  • Patent number: 6400887
Abstract: An SDDI signal in accordance with an AV signal is selectively recorded in an MO disc 6 of a portable AV editing apparatus 1 from a hybrid recorder 20 provided with an on-line editing function. The user carries the portable AV editing apparatus 1 around separate from the hybrid recorder 20 and uses the SDDI signal recorded in the MO disc 6 to perform off-line editing and prepare an EDL (edit decision list). This EDL is transmitted from the field to the station. The EDL is used for on-line editing at the station.

  • Patent number: 6389224
Abstract: It is made possible to record, on a recording medium on which original image data before compression is recorded, data resulting from a first coding processing performed when coding the data by a variable rate compression and coding system and to code quickly in real time when performing a second coding processing from that recording medium. Video data is reproduced by a VTR 300 from a master video tape 10 on which source video data is recorded and the first coding processing is carried out at a compressing and coding apparatus 100. The bit rate, allocation data, etc. obtained by this coding processing are stored in a predetermined region of the master video tape 10 via the VTR 300. When the master video tape 10 is used, the second coding processing can be quickly carried out without reading the bit rate data etc. from another apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6381373
Abstract: A system for processing digital image signals to reduce the effect of quantizing noise in the images represented by the signals. An n-bit image signal is converted into an m-bit image signal (m>n). The high frequency content of the m-bit signal is estimated and then first and second multipliers are derived on the basis of the high frequency content. The first multiplier is applied to the m-bit image signal, the second multiplier is applied to a filtered version of the m-bit image signal, and the two resulting signals are combined to generate a reduced quantizing noise m-bit image signal.

  • Patent number: 6377745
Abstract: Images of reproduced video data of plural channels are displayed on main small screens arrayed in a central horizontal row on an index picture. Time-serially anterior images of reproduced video data are displayed on two upper small screens above the main small screens, while time-serially posterior images of reproduced video data are displayed on two lower small screens below the main small screens. In a forward reproduction mode, the images displayed on the respective small screens are altered, with a lapse of time, to the lower adjacent images while being cross faded. And in a reverse reproduction mode, the images are altered, with a lapse of time, to the upper adjacent images while being cross faded. A normal reproducing operation is started from a desired image when the main small screen, where the desired image is being displayed, is selected by means of a cursor. Thus, any image of video data can be indexed efficiently.

  • Patent number: 6363212
Abstract: Digital video data encoder and decoder operate to enable the low and high speed reproduction of variable rate encoded digital video data by reproducing and decoding intraframe encoded frames that are identified by previously reproduced intraframe encoded frames. In the encoder, digital video data is variable rate encoded, for example, intraframe and interframe encoded, entry points (i.e., beginning positions) of selected encoded video data are identified and which represent video frames that occur at predetermined intervals of time (e.g., 1, 2 and 4 seconds) in the video picture. Entry point data that identify these positions are generated and added to the encoded video data before the video data is recorded on a record medium. When the encoded data is reproduced from the record medium, the entry point data is extracted therefrom and stored, and a successive intraframe encoded frame identified by the extracted entry point data is reproduced and decoded.

  • Patent number: 6339677
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a picture signal recording and reproducing apparatus by which adjacent normal picture elements can be reproduced even when there is a hard disc in trouble. The picture signal recording and reproducing apparatus of the present invention records adjacent picture element data in different data hard discs (72) by a picture element insertion processing block (10), when writing the picture signal data in 7 pieces of data hard discs (72), and it returns the picture element data of the picture signal data to the adjacent picture element data by a picture element deletion processing block (12), when reading out the picture signal data. Therefore, the probability that adjacent picture elements are read out in a normal state, is high even when either of the data hard discs (72) is in trouble, so that the quality of the reproduced picture can be improved.
