  • Patent number: 8249455
Abstract: In a WDM-PON system wherein a plurality of ONUs transfer signals by sharing wavelengths, one wavelength dedicated to a ranging procedure is set, and the ranging is performed with only the dedicated wavelength, so as to measure reciprocating delay times. At the other wavelengths, transmission signals from a plurality of ONUs are transferred in time division multiplexing based on the obtained reciprocating delay times. An OLT includes a burst receiver circuit for only the wavelength dedicated to the ranging, and subsequently to the ranging, the OLT adjusts transmission amplitudes and transmission phases for the ONUs, so as to equalize received amplitudes and received phases in the OLT. For this purpose, the OLT includes means for measuring the amplitudes and phases of received signals, as the burst receiver circuit, and it includes a table for managing the received amplitudes and received phases of the respective ONUs.

  • Patent number: 8238927
Abstract: Since the OFDM communication method does not select whether plural sectors use a same terminal as a transmission destination, or always use it as a transmission destination, giving a preference to system throughput deteriorates channel quality of a terminal in a sector boundary, while increasing channel quality in sector boundaries greatly deteriorates system throughput. In a base station, when a sector transmits to a terminal in the front of a beam, only the sector performs the transmission, and when transmission is made to a terminal in a sector boundary off the direction of the beam, a different sector transmits to the same terminal using a same hopping pattern. Thereby, tradeoff between the channel quality of the terminal in a sector boundary and deterioration in system throughput can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 8239626
Abstract: One storage area is selected from two or more storage areas of a high load physical storage device, a physical storage device with a lower load than that of the physical storage device is selected, and it is judged whether the redundancy according to the RAID level corresponding to the logical volume decreases when the data elements stored in the selected storage area are transferred to the selected low load physical storage device. If the result of this judgment is that the redundancy does not decrease, the data elements stored in the selected storage area are transferred to a buffer area of the selected low load physical storage device and the logical address space of the logical volume that corresponds to the selected storage area is associated with the buffer area.

  • Patent number: 8234542
Abstract: A storage controller detects error with relative ease when reading data from a storage apparatus. An address data appending device appends address data to each of logical blocks with respect to the data received from a host. A device communication control device determines a divisional position in every data with a size of a predetermined number of blocks, counterchanges the data in anterior and posterior parts around the divisional position, and stores the data in the storage apparatus. When reading the data from the storage apparatus, an address data checking device determines whether or not the value of the address data appended to the block read out and an expected value of the address data calculated based on the divisional position match with each other. If the values match, the data is sent to the cache memory. If the values do not match, an error is detected.
