Abstract: An EMC active filter capable to maintain a low earth leakage current at all times, thus being compatible with RCD devices. The filter of the invention has an especially simple inductor's structure, where typically the power conductors pass straight through the filter, without windings, and most of the components can be implemented in a modular shunt circuit. Preferably the filter is realized by connecting the shunt module by an IDC device to the phase conductors, or directly to the line and load terminal, thus avoiding cutting and splicing high-current cables. The particular protection circuit of the filter prevents in-rush current at power on, and limits earth leakage current even in case of a fault in the line.
Abstract: An automatic focal point control apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a base fixed in the camera, which includes a cylindrical projection extending from a top surface thereof and into which part of a lens barrel is inserted; a bobbin inserted into the cylindrical projection on the base that includes a plurality of electromagnets around which coils are wound; a rotation body that includes a support ring rotatably connected to the outer circumference of the adaptor and a ring-shaped permanent magnet fixed onto an outer surface of the support ring and that has a plurality of N poles and an equal number of S poles alternately arranged at regular intervals; and a housing detachably mounted on the base that includes a space unit formed inside that includes the bobbin, rotation body and adaptor, and a through hole formed inside so that light and image are projected onto the adaptor.

Abstract: A system for sampling air in a controlled environment that includes air sampling devices at different locations within the controlled environment. A controller is provided at a location outside of the controlled environment and in separate air flow communication with the air sampling devices via separate first vacuum tubes, the controller having a manifold configured to separately control a rate of air flow from the air sampling devices to the controller via each of the separate first vacuum tubes and to selectively direct the air flow from each of the separate first vacuum tubes to one or more second vacuum tubes. An alarm is automatically activated at a location inside the controlled environment by one or more of the flow switches when the rate of air flow measured at one or more of the flow switches deviates from a desired value by a predetermined amount.

Abstract: A system and method for selling medical items. The system comprises one or more vending machines and a service center. The system further comprises a communications network used to allow communication between a communication device located at a vending machine and a communication device located at the service center. An individual contemplating the purchase of a medical item from one of the vending machines can consult with a pharmacist located at the service center before making a purchase from the vending machine. In one embodiment of the invention, a purchase may be made at one of the vending machines only after the purchase has been approved by a pharmacist at the service center.
Abstract: Nano-composite membranes and methods for making them are described. The nano-composite membranes a made from a layer of oriented carbon nanotubes fixed in a polymeric matrix. Methods for efficient, facile, and inexpensive fabrication of the nano-composite membranes using a filtration method are also described. The carbon nanotubes may also be modified with chemical functional groups to promote their orientation in the carbon nanotube layer or to confer to them other properties.

Abstract: A composite multi-layer substrate comprising a flat plate-like core member formed of a material having an excellent electric conductivity, an excellent heat conductivity, and a high rigidity, a front resin layer and a rear resin layer covering at least the front and rear surfaces of the core member, and a bottomless hole formed in the core member through the front and rear sides of the core member, wherein an electronic component is installed in the bottomless hole, whereby since the strength of the composite multi-layer substrate can be assured by the rigidity of the core member, conventional prior art glass cloth can be eliminated, deterioration in the electric characteristics caused by ion migration can be avoided and will result in reduced production cost.

Abstract: Musculoskeletal repositioning devices are described. The devices are worn in the mouth and cause the lower jaw of the wearer to move into an active optimal position that relieves stress on the temporomandibular joint, causing increased muscular strength and decreased muscular tension. The devices have ramps on their upper surfaces which contact the upper posterior teeth and lingual anatomy and cause the jaw to reposition from a passive bite position to an active optimal bite position. A casting device for forming a musculoskeletal repositioning device and a method for using the casting device are also described.
Abstract: A negative isolation method for separately isolating preparations of Th1 and Th2 helper lymphocytes from peripheral blood mononuclear cells involving the use of novel combinations of monoclonal antibodies to separately sequester specific Th1 and Th2 lymphocytes and contaminating leukocytes and erythrocytes, adding a magnetic colloid to the cells, and using a magnetic column for fractionation of Th1 and Th2 cells. Imbalances in the relative numbers of Th1 and Th2 lymphocytes can be used in the diagnosis and prognosis of human diseases.
