  • Patent number: 5044385
Abstract: An elastic ponytail holding device and method of making the same. The device is fabricated by forming a rectangular piece of flexible material such as cloth longitudinally and stitching the same to form a flattened tube. An elastic band is stitched under tension to the tube. While in tensioned condition, the tube is transversely slitted to form tab-like two ply petals which under contraction of the elastic band present a simulated floral appearance, following which the ends of the elastic band and tube are interconnected to form a resilient loop.

  • Patent number: 5033963
Abstract: A color value classification system employing a combination of four basic colors and five hues substantially covering the visible spectrum. The specific hues and tints are not equally spaced from the standpoint of wavelength, but are positioned within the visible spectrums to facilitate the making of other hues, increasing or decreasing contrasts, other shades and similar variants. The provision of twenty basic hues and percent tints permits the reproduction of the colors in commercially usable forms including printing inks, transparent color sheets, colored papers, coating materials and paints. Using a relatively small number of color variants, the teaching of color is materially simplified, as in the establishment of simple translation of art copy into forms for convenient replication.

  • Patent number: 5032073
Abstract: An improved extrusion structure and techniques for obtaining very high extrusion speeds based upon the use of higher extrusion temperatures and resulting increase in critical extrusion rates. Structure is provided for eliminating back flow of the extrudate, for continuously mixing the extrudate just prior to entering the extruding die, and for controlling the temperature of the extrudate at critical locations along the path of flow.

  • Patent number: 5032118
Abstract: An improved urinary device for use by male incontinent persons of the type in which a collector bag is supported upon the leg of the user. In lieu of the conventional leg-engaging straps, the collector bag is supported in a pocket on the outer surface of the leg member of an undergarment. The undergarment is made of highly resilient material including a lycra spandex component. The pocket is formed of relatively non-stretchable woven material and includes a rear wall extending from the waistband of the undergarment to a point below the lower edge of the pant leg, and a front wall approximately half the length of the rear wall and congruent with the lower half of the rear wall. A laminar type collector bag is carried within the pocket which has a lower opening for drainage. The rear wall of the pocket is stitched at the entire upper edge and side edges thereof to the undergarment to distribute the weight of a filled bag over a substantial area of the undergarment.

  • Patent number: 5027100
Abstract: A gas tube fail safe device for use in individual subscriber circuit telephone mmodules and related equipment, in which a fusible element is adapted to by-pass the conductive function of the gas tube in the event of gas tube failure. In one embodiment the construction provides for the fusing of the fusible element upon the occurrence of a sustained current overload. In another embodiment, this operation is supplemented by provision of secondary air gap means operative upon the occurrence of momentary excess voltage surges in the presence of a defective gas tube.

  • Patent number: 5020834
Abstract: An improved lockable windowgate having manually operated latching menas for retaining a locking member in retracted condition against the force of gravity during the time period in which the gate is opened, so as to facilitate one-handed operation by a user. Several embodiments are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the latching member is in the form of a detent disengaged by downward pressure on the locking member.

  • Patent number: 5008772
Abstract: An improved telephone subscriber circuit protector module providing plural surge voltage and excess current protection elements including so-called sneak current protection. The module includes a three-element gas tube which protects against voltage surges in the range of 200 to 300 volts, and includes fail safe protection relative to the gas tube should the gas tube become non-conductive over its intended range of protection. The fail safe protection is thermally operated under the influence of high current. Secondary air gap protection supplements the operation of the gas tube in the event of gas tube failure, and is operative to ground momentary voltage surges in the area of 1500 volts. Separate sneak current protection employing heat coils are operative in a range below one ampere flow, and an alternate form provides for the opening of the subscriber side of the line rather than the grounding of it. All of the protective elements communicate with a common ground plane forming part of a ground assembly.

  • Patent number: 4999146
Abstract: An improved process for manufacturing low density polytetrofluoroethylene insulated cable using a paste type extrudate to form a hollow tube of insulated material extruded about a wire conductor which passes through the extrusion die. As contrasted with earlier methods, the shaped extrudate paste is stretched before removing the extrusion aid substantially at ambient temperature with only residual heat imparted by extrusion by a driven pulley, the peripheral speed of which may be varied in accordance with the speed of the extrudate. With the completion of the stretching, the increased outer surface and porosity of the extrudate permits faster removal of the extrusion aid immediately prior to entering a sintering oven.
