  • Patent number: 5823657
Abstract: A lamp clamp uses a portion of the lamp as a moveable clamping jaw. This portion is screw-threaded into a threaded aperture of one of the arms of a C-shaped member. The other arm of the C-shaped member includes an object-engaging portion which further includes two pressure pads separated by a dished portion. The C-shaped member includes a coextensive flange around the inner periphery of the "C". The flange assists in stabilizing the clamp against the object, such as, the side edge of a worktable. The end of the moveable portion is attached to a swivel head which is pivotably engageable with the object in several orientations. The arrangement is especially useful when it is desired to mount a flashlight having a flexible stem (such as the Black & Decker.RTM. SnakeLight.TM. flashlight). The moveable clamping jaw defines a cylindrical tube into which is slideably mounted the graspable portion of the flashlight.

  • Patent number: 5815934
Abstract: A handheld powered planer is provided with a receiving chamber (25) with a chips redirecting surface (51) next to the drum compartment (18) for the cutter drum (15). The receiving chamber (25) is connected via an inlet opening (28) to the drum compartment (18) and via a lateral outlet opening (26, 27) to the outside. The chips redirecting surface (51) is inclined in an ascending manner in the direction of the outlet opening. Air passage openings (53) are located in the inclined chips redirecting surface (51) and are connected via an air channel (30) to the motor compartment (19) of the planer housing (1) so that an air flow from the fan wheel (11) of the drive motor (8) passes through the air passage openings (53) and flows in the direction of the outlet openings (26, 27). Chip removal is significantly improved as a result of this.

  • Patent number: 5805068
Abstract: A cordless device 11 comprises a load 13 and a multiple pack power supply 15 connected to load 13. A voltage detection circuit 23, 63, 64, 75, 76 is connected to supply 15 and detects when one of the batteries 17, 19 is charged and the other is discharged. Circuits 23, 63, 65, 75, 76 may also function as a voltage comparator circuit to identify when one of the batteries 17, 19 is defective. The detection or comparator circuit includes comparators 25, 33 for comparing the battery voltages. An indicator 41, 43, 65, 74, 81 is connected to the output of comparators 25, 33 and provides an end user identifiable signal responsive to the outputs of comparators 25, 33.

  • Patent number: 5787779
Abstract: A saw (10) comprises a frame, a table (12) mounted in the frame and adapted to adopt two positions. A pivot member (14) is on a first side of the table and a saw assembly (16) is pivoted (at 18) to the pivot member. A blade (26) is journalled in the assembly and a motor (22) drives the blade. A spring (124) between the pivot member and saw assembly biasses the saw assembly away from the table a slot in the table permits the blade to protrude through the table. In a first of said two positions of the table, the saw assembly is above the table and the saw is a chop saw for performing plunge cuts on workpieces supported on said first side of the table (FIG. 1). In a second of said two positions, the saw assembly as below the table and the saw is a bench saw for performing cuts on workpieces passed through the blade on a second opposite side of the table (FIG. 2).

  • Patent number: 5787769
Abstract: A saw (10) comprises a housing, a drive spindle (20) rotatably mounted in the housing and a circular saw blade (not shown) adapted to be releasably mounted on one end of the spindle. The blade fits over the threaded end (25) of the spindle and a nut (26) clamps the blade to the spindle. The spindle is in the form of a sleeve and is rotatable about a shaft (22) fixed in the housing. The bore (30) through the end of the spindle is of hexagonal section and corresponds with a bore (32) formed in the end of the shaft.A wrench (40) is used to remove the blade and has a socket (48) to engage the nut and a freely rotatable pin (50) which also has a hexagonal section and which is adapted to fit in the bores (30,32) when the socket is on the nut and lock the spindle to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5768743
Abstract: A clean fan debris collecting apparatus is disclosed in which the suction of debris is performed by an entrained stream of air (34). The apparatus comprises a motor (24) which drives an impeller (20) which generates at air steam which is directed down an air supply duct (6). The air stream is then directed into a collecting duct (4) through an air inlet (8) which is located adjacent to a collecting mouth (5) of the collecting duct. The air stream, upon entering the collecting duct (4) generates the entrained stream of air (34) which sucks debris into the collecting mouth (5) and transports it up the collecting duct (4) to a collecting bag (30). An air stream dispersing apparatus (26) is located adjacent to the air inlet (8) to disperse the air stream as it enters to collecting duct (4). This dispersion improves the efficiency with which the entrained stream of air can be generated. Alternatively the air inlet (8) can be formed to include the static air dispersing apparatus.
