  • Patent number: 8158243
Abstract: A method for preparing a polymer-organoclay composite composition comprises combining a solvent and an unexfoliated organoclay to provide a first mixture, wherein the unexfoliated organoclay comprises alternating inorganic silicate layers and organic layers, and has an initial spacing between the silicate layers; exposing the first mixture to an energized condition of a sufficient intensity and duration to increase the initial spacing of the inorganic silicate layers, to provide a second mixture; contacting the second mixture with a polymer composition so that the polymer composition fills at least one region located between at least one pair of silicate layers, wherein the polymer composition is at least partially soluble in the solvent; and removing at least a portion of the solvent from the second mixture, wherein the inorganic silicate layers remain separated by the polymer after removal of the solvent.

  • Patent number: 8159143
Abstract: A light generating module includes a light emitting part and a power supplying part. The light emitting part includes a first region and a second region. First and second lights having different wavelengths from each other are generated in each of the first and second regions. The first region is an outermost region of the light emitting part. The power supplying part applies different currents to the first region from the second region to generate the first and second lights having different intensities from each other. Therefore, color uniformity is increased so that an image display quality is improved.

  • Patent number: 8160375
Abstract: Lossless image compression is performed by receiving and opening an original image file representing an image. A pixel path is determined in the image by analyzing one or more complex structures in the image. The one or more complex structures are represented using a mathematical expression. Each of the pixels along the determined pixel path is replaced to minimize the complex structure, thus providing a compressed image file having a smaller file size than the original image file. A comment is inserted in the compressed image file specifying the determined pixel path. The compressed image file is stored on a computer-readable storage medium.

  • Patent number: 8159797
Abstract: An input terminal is externally input with an input voltage. An output transistor of N-channel MOSFET is arranged between the input terminal and an output terminal. A charge pump circuit steps up the input voltage. An error amplifier receives a voltage stepped up by the charge pump circuit as a power supply, and outputs an error voltage of a feedback voltage corresponding to an output voltage of the output terminal and a predetermined reference voltage to a gate of the output transistor. A controller compares the input voltage with a predetermined threshold voltage, and forcibly turns OFF the output transistor when the input voltage is higher than the threshold voltage.

  • Patent number: 8161091
Abstract: A method for performing a decimal floating point operation including receiving a first operand having a first coefficient and a first exponent into a first register. A second operand having a second coefficient and a second exponent are received into a second register. An operation, either addition or subtraction, associated with the first operand and the second operand is received. Three concurrent calculations are performed on the first operand and the second operand. The three concurrent calculations include: applying the operation to the first operand and the second operand based on a first assumption; applying the operation to the first operand and the second operand based on a second assumption; and applying the operation to the first operand and the second operand based on a third assumption. A final result is selected from the first result, the second result and the third result.

  • Patent number: 8159151
Abstract: A reference voltage source generates a reference voltage for adjusting an electric current for a dimming operation. The first current source generates a first current. A first current mirror circuit includes multiple output terminals, duplicates the first current, and outputs multiple first duplicated currents via the multiple output terminals. Multiple first switches are provided on paths for the respective multiple first duplicated currents. A converting resistor, with one terminal set to a fixed electric potential, is provided on a path for the multiple first duplicated currents output from the first current mirror circuit. A decoder circuit receives a control signal from an external circuit, and controls the ON/OFF operations of the multiple first switches. The reference voltage source outputs, as the reference voltage, a voltage that corresponds to a voltage drop that occurs at a converting resistor.
