    Abstract: A cathode ray tube includes an evacuated envelope having a substantially rectangular faceplate panel with two diagonal axes that extend between the opposing corners of the panel. The panel includes a mask-frame assembly having a frame with two opposing long sides and two opposing short sides forming a continuous mask support frame. The frame is mounted within the tube by brackets located near the corners of the frame. Each bracket is adjustably secured along the short sides of the frame and includes a flat surface section extending normal to the diagonal axes of the panel. A spring clip assembly is secured to the flat surface section of the bracket for engaging a stud affixed to the panel.

The tension mask, having a second coefficient of thermal expansion, is supported by the frame at the attachment zones along the opposing sides. The attachment zones are formed of a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion which is approximately the same as the second coefficient of thermal expansion in order to be matched with the tension mask.

The inclination of the bearing can be set with regard to the board by setting units, which alters the distance between the board and the bearing, the selling units each having at least one elastic element, is known. In order to improve the device to the extent that its individual components are inexpensive to produce and the adjustment can be carried out rapidly and in a simple manner, it is provided that the board has at least two elastic lugs, which are connected to the bearing. The inclinations of the lugs can be set with regard to the board by setting units, which act on the lugs.

A plurality of second conductive wires are oriented substantially perpendicular to the plurality of first conductive lines and are bonded thereto by the insulating material layer. The insulating material layer comprises a low porosity lead-zinc-borosilicate glass.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an implosion prevention tension band 16 for use in a cathode ray tube (CRT) 10. The CRT includes a faceplate panel 18 with a substantially flat viewing faceplate 21 and a peripheral rearwardly extending sidewall 22 having an inside blend radius 23 from the viewing faceplate 21 to the sidewall 22. The tension band 16 is a single layer band surrounding the panel 18 and having a predetermined width extending rearwardly from near the faceplate 21 to at least half the distance between the rear edge of the inside blend radius 23 and the rear edge of the sidewall 22. According to another aspect of the present invention, the tension band 16 includes a plurality of tension adjusting features 40 being positioned at locations around the band 16 aft of the inside blend radius 23 in such manner that the stresses in predetermined areas of the panel 18 are reduced.
