  • Patent number: 4078121
Abstract: The invention relates to a stopper with valve for a storage battery which permits the gases evolved by the storage battery to escape only above a precise specific pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure. The valve includes a diaphragm clack maintained gripped in a fluid-tight manner at its periphery, between the body of the stopper and a hood which covers a calibrated spring normally keeping the valve closed. The hood is secured on the body solely by ratchet engagement of these two members which have corresponding frustoconical surfaces and of which at least one is deformable. The stopper with valve is for application to fixed or starting storage batteries in order to lessen the consumption of water in the batteries.

  • Patent number: 4048937
Abstract: A cargo vessel suited for cargo handling in a horizontal plane has a deck and a submersible pontoon, subdivided into cells, and connected to the pontoon by a number of pillars. The pontoon can be trimmed to provide an excess of buoyant force but anchors will, during transfer of cargo, maintain the deck stable and level with an embankment. A side plating having openings, and hatches for temporarily closing the same, encloses a space between the pontoon and the deck to provide stability during a voyage.

  • Patent number: 4049489
Abstract: Environmental regulations tend to restrict the emissions from pulping platns, which increase the amount of sulphur and chlorine in the cooking liquor to undesirable amounts. This is detrimental to the process and increases the risk of corrosion upon the furnace walls. According to the invention certain metals, preferably iron and/or aluminum are burned together with the waste liquor, and will form compounds with the sulphur and the chlorine, respectively, which are easily separated from the chemicals taking part in the normal process cycle.

  • Patent number: 4049345
Abstract: Apparatus for exposing an image of a desired pattern, such as a lead frame pattern for producing lead frames of IC devices, with a predetermined pitch on a photosensitive beltlike material consisting of a film carrier and a photoresist-coated metallic foil laminated on the carrier.Apparatus typically comprises a first means for positively supporting and accurately positioning the beltlike material at an exposing position, a second means for intermittently conveying the material and a third means for photoelectrically detecting the amount of the movement of the beltlike material to control the first and the second means.

  • Patent number: 4045902
Abstract: A fastening device for stably mounting a fishing reel to a fishing rod by the fastening action of a pair of cooperating sleeves, one fixedly and the other axially slidably mounted on a main cylindrical body which is attached to the fishing rod. The shape of a hood possessed by each sleeve is so improved as to stably and snugly fasten the foot of the reel, allowing very limited horizontal displacement of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4046242
Abstract: A vending machine having a number of compartments is operable by a check ticket, which is inserted in a slot in the machine. Each compartment is blocked by a gate plate, which is swingable outwards/upwards to permit the removal of the goods. This movement is, by way of a linkage, transferred to an embossing mechanism, which makes a mark upon the ticket at a particular spot for each compartment being opened. The linkage includes a catching device which prevents operation unitl a detent therein is magnetically operated by the check ticket.

  • Patent number: 4046170
Abstract: In a loom comprising a shedding harness with heald frames for forming two superposed sheds in incoming warp, weft inserters for traversing weft through said sheds, a reed for heating up the weft whereby to form upper and lower fabric, and a breast beam having upper and lower edges over which said upper and lower fabrics are taken off, respectively, there is provided a rectilinear elongate transverse member which may be a rigid rod or a tight thread and is supported through its two ends, for example by fixture thereof to two supports integral with the loom frame, across the space included, on the one hand between the two sheds and, on the other hand between the leading heald frame of the shedding harness and the location of the reed in the back position.

  • Patent number: 4030437
Abstract: A floating dock which includes a bottom portion which is about one half of the length of the largest ship to be considered, but substantially narrower than the ship, a short stem portion at one end of the bottom portion, and a U-shaped stabilizing body at the opposite end. The stabilizing body preferably is separate from the bottom portion, whereas the stem portion is integral therewith.

  • Patent number: 4026523
Abstract: The invention relates to hydraulic jack operating systems. The end-of-stroke damping of the jack is produced by an element of the shape of a truncated cone, integral with the stem of the jack, which penetrates into a floating ring and which defines, in this ring, a damping chamber isolated from the remainder of the capacity of the jack. When the stem of the jack makes its return movement, the chamber is re-supplied with oil through passages which were previously obturated by the displacement of the ring at the instant of the damping. The invention is applicable to high speed hydraulic controls for circuit breakers with ultra-rapid operation.

  • Patent number: 4026602
Abstract: An apparatus designed especially for mechanically breaking up reinforced concrete and comprising a cylinder containing a hydraulically-operated piston connected to a thrust wedge and acting upon two insertion pieces to be inserted in a borehole in the reinforced concrete or in stone. In order to avoid excessive wear and tear on the components by reducing the stresses to which they are subjected, the apparatus comprises a bracing part rigidly joined to the cylinder by tie plates, and the two end faces of the insertion pieces remote from the cylinder are braced against this bracing part, through which the thrust wedge passes when the apparatus is in operation. Thus the end faces of the insertion pieces can slide on the surface of the bracing part when they are driven apart by the advancing wedge.

  • Patent number: 4003682
Abstract: A rotary piston engine is disclosed of a novel, geometric construction whereby substantially pressure dependent operation is ensured along with continuous torque characteristics. In the preferred inventive embodiment, an elongated rotatable shaft having a disc plate intermediate thereof is provided with a pair of rotor assemblies disposed to either side of the disc plate and attached for rotation as a unit, each rotor assembly including an inner and an outer concentrically arranged ring of different diameters with a radially extending piston vane disposed therebetween in linking relationship therewith. A slotted intermediate ring is placed between the inner and outer rings of each respective rotor assembly, the intermediate ring being journalled off-center of its respective rotor assembly such that the intermediate ring effects a rolling contact seal with both the inner and outer rings of the rotor assembly during rotation thereof.
