  • Patent number: 4210199
Abstract: A heat exchange system having a first tube system of tubes which are interconnected to conduct a first fluid and a second tube system comprising tubes surrounding the tubes of the first system to conduct a second fluid in heat exchange relationship with the first fluid, the preferred embodiment of the tubes of the first system being double walled and shaped to provide a passage for the escape of any fluid leaking from an opening occurring in either the inner or outer wall of the tubes of the first system. In the preferred embodiment, the double walled tubes are concentric tubes spaced radially to permit formation of a spiral groove on one tube, preferably the outermost, which provides a spiral path between said tubes which is open to atmosphere at the ends. Detachable return elbows interconnect adjacent ends of the innermost tubes to effect a continuous path for the fluid therein and the elbows at one end are removable to facilitate cleaning said tubes.

Abstract: A structural member comprising a sheet of industrial material in which is formed a plurality of dome-like projections of which at least the major portion of the configuration thereof in plan view is circular and said projections being located in the plane of said sheet in a structurally strategic geometric pattern which repeatedly blocks straight lines of vision across said sheet through said pattern of projections in all directions to form a one-piece rigid structural member capable of resistance to flexure and the intermediate portion of the sheet between said projections comprising arcuate continuous structural stress-resisting sections extending between the opposite edges of said member. Variations in patterns of projections comprise different embodiments of said member and, when fabricated, said member lends itself to a variety of end uses. When in the form of a composite panel, a flat sheet of planar material is affixed to the upper ends of said projections.

  • Patent number: 4202422
Abstract: A safety lock for an agricultural windrower and/or conditioner comprising a self-propelled machine having a pair of drive wheels respectively powered by individual hydraulic motors each powered by separate hydraulic pumps driven by a fuel powered motor, the pumps being variable for driving the motors at desired speeds and directions to comprise a hydrostatic steering system for said machine, said pumps being variable by a rotatable steering wheel, and a speed control level also is movable to cause actuation of both pumps equally and also actuates lock pins which secure the steering wheel in neutral position. The safety feature is effected by the speed control lever being biased into a latching notch when the steering wheel is moved to neutral position and thereby moves the lock pins automatically into locking position relative to holes in plates associated with linkage between the column of the steering wheel and said hydraulic pumps.

  • Patent number: 4198975
Abstract: A hypodermic syringe which is self-injected has a substantially T-shaped frame of which the stem depends from the top portion to comprise a handle and a syringe carriage slides along said top portion initially by means of a tension spring. A sear holds the carriage retracted against the spring but, when released, the spring shoots the syringe and carriage forwardly a limited distance adequate to inject the needle of the syringe into flesh. A finger-operated trigger, of which two embodiments are provided, when pushed inwardly into the handle actuates a sear release during the short initial movement of the trigger and continued movement thereof moves a slide forwardly along the top of the frame against the outer end of the syringe plunger by means of motion-multiplying means to provide greater movement of said slide for a much lesser movement of said trigger.

  • Patent number: 4196538
Abstract: This invention comprises a fish holding apparatus especially adapted to hold eels, catfish, and the like, by arranging an elongated box to be supported vertically and having a slide at one end adapted to serve as a cutting board and also having serrated gripping members at one end which coact with a fixed serrated gripping member attached to one side of said end of the box for coaction with the gripping members on the slide. The opposite end of the box also has a foot engageable member to hold the box steady while the slide is being manipulated from an open position in which the fish is extended into the box with the exception of the head and the slide is then moved to engage the head between the serrated members referred to above in order that the mouth of the fish is positioned for removal of the hook therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4194289
Abstract: A pneumatically operated system for controlling the supply of water and/or water and air simultaneously to an air turbine-type dental handpiece, either to only drive the handpiece or drive it and simultaneously provide a spray. Two foot-actuated valves respectively controlling the supply of air to a handpiece are connected to a source of air under pressure and are respectively connected to a compound servo-control valve including a spool operable in a housing between various inlet and outlet ports for air which, when one foot-actuated valve is opened, will cause the spool to move from an initially inoperative position to afford delivery of drive air only to the handpiece and when the second foot-actuated valve is opened, additional air is by-passed at the same spool setting from one part of the housing to another part containing a normally closed water valve connected to water under pressure and opened by said additional air which actuates a small piston that engages said water valve to open it.

Abstract: A double bay industrial saw having delivery mechanism to receive timber cants of substantial size selectively directed to either saw bay where a single source of power operates multiple saw systems respectively operable to produce different types of boards with different edge configurations simultaneously as selected and desired. The cantilever type of pairs of arbors at opposite sides of a central housing respectively support sets of cooperating saw blades on driven arbors separately driven and supported upon separate arbors, and chippers if required to form edge configurations are also mounted upon said arbors, whereby the saws produce finished cuts in the cants to form completed products at the delivery end of the machine. Various feed rollers and cooperating pressure rollers insure positive feeding of the cants to and through the sawing regions of the machine.
