  • Patent number: 4811873
Abstract: A pleating machine having a frame supporting two pairs of rollers formed with intermeshing teeth. Each pair is comprised of upper and lower intermeshing rollers, with a roller of the first pair intermeshing with a roller of the second pair to form a continuous train of gears. Each roller is provided with registering circumferential grooves along the length thereof. A needle having a pointed tip end and an eye end is disposed in "floating" relation in the machine with its pointed end positioned between the first pair of rollers (entrance rollers) and with its eye end extending just beyond the second pair of rollers. The needle is provided with a predetermined length which extends from the pointed tip to the eye end of the needle which is disposed proximate an arc prescribed by rotation of a point on the outer periphery of the lower of the second set (exit) of rollers.

  • Patent number: 4798510
Abstract: A concrete bucket assembly which is rigidly mounted for vertical, tilting, and rotational movement to a forklift vehicle. The concrete bucket is provided with upper and lower ball and socket assemblies. The lower ball and socket assembly secures the bucket to the extending fork of the vertically movable frame of the forklift truck. The upper ball and socket assembly secures the bucket, at the top thereof, to an arm which extends from and is pivotally secured to the vertically movable frame of the forklift vehicle. The hydraulic system of the vehicle is used to move a closure member at the funnel-shaped bottom of the bucket and to also control movement of a chute at the bottom of the bucket.

  • Patent number: 4790675
Abstract: A printer ribbon cartridge of the type employing two ribbon spools mounted in spaced relation in the cavity formed in the case of the cartridge. The ribbon is driven by a belt engaging the spools. The belt is rotated over the spools by rotation of a predetermined drive wheel of two spaced sets of two intermeshing drive wheels. Means are provided for operating the cartridge in various printers having drive locations of varying spatial location as well as direction of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4791547
Abstract: A measurement and control system for employment with a plurality of significantly spaced process access locations wherein a single cable extends in a loop by these access locations, and both ends of the cable are terminated at a central controller. The cable consists of a solid, conductive, outer housing and four spaced conductors within the housing, the housing being otherwise filled with a dielectric material. Data units are positioned at each access location, and each data unit is configured to supply and receive, or one of the other, discrete data by being coupled to the cable, two of the conductors of the cable furnishing power for the data unit, and the other two providing communications. Certain of the data units employ transducers to measure a single physical state. Outputs from these transducers, in analog form, are serialized, converted to digital data, cross-compared to determine off scaled readings, and the good readings averaged.

  • Patent number: 4787544
Abstract: A dancer roller apparatus for controlling tension in a sheet material as the sheet material is wound between a pair of rollers. The apparatus includes a housing having a cavity, an entrance, and an exit opening communicating into the cavity for passage of the sheet material into and out of the cavity. The cavity is provided therein with a pair of end arcuate surfaces and a guide channel which is disposed adjacent the end arcuate surfaces. An elongated movable roller is positioned in the cavity atop the sheet material for applying a tension to the sheet material between the entrance and exit openings. The roller includes end arcuate surfaces for closely fitting in the end arcuate surfaces of the housing. A first gear segment is secured to the arcuate ends of the roller, and a gear rack is movably carried in each of the guide channels for meshed relation with the first gear segment.

  • Patent number: 4765574
Abstract: An adjustable device that provides a secure anchor in a crevice or other irregularity. The anchor may be used to assist rock climbers, rescue groups, military personnel, construction workers, etc. The device is comprised of a spring loaded sleeve mounted on a first end of a threaded shaft and limited in its movement on the shaft by a pin and slot arrangement. The sleeve provides a means for adjusting the length of the device. A first locking means releasably secures the sleeve in a retracted position, and a second locking means secures the sleeve at the desired extended position. A lever assembly is provided at the second end of the device in such a manner that a force applied to an attachment point of the assembly will be translated along the longitudinal axis of the device.

  • Patent number: 4756479
Abstract: A flush hydrant for purging waterline systems of subdivisions, rural districts, etc. The flush hydrant is used in lieu of a typical fire hydrant for purging such waterlines of foreign matter which may have infiltrated the waterline system as a result of line breakage. The flush hydrant includes a barrel generally having an upper portion extending above ground and a lower portion below ground. The hydrant includes a ball valve assembly mounted in the lower portion of the barrel and an operating rod extending above ground from the valve assembly. The rod operates a closure member in the ball valve between open and closed positions. The closure member is provided with a primary passageway to direct water into the barrel and out of a nozzle secured thereto, and, with secondary passageways to drain water from the barrel to the outside of the assembly after the valve has been closed by the closure member.

  • Patent number: 4754676
Abstract: A device for removing the perforated guide edges from computer paper by a shearing action. The computer paper is supported on a support plate of a first frame, with the line of perforations substantially aligned with a shearing edge provided on the distal end of the support plate. A shearing mechanism is slidably mounted for vertical movement in a second frame which is secured to the top of the first frame. The shearing mechanism includes a shear plate which is movable downward for engagement with the computer paper along the line of perforations where application of an additional force to the shear plate results in clearly shearing the perforated edges from the computer paper. Springs bias the shear plate upwardly for another shearing operation.
