmetrical segment, preferably a circular-ring segment, with a longer and a shorter diagonal.

  • Patent number: 4325589
Abstract: A multi-surface friction bearing construction for a machine part, for example a planet gear of a planetary gear system, which rotates on a stationary pin or the like, the rotating machine part having a loading direction which is stationary relative to the pin. Several bearing surfaces on the circumference of the stationary pin are formed by pitch circles each having a cylindrical surface. The rotating machine part has a circular cylindrical bore. The radii of the cylindrical surfaces each differ from the radius of the cylindrical bore of the rotating part and form points of intersection with the radii of adjacent cylindrical surfaces. The stationary pin also has axially extending grooves in the surface thereof. The rotating part at least in the carrying area of its circular cylindrical bore is of a material having good sliding characteristics and a higher heat expansion coefficient than that of the other portions of the rotating part.

  • Patent number: 4325028
Abstract: In every flow passage of milk sucked out from each quarter mamma through each teatcup, a trap is equipped. The electric conductivity of the milk is measured independently by means of electrodes equipped in each trap. The difference in value among quarter mammae is obtained by performing a subtraction between the minimum conductivity selected out among these traps and the other conductivity values.Said differential value is compared with predetermined reference values. The outputs of comparator circuits are divided into three groups. When the output of any one group is below a lower limit value, the milk which gives such output is indicated as normal. If the output is higher than an upper limit value, the milk is indicated as abnormal, and when intermediate these limits, an indication of quasi-abnormality is given. Especially for abnormal and quasi-abnormal milk a warning is given by sounding a buzzer.

  • Patent number: 4324415
Abstract: A structure for a use in either an anti-crossing device for skis or a ski brake. A torsion spring is utilized to urge a projection member to an upright position on the ski. In the anti-crossing device for skis, the resilient projection member will prevent movement of a ski to the crossed position in one direction while simultaneously permitting movement of the ski in the opposite direction by flexing the resilient projection downwardly onto the upper surface of the ski. In the ski brake environment, the ski boot effects a resilient flexing of the projection member down onto the upper surface of the ski when the ski boot is mounted between the ski bindings. The resilient projection member has extension members which project below the lower surface of the ski when the resilient projection member is in the upright position.

  • Patent number: 4322960
Abstract: A machine for forming rotationally symmetrical workpieces includes a base on which is mounted a roller head carrier for a roller head, particularly a multi-roller head having for example three shaping rollers which are arranged at an angular spacing of 120.degree.. The base further supports a headstock which carries the tool for the workpiece to be shaped and a pressing tail spindle for a counterholder which is associated with the workpiece for pressing same against the tool. The roller head carrier and the headstock interconnect through a feed drive for driving the shaping rollers along the workpiece by relative movement of the roller head carrier and head stock. One of the roller head carrier and head stock is connected to the base and the other one is movably guided on the base. The roller head carrier projects on the side of the roller head facing the headstock and has a recess which extends longitudinally of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4322869
Abstract: A freely rotatable wheel assembly including a one-piece freely-rotatable annular rim having a central opening therethrough. The rim is of a hard low-friction material and has an inner surface which surrounds the opening for defining an outer bearing race. A bearing positioned within the central opening creates a low-friction rolling engagement between the rim and a shaft which is coaxially positionable in the opening. The bearing includes cylindrical rollers constructed of hard low-friction nonmetallic material. The rollers are uniformly angularly spaced around the rotational axis so that the roller axes define a circular locus about the rotational axis. The rollers are individually disposed in direct rolling engagement with the outer bearing race and with an inner bearing race defined by the shaft. A pair of annular retainers are disposed concentrically with the central opening adjacent the opposite ends thereof so that the rollers are disposed axially therebetween.
