  • Patent number: 8209507
Abstract: Using a snapshot function, a remote copy is efficiently created. Data for a snapshot is converted into a first bitmap of differential data for a remote copy. The conversion is performed in advance at appropriate chronological intervals. Furthermore, when the snapshot function splits, a second bitmap of cascade differential data, which is new differential data, is created simultaneously with creation of the data for the snapshot. This second bitmap of cascade differential data is created in the same format as the first bitmap of differential data for the remote copy. Then, when the snapshot function shifts from split status to pair status, the second bitmap of cascade differential data is added to the first bitmap of differential data for the remote copy (to produce a logical sum), and a remote copy is created based on this bitmap that was added.

  • Patent number: 8209511
Abstract: A storage management apparatus performs migration considering an I/O load that will be generated during migration between a source array group and a destination array group. To migrate data from the source array group to the destination array group, a bandwidth that is available for use between the source and destination array groups is calculated. A volume that is within the source array group, and that has a write I/O amount that is smaller than the calculated bandwidth, is selected as the source volume for the migration, wherein the write I/O amount is the information transmission amount of information that is written. Data is thus migrated from the selected volume to the movement destination array group.

  • Patent number: 8205051
Abstract: A data processing system has a plurality of storage systems. In this system, data replication is performed at high speed and efficiency while maintaining data integrity. In addition, when failure has occurred in a configuration element, the time necessary to resume the data replication is reduced. In accordance with an instruction from first host computer, updating of replication-target data and creation of a journal are performed in a storage system A, and updating of replication data and creation of a journal are performed in a storage system B. A storage system C retrieves a journal from the storage system B in asynchronization with the updating, and performs updating of replication data. When failure has occurred in the storage system B, a journal-retrieving end is altered to the storage system, and the replication data is updated in accordance with the retrieved journal.

  • Patent number: 8205199
Abstract: A queue is configured for accumulating a request to process a program component in an application server even when a naming service is used so as to enable priority control, flow control, or load distribution for component processing. A scheduler is provided between client terminals and a container server. The physical position information of the queue is associated with the logical name of the component, for registration in the naming service. The naming service is referenced for name resolution of the logical name of the component on which the processing request has been made from a client terminal, and stores the processing request on the component in the queue corresponding to the obtained physical position information of the queue. By using the queue, the scheduler can perform priority control, flow control, load distribution control, or the like for processing of the component.

Abstract: Pools of a plurality of types of storage devices are configured and are included in different layers. Based on at least one storage device of the same type, the pools of types corresponding to the type are configured. The controller in the storage system carries out storage location change processing in which the storage location of targeted data that has been stored into the targeted first real page allocated to a virtual page in a virtual volume is changed to the second real page that has not been allocated in a pool of the second type different from a pool of the first type including the targeted first real page in the case in which the controller conforms to the prescribed storage location change conditions. A size of a real page is different depending on a type of a pool.

  • Patent number: 8203380
Abstract: In a semiconductor device, a high-side driver is arranged in a region closer to a periphery of a semiconductor substrate than a high-side switch, and a low-side driver is arranged in a region closer to the periphery of the semiconductor substrate than the low-side switch. By this means, a path from a positive terminal of an input capacitor to a negative terminal of the input capacitor via the high-side switch and the low-side switch is short, a path from a positive terminal of a drive capacitor to a negative terminal of the drive capacitor via the low-side driver is short, and a path from a positive terminal of a boot strap capacitor to a negative terminal of the boot strap capacitor via the high-side driver is short, and therefore, the parasitic inductance can be reduced, and the conversion efficiency can be improved.

  • Patent number: 8204493
Abstract: A base station control portion selects one or multiple signals in accordance with the state of radio waves from signals received through multiple communication paths. A wireless communication apparatus communicates with a wireless terminal and a wired communication network at multiple frequencies. In response to a request for software upgrading from a network management device, the wireless communication apparatus selects one frequency, controls the state of transmission waves of a wireless interface such that a communication path in which a communication service is being provided can be switched to another communication network without interruption, rewrites software for each wireless interface to software received through a wired interface in advance, and returns the state of transmission waves of the wireless interface. Thus, the software can be upgraded without blackouts of the communication service to the wireless terminal.

  • Patent number: 8201022
Abstract: A server to be changed is added to a destination unit in terms of configuration. The server to be changed is started to restore the database in the database storage region to which the server has access and to restore the transaction for the process that was executed when the server failed. The destination of the failed server (a system destination unit) when failure occurs is determined to stabilize the throughput of the entire system after the switchover of the system in the event of failure. The destination server is determined according to an instruction given in advance by the user. The database management system statistically determines the destination server in accordance with a policy designated by the user. Alternatively, the database management system dynamically determines the destination server according to the policy designated by the user when failure occurs.
