  • Patent number: 7632472
Abstract: A catalytic reactor for generating a hydrogen-containing synthesis gas from a rich fuel/oxidizing agent mix. The reactor (1) includes a multiplicity of parallel passages which extend from an inlet side (6) to an outlet side (7). To achieve a compact overall form of the reactor (1), at least in a core region of a cross section through the reactor (1) all the passages are of a catalytically active nature. In a first longitudinal part (8) of the reactor (1), which includes the inlet side (6), the catalytically active first passages have a larger proportion of the surface area provided with a catalytically active coating than the catalytically active second passages in a second longitudinal part (9) of the reactor (1), which includes the outlet side (7) and adjoins the first longitudinal part (8).

  • Patent number: 7628077
Abstract: A vehicle excitation testing system and method can include a device for simulating a vehicular motion and vehicular vibration and then measuring response. The system is designed to test front and/or rear wheel sections of a vehicle. The testing system can include a vehicle suspension system including a wheel and chassis, an excitation actuator connected to the suspension system, and a dummy or a real vehicle body linked to the suspension system and having a frame. The frame can be positively attached to the ground surface or floor or other similar isolated and stable base surface. Measuring devices can be connected to the frame, suspension and/or wheels. When the vehicle is excited to simulate road and other conditions, the wheels, suspension system and the vehicle body vibrate. Measurement of these transmitted vibrations can be studied in order to determine how to best control unwanted or unnecessary vibrations in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7622748
Abstract: Whereas incandescent light bulbs and other similar light sources known in the related art emit light in all directions, LED lamps can emit light in a single direction, and this is manifested in the problem of being unable to achieve light distribution characteristics satisfied by conventional headlamp designs. In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosed subject matter, an LED lamp for a light source of a headlamp can include an LED chip in the vicinity of the focus of a projection means and a shielding member covering a portion of the LED chip in a formation allowing a light distribution characteristic suitable for a vehicle front-illumination light to be obtained when light from the LED chip is magnified and projected in an illumination direction by a projection lens or the like constituting the projection means. Accordingly, accurate light distribution characteristics can be obtained in a simple manner by projecting in the illumination direction using the projection lens.

  • Patent number: 7618172
Abstract: A vehicle light can include a light source, a reflector configured to reflect light emitted from the light source in an irradiation direction of a vehicle on which the vehicle light is mounted, and a diffusion plate for diffusion of light and which can irradiate light in the irradiation direction. In this configuration, the diffusion plate can be configured such that light emitted from the light source and light reflected by the reflector enter the diffusion plate and pass therethrough while being refracted. The light is emitted from the diffusion plate in the irradiation direction while being diffused. At the same time, light which is incident on the diffusion plate and is reflected by the diffusion plate is diffused and irradiated in the irradiation direction of the vehicle light. The end portion of the diffusion plate can be bent or curved so as to diffuse the light reflected by the diffusion plate.

  • Patent number: 7608437
Abstract: A method of producing coryneform bacteria having an improved amino acid or nucleic acid-productivity comprises the steps of introducing a mutation in a promoter sequence of amino acid- or nucleic acid-biosynthesizing genes on a chromosome of a coryneform bacterium so that it is close to a consensus sequence or introducing a change in the promoter sequence of amino acid- or nucleic acid-biosynthesizing genes on the chromosome of a coryneform bacterium by gene recombination so that it is close to a consensus sequence, obtaining mutants of the coryneform amino acid- or nucleic acid-producing microorganism, culturing the mutants and select a mutant capable of producing the intended amino acid or nucleic acid in a large amount. This method allows one of skill in the art to construct a mutant capable of enriching or controlling the expression of an intended gene without using a plasmid and to promote production of amino acids in a high yield, by the recombination or mutation.
