  • Patent number: 7850666
Abstract: A port (100) for a catheter assembly (200), including a body (102) and a cover (150) and having a distal discharge port (116) for connection to an implanted catheter assembly. Within the body is a longitudinal U-shaped channel (120) extending to a proximal body wall (104) from the distal body wall (106) along a longitudinal axis parallel to the axis of the discharge port (116). The channel has a rounded bottom (122) and is also rounded at the channel ends (126,124) at the distal and proximal body walls. The cover (150) provides for penetration by a syringe needle and seals upon needle withdrawal, with the cover having an inside surface (152) concave and rounded between the distal and proximal ends and also longitudinally, being generally smoothed into the channel sides and ends. The port has no inner sharp edges or corners and eliminates blood clotting and unwanted growth sites.

  • Patent number: 7853680
Abstract: Real routable external addresses may be pooled rather than assigned to nodes and may be dynamically bound to connections by a proxy or gateway device in ways that spread apparent identity of individual nodes across multiple of the external addresses. In general, these spread identity techniques may be employed at one end or the other of a connection, as well as at both ends. In a typical double-ended configuration, the architecture and associated techniques provide “double-blindfolding,” wherein true identities (addresses) of communicating peers are always hidden from each other. In some double-ended configurations, dynamic binding may be employed at a fine level of granularity, for instance allowing individual packets associated with given connection to bear different apparent source addresses and/or different apparent destination addresses. In some single-ended configurations, a spread identity proxy is interposed between an information server and a plurality of requesters.

  • Patent number: 7846139
Abstract: An implantable venous access port for a catheter. The port assembly (100) includes a body (102), a septum (134) for needle insertion, a discharge port (150) having a passageway (154) and to which a catheter proximal end (202) is connected, and a proximal port (170) with a proximal passageway (172,116) that is in line with the discharge port passageway (154). A chamber (118) of the port body (102) fluidly connects the proximal port passageway and the discharge port passageway, and a proximal septum (174) traverses and seals the proximal passageway (172,116). An entry cannula (190) is insertable into the proximal opening and penetrates the proximal septum (174) and extends to the discharge port passageway (154) enabling a guide wire (198) to be inserted therethrough after the port (100) has been connected to the catheter (200), whereafter the entire assembly is implantable into a patient over the guide wire. A method of over-the-wire venous port placement is disclosed, and also a method for assembling the port.

  • Patent number: 7847846
Abstract: In an image sensor, the current through the in-pixel readout transistor is sensed by a circuit that is external to the pixel, and according to the measured current value a feedback current is supplied to charge the read-line parasitic capacitance. The feedback current is supplied by a circuit that also is external to the pixel area. The amplifier structure is reconfigurable so that it can be used both to read out and to reset the pixel.

  • Patent number: 7847127
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel process for preparation of atovaquone. The process includes reacting 1,4-naphthoquinone with trans-4-(4-chlorophenyl) cyclohexane carboxylic acid followed by halogenation to obtain a dihalo-compound. Further, dehydrohalogenation of the dihalo-compound produces a monohalogeno-compound which under goes hydrolysis to produce atovaquone. The invention also discloses atovaquone in a substantially pure and well defined polymorphic form designated as “Form IPCA-ATO,” and the preparation thereof.
