  • Patent number: 6669206
Abstract: A tool holder for a rotary hammer or chisel hammer, comprising at least one locking element, a supporting ring axially movable between a position supporting the locking element in the locked position and a second position defining a first release position of the locking element and wherein the locking element comprising a shaped element which, on its radially outer side, has a single projection lying between a first recess formed at a front edge of the locking element and a second recess formed at a rear edge of the locking element and the supporting ring has on a radially inner side a single projection lying between a first recess formed at a front edge of the supporting ring and a second recess formed at a rear edge of the supporting ring.

  • Patent number: 6666284
Abstract: A rotary hammer includes a spindle 18 which can be rotatably driven by an intermediate shaft 24 by way of a drive device. A tool holder 16 is arranged for rotation with the spindle 18, and for releasably holding a bit or tool for selective rotation and/or reciprocation. A pneumatic hammering arrangement facilitates repeated impacting of the bit or tool for reciprocation within the tool holder (16). A mode change mechanism includes a knob 18 for selectively operating the rotary hammer in any of three modes, identified as a rotary drive only mode, a hammer only mode and a rotary hammer mode.

  • Patent number: 6645058
Abstract: A clamping assembly adjustable from a first position with a first stack height to a second position with a second stack height less than the first stack height, whereby said clamping force is substantially released, said clamping assembly comprising: a flange nut; a clamp flange connected to the flange nut; a thrust plate having a plurality of axial penetrations and rotatably mounted between the flange nut and clamp flange; a first roller cage having a plurality of penetrations; a first plurality of rolling elements rotatably mounted in the penetrations of the first roller cage; a second roller cage having a plurality of penetrations; a second plurality of rolling elements rotatably mounted in the penetrations of the second roller cage; a ring collar having rotatably mounted between the clamp flange and the flange nut and surrounding and rotationally engageable to the thrust plate, whereby rotation of the ring collar rotates the thrust plate relative to the first and second roller cages from the first positio

  • Patent number: 6625891
Abstract: A circular saw 30 includes a housing 32, a fixed upper guard 34, a movable lower guard 36 and a shoe 38. A saw motor 48 is selectively operated to rotate a circular saw blade 54 to facilitate the formation of a selective cut or kerf into a workpiece 57 under the control of an operator. A forward end 126, and a wing wall 138, of the upper guard 34 form an enclosed chamber 122 which is placed in close proximity with an adjacent surface 46 of the shoe 38 to essentially preclude chips from discharging through a slight space 39 therebetween. A trailing peripheral portion 148 of the upper guard 34 is formed with an inner radial path for receiving the lower guard 36 within the upper guard, and an outer radial path for management and directing of chips to a rear end 130 of the upper guard for discharging of the chips. A pair of stripes 102 and 104, and a sight window 90, are located on a forward portion of the surface 46 of the shoe 38 to assist an operator of the saw 30 in the accurate formation of the kerf.

  • Patent number: 6553642
Abstract: A first component part (42) for a power tool has a mounting spigot (90) with a channel (239) therein and a second component part (10) of the power tool has a spigot receiving portion (54) with a rib (101) co-operable with the channel. The first component part includes a cylindrical projection with a chamfered edge (250) and the second component part includes a detent. In a first step in coupling the components parts, the channel in the mounting spigot is aligned with the co-operable rib on the spigot receiving portion. Subsequent steps include engaging the further rib of the spigot receiving portion with a channel on a side wall and finally, urging the chamfered edge past the detent.
