Abstract: A protective garment of layered material in which an inner layer is spun bonded olefin and an outer layer is of a bondable film. Seams are constructed by overlapping regions of material with an outside and inside surface adjacent, and by bonding via the continuous application of ultrasonic heating and spaced application of pressure.
Abstract: A coin sorter in which a sorting head is positioned over a rotating pliable disc and wherein coins are sorted by the combination of an outwardly extending tapered edge and a series of pins generally positioned in an outwardly extending line spaced from the tapered edge. The spacing between the line of pins and tapered edge increases with outward dimension, whereby coins of different diameter are urged over the tapered edge by different pins at different positions. The coins are then captured between the head and pliable disc and rotated to exit positions which are unique for each coin about the outside of the sorting head.
Abstract: A logic circuit tester wherein high and low threshold signal states and transitions through them are detected. The presence or absence of any of these four states is used to provide combinations of logic signals to an L.E.D. dot matrix display unit encoded to respond with a series of 11 patterns, each of which is illustrative of a circuit state likely to be encountered.
Abstract: A method for bonding seams in protective garments without use of any stitching, by applying high-frequency ultrasonic waves of pressure to overlapping edges of fabric of non-woven spunbonded olefin or polyolefin having laminated to one side thereof a polyethylene or polyvinylidine chloride film.
Abstract: A log splitter in which a log splitter beam is rotatably attached to a rear upright frame of a wood transporting trailer. The beam is rotatable between a vertical position which is maintainable for splitting operation and a diagonal position where it is secured during over-the-road operation of the trailer.

Abstract: A public-key system for encoding, or encrypting, digital data wherein at least two singular matrices of binary bits provide separate encrypting factors. Each matrix is a product of a common singular matrix and a differing non-singular matrix. These encrypting matrices are loaded in separate memory formats. A Vernam or one-time key consisting of blocks or sets of randomly-generated binary bits are loaded into an input shift register, and the state of each stage is coupled as an enabling signal to gates which read out rows of each of the two stored matrices. Groups of outputs from gates serving each of the matrices are combined via column arranged, exclusively-OR gates fed, in parallel, to a shift register. The output of one shift register forms an encrypted decrypting signal. The output of the other shift register is exclusively-ORred in the manner of a one-time key with the binary encoded plaintext to be encrypted. As thus encrypted, it is transmitted with the decrypting signal to the addresses.
Abstract: A sawmill in which a multi-log supporting mechanism is constructed wherein logs are grasped at spaced angular positions about the mechanism and rotated by it between an initial receiving position to a profile measurement position and then to a sawing position. The end-to-end axis of the supporting mechanism is adjustably oriented with respect to a saw in terms of profile measurements and size of lumber determined to be cut from a log. Directionally, this adjustment is made normal to the profile measurement dimension.
Abstract: A conveyor belt dewatering system in which a siphon tube or pipe is vertically moveable on a tubular support whereby selectively its inlet is lowered into a conveyor belt. Counterweights counter the weight of the siphon tube, these weights being positioned in the tubular support. A source of service water is turned on by a float switch sensing water is the conveyor belt, the service water being used to submerge the weights and lessen their effect and at the same time be supplied to the siphon tube to increase its weight, whereby a siphon tube is lowered into the conveyor belt and siphoning from it commenced.
Abstract: A communications system wherein an intelligence signal modulates the spacing of relatively narrow pulses of a fixed rate pulse train, and these pulses key on a transmitter which employs a pair of series connected avalanche mode operated transistors. These are repetitively powered via a charged coaxial delay line, and the output, appearing across a resistive load, is fed directly, or through a shaping filter, to a discone transmitting antenna. At a receiving location, the received signal is amplified by a wide band amplifier and fed through a reverse contoured filter (of the transmitting filter, if one is employed). The signal is detected via synchronous detection which locks onto the received pulse train, after which the modulation evidence by the pulse train is recovered by a low pass filter.
Abstract: A control system for controlling the elevation of a cutter of a longwall shearer in which the attitude of the body of the shearer and the rate of change of attitude with longitudinal movement of the shearer are monitored and the elevation of the cutter is varied as a function of the sum of the product of a first constant times attitude and the product of a second constant and the rate of change of attitude.
Abstract: A sewer flow measurement method and system for determining flow conditions of a sewer line system wherein separately located monitors make and record precisely synchronized and time identifiable pressure measurements, utilizing pressure-to-signal transducers positioned on the bottom of pipes where they exit into manholes. A cassette recorder records the different pressure related signals from the monitors together with a discrete identification signal from each monitor. The outputs of the recorder are then fed to a pressure-to-flow computer which provides location identified, time synchronized, flow data for the system.
Abstract: A printer ribbon cassette of the type employing two ribbon spools. In this one, the ribbon is driven by a belt engaging the spools and, in turn, the belt is engaged by both of two alternately driven drive rollers and wherein each drive roller, when it is driven, effects removal or unwinding of ribbon from the spool with which it is directly associated.
