  • Patent number: 6875095
Abstract: The powered oscillated hand tool is provided having a housing and a drive unit contained in the housing having a first drive shaft 7 and a bearing 15 mounted eccentrically relative to the first drive shaft 7. A second drive shaft 14 extends from the bearing 15 and mountable thereon is a mounting platen 90 which is secured by means of one or more flexible legs 80 to the housing. The mounting platen 90 has coupling means 95 which are securable with corresponding coupling means on a first sanding platen 20 which is secured against free rotation about the second drive shaft when mounted thereon.

  • Patent number: 6805206
Abstract: A hammer is provided which enables the orientation of a tool or bit mounted within a spindle of the hammer to be rotated to the required orientation. The hammer comprises a housing part having an aperture therein in which a spindle that is mounted so that the spindle extends out of the housing through the aperture. The spindle is capable of being rotated about its axis to any of a plurality of orientations, so as to alter the orientation of a tool or bit mounted therein. A locking ring is located around the spindle which locking ring can be moved axially along the spindle into and out of engagement with the housing part, so that when the locking ring engages the housing, it prevents the spindle from rotating with respect to the housing. A grip ring is located around the spindle and can be rotated about the axis of the spindle from a first position in which it prevents disengagement of the locking ring from the housing.

  • Patent number: 6779954
Abstract: A fixed base router with an adjustable depth of cut comprising a motor unit including a first threads and an output spindle, a router bit operatively connected to the output spindle of the motor unit, an adjustment ring including a second threads for cooperation with the first threads of the motor unit for adjustment of the depth of cut of the router bit, a base for supporting the adjustment ring, and a plurality of clip assemblies for selectably coupling the adjustment ring to the base assembly, and wherein the clip assemblies are simultaneously operable by the fingers of one hand of the person using the router.

  • Patent number: 6763897
Abstract: A hand held electrically powered hammer comprises a housing, a motor, and a hollow spindle. A piston and a ram are located for reciprocation within the spindle. A casing encloses at least part of the spindle so as to define a chamber between the spindle and the casing. A damping mass is slideably supported by a spacer and is located within the chamber and is connected to the hammer housing via a spring so as to oscillate back and forth along the spindle to minimize the vibration of the hammer housing and also so as to generate air flows within the chamber for facilitating heat transfer from the spindle to the metal casing.

  • Patent number: 6745850
Abstract: A tool holder for a hammer comprises a tool holder body having a forward end for non-rotatably receiving a shank of a tool. The tool holder body defines an axially extending slot. A locking body extends through the slot for releasably engaging an axially extending closed groove formed in the tool shank. A locking ring surrounds the tool holder body and in a locked position holds the locking body in a radially inward position in which the locking body engages the groove in the tool and in a release position allows the locking body to move into a radially outward position so that a tool can be inserted into or removed from the tool holder body. The locking ring is shiftable in a direction transverse to the fore-aft axis of the tool holder body to allow the locking body to move into a radially outward position.

  • Patent number: 6739405
Abstract: A motor driven hammer comprising a tool holder and an air cushion hammering mechanism including a piston and a beat piece slideably located in a cylinder wherein reciprocation of the piston in the cylinder will cause the beat piece to hit a tool located in the tool holder, and further comprising an eccentric mass mounted for rotation about the axis of the cylinder and rotatingly driven by the motor via a gear arrangement so as to cause the bit mounted in the tool holder to be laterally diverted.
