Abstract: A dual function powered oscillating hand tool includes a drive unit 5 having an electric motor 2 and a first drive shaft 7. A bearing 15 is mounted on the first drive shaft 7 and is located radially eccentrically relative to the first drive shaft. A second drive shaft 14 is mounted on the eccentric bearing 15. A sanding head may be mounted on the second shaft 14 and may include a sanding platen 21 for random orbit sanding or a sanding shoe 20 for regular orbital sanding. Each of a first flexible group of elements, which include columns 16, pegs 50 and hollow legs 80, and each of a second group of mating elements, which include slotted posts 3, a slotted groove 58 and bosses 72, respectively, are provided for restricting the random orbit of the sanding shoe 20 to a regular orbit. The respective elements of one group may be mounted on the shoe 20 and the respective elements of the other group maybe mounted on the driving unit 5.
Abstract: A rotary hammer with a tool holder and a hammer mechanism for the transmission of impact energy onto the drilling and/or chiselling bit in the tool holder has a switching device which with a single actuator makes it possible to switch between pure drilling operation, rotary hammering operation and pure hammering operation. The switching device acts on a coupling with which the hammer mechanism is couplable with a rotatingly driven intermediate shaft, and has a slide part for shifting a toothed wheel between a first position for the rotary driving of the tool holder and a second position in which no rotary driving of the tool holder takes place. The coupling for the hammer mechanism can be separated by a cam part coupled in untwistable manner with the actuator.
Abstract: A saw blade clamp (1) comprises a body (3) defining a channel (13) for a saw blade (11), a retaining member (17), biasing means (19) for continuously urging the retaining member (17) towards the channel (13) to abut a saw blade (11) in use in the channel (13), and a release device (30) separate from the retaining member (17) and the biasing means (19). When activated the release device (30) acts on the retaining member (17) to move the retaining member (17) away from the channel (13) to allow a saw blade (11) to be entered into or removed from the channel (13).
Abstract: An electric motor (10,110,210) comprises a TRIAC (16, 116, 216) for controlling the application power to the motor and a switch (18,118,215a) for controlled cut-off of the power supply. Upon operation of a switch (15b, 115B, 215B) for short-circuiting of motor from a power supply (13, 14; 113,114; 213,214) armature the power is supported to the field windings (12,112,212) with at least one predetermined braking voltage. Upon exhaustion of a braking period, the switch mechanism operates to cut off power completely from the motor.
Abstract: An electric motor (10, 110, 210) is coupled to a TRIAC (16, 116, 216) for controlling the application of power to the motor from a power supply (13, 14; 113, 114; 213, 214) and a switch (18, 118, 215a) for controlled cut-off of the power supply. Upon operation of a switch (15b, 115b, 215b) for short-circuiting an armature (11, 111, 211) of the motor, power is supplied to field windings (12, 112, 212,) of the motor with at least one predetermined braking voltage. A braking period can be established following short-circuiting of the motor by (1) a prescribed delay, (2) comparing the changing voltage level across the TRIAC (16, 116) and cutting the power off when the voltage level rises to a prescribed level, or (3) monitoring the decreasing speed of the motor to cut off the power when the speed decreases below a prescribed level.
Abstract: A hand held router (2) includes a rotatable member (22) having screwthread engagement with the housing (4) of the router (2). Rotation of the rotatable member (22) causes adjustment of the depth of cut of the router bit (18) protruding through the rotatable member (22). A releasable detent means (30) engages with latching members (28) in the rotatable member (22) thereby to enable locking of the depth of cut mechanism.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an on/off switch for a flashlight having a reflector secured against axial motion. The reflector has a central opening. The flashlight includes a bulb with a base having an outer cylindrical electrical terminal. The bulb extends through the central opening of the reflector. The switch includes a bulb holder, with the bulb secured in and moving with the bulb holder. The switch also includes an electrical contact disposed in the flashlight so as to be adjacent and biased away from the cylindrical electrical terminal of the bulb. The switch also includes a ring rotatably disposed in the flashlight. The ring is mechanically linked to the bulb holder and includes an element disposed adjacent the electrical contact.

Abstract: A rotary hammer comprises an electric motor having its longitudinal axis perpendicular to the axis of the hammer spindle and the tool holder. A single switching element activates and deactivates the hammer mechanism and the rotary drive for the tool holder. The switching element has an eccentric actuating section extending parallel to the main axis of the switching element, acting on a coupling part to activate and deactivate the hammer drive. The switching element has a cam section acting on a slider part to engage and disengage a coupling sleeve (non-rotatable on the hammer spindle) with a drive sleeve to thereby engage and disengage the rotary drive of the hammer spindle.
