Patent number: 4587590Abstract: A fail-safe device for removing power from controlled circuitry upon the occurrence of an undesired operating condition is disclosed. The fail-safe device includes means for detecting a short circuit in the controlled circuitry and for indicating the existence of an undesired operating condition if a short is detected. The fail-safe device further includes a non-volatile memory for retaining data through a power outage so that the existence of an undesired operating condition is remembered upon return of the power. The data stored in the non-volatile memory may also be useful in investigating an accident or malfunction. The fail-safe device still further includes a reset button which returns power after an undesired operating condition if it is momentarily depressed.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1984Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Electronics Corporation of AmericaInventors: John L. Patent number: 4586174Abstract: An analog signal stacking method and apparatus permits transmission of n analog signals of given spectrum width over a narrow band communication circuit having bandwidth approximately equal to the spectrum width of one analog signal by compressing the spectrum of each signal by a factor of 1/n and frequency offsetting the compressed signals to occupy contiguous frequency bands within the bandwidth of the circuit. Received signals are processed to remove the frequency offset and expand the baseband signals to restore each analog signal to its normal spectrum. A dial through circuit permits application of the stacking feature to place two conventional dialed calls on a single line of the telephone network using a circuit for processing both dial and voice signals.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1984Date of Patent: April 29, 1986Assignee: The Variable Speech Control Company ("VSC")Inventor: Stephen Wong

Patent number: 4572471Abstract: Upon a spider with rigid arms (4) and thereon adjoining mounting plates (1) are placed spring bands (81,82,83). These are supported on battens (12) on the mounting plates (1) and connected via screw bolts (20). By means of the screw bolts (20) the spring tension of the leaf spring strips (71,72,73) can be varied. Upon this triangle of strips rests another spider, containing rigid arms (5) and mounting plates (2). The contact site of the leaf spring sections (71,72,73) on the battens (12) is linear and in the same way there exists a linear resting of the arms (5) on the underlying strips. The mounting plates (2) of the upper spider contain again battens (12) and clamp bolts (20) forming a linear support. The superposed spiders are guided against one another through sleeves (9), guide rod (10) and key (11). Because of the fact that there exist leaf spring sections, the mounting height of the vibration dampers is very small.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1984Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Rudolph Schrepfer AGInventor: Rudolf Schrepfer

Patent number: 4572880Abstract: A fluorescent screen of a black matrix type color picture tube is manufactured by forming a graphite film on an inner surface of a face plate, applying a photoresist film on the graphite film, exposing to light portions of the photoresist film where phosphor picture elements are to be formed subsequently, removing the exposed portions of the photoresist film to expose portions of the graphite film, removing the exposed portions of the graphite film to form a black matrix film having voids corresponding to the exposed portions of the graphite film, and thereafter depositing triads of phosphors of picture elements on the inner surface of the face plate through the voids. In a modification, a reflective film is interposed between the graphite film and the photoresist film and portions of the reflective film in register with portions of the photoresist film exposed to light are removed by etching.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1981Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Kiyoshi Miura

Patent number: 4562574Abstract: A frame synchronizing signal insertion system at a transmitting end has a plurality of multiplexers. Frequency-divided frame synchronizing signals are produced by frame pattern generators of the plurality of multiplexers, respectively. These frequency-divided frame synchronizing signals which have different patterns are logic-ORed by a multiplex gate so as to obtain a composite frame pattern. When a composite multiplex signal having the composite frame pattern is transmitted to a receiving end and the composite frame pattern does not match a predetermined pattern, the receiving end can detect a malfunction of any one of the multiplexers at the transmitting end, and transmits an alarm signal or the like to indicate malfunctioning of the corresponding multiplexer.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1983Date of Patent: December 31, 1985Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Yuusaku Kambayashi

Patent number: 4555193Abstract: A keyboard is disclosed having keys subdivided into one or more fields. Two keys from the same field concurrently actuated identify a particular character. Characters are also identified by the actuation of a single key independently of any other key. Pivot keys may be included which are a part of more than one field. A color coding arrangement makes the two key combination unambiguously suggested by the keyboard itself. These features make possible a reduction of the number of keys such that a full set of alphanumeric characters may be arranged on the keyboard for one handed operation.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1983Date of Patent: November 26, 1985Inventor: Philip J.
