  • Patent number: 6640446
Abstract: A manually operated floor grooving tool is provided which has opposing front and rear ends with a seam-following roller at its front end and a groove-following roller at its rear end. The tool also employs a pair of grooving blades, one at the front end and one at the rear end. The front grooving blade is inclined upwardly and rearwardly with its cutting tip located just behind the forward axis of rotation of the seam-following guide. The rear-end grooving blade, on the other hand, projects rearwardly from the rear end of the tool and is inclined upwardly and forwardly and behind the groove-following roller. Since the rear-end grooving blade projects beyond the end of the tool in which it is secured, it can complete the formation of the groove all the way up to a vertical abutment. The groove is thereafter filled with sealant in a conventional manner.

  • Patent number: 6638181
Abstract: A golf club putter head has a unique, geometric configuration that is advantageous for achieving consistently accurate putting shots. The golf putter head of the invention is characterized by a convex complexly contoured ball impact surface and by a high bridge that extends lengthwise at the face of the putter to join the heel and toe. The end extremities of both the putter heel and toe are curved with a complex and unique geometric curvature. Vertical, tapped, chamfered bores are defined in both the putter toe and the putter heel to receive externally threaded inserts. The inserts may be hollow so as to accommodate a variable number of disc-shaped weights, the number of which is individually selected by each golfer. Alternatively, the inserts may be solid structures of a weight suitable to the individual golfer.

  • Patent number: 6623086
Abstract: An improved automotive vehicle wheel plated with an overcoating, such as chrome, is constructed in such a manner as to be free of the blistering effects of residual acidic and caustic chemicals employed in the chrome-plating process. Like conventional automotive vehicle wheels of this type, the wheel of the invention is comprised of an outer rim into which a wheel center is set. However, unlike conventional wheels, the center of the wheel of the invention is provided with a radially inwardly directed groove into its rim-contacting surface near the outboard extremities of the contacting surfaces of the wheel rim and wheel center. A resilient O-ring is seated in the groove prior to setting the wheel center within the wheel rim. The outer rim is then heated so as to thermally expand it to receive the wheel center. When the rim cools it shrinks into tight, intimate contact with the radially outwardly facing surface of the wheel center.

  • Patent number: 6620836
Abstract: A composition employing a small amount of the hormone melatonin combined with a magnesium compound is formed into a lozenge or into a timed release tablet to act as an antiarrhythmic agent. As a lozenge to be dissolved in the mouth, it may incorporate magnesium in several forms such as a citrate, as a niacinate, as an aspartate, or as an orotate. The preferred formulations according to the invention alleviate cardiac arrhythmia, as well as the extreme manifestation of this condition known as atrial fibrillation. Magnesium citrate is not only beneficial to the heart muscle but also contributes to a laxative effect that counters the constipating action of the melatonin. As a time release tablet for daytime use, the same ingredients indicated above may be combined in tablet or capsular form, but are accompanied by the addition of agents which stimulate the mind such as tyrosine and phenylalanine. These stimulants serve to counter the sleep-inducing action of the melatonin.

  • Patent number: 6611319
Abstract: An optical flow sensor determines the velocity of a moving flow of air or other gas utilizing a plurality of photodetectors spaced apart in a direction parallel to the direction of gas flow. An optical beam is transmitted to the photodetectors across the flowing gas. Scintillations that occur in the flowing gas due to eddies and particulates in the gas are detected in the photodetectors at slightly different times. The output signals of the photodetectors are conditioned, amplified and transformed to digital form. Temporal cross correlation analysis is then performed on the digitized signals in a digital signal processor utilizing a fast correlation algorithm in which the total number of calculations is proportional to 2N, as contrasted with conventional systems in which the number of correlations is proportional to N2. A time differential between signals from the different photodetectors is then calculated electronically.

  • Patent number: 6607122
Abstract: A portable document storage device includes large and small portable file folders or wallets. Each of these file folders has front and back covers and a foldable flap that extends from the back cover and folds over the front cover. Each file folder is provided with accordion pleated side panels that allow at least the upper portions of the front and back covers to be spread apart from each other for access to the contents of the folders. A plurality of divider sheets are provided for each file folder. The divider sheets have side marginal edges that are secured throughout to the pleats in the side panels of their respective wallets. Release able fasteners are provided with mutually engaging fastening elements located near the upper edge of the rear cover of the small filing wallet and near the upper edge of the front cover of the large filing wallet.

  • Patent number: 6600289
Abstract: A portable three-phase alternating current power supply is provided to drive one or more chain hoist drive motors. The portable power supply has a portable case for holding electrical components and includes a control panel that has at least one single-phase power input socket, and preferably a pair of three-phase motor power output sockets and a pair of motor control output sockets. Three-phase inverters are located in the portable case and are coupled to receive one or more single-phase 110 V alternating current power inputs and to provide three-phase, 208 V alternating current electrical power outputs through the three-phase motor power output sockets. Selector switches on the control panel are used to drive the chain hoist motors to raise and lower loads. Phase selection switches on the control panel synchronize the outputs of the inverters with the selector switch positions and associated indicators.

  • Patent number: 6598248
Abstract: A combination of a pillowcase and a cover is constructed the so that the pillowcase is permanently attached to the central region of the cover and the cover may the folded and stuffed into the pillowcase or alternatively spread out to extend laterally from the pillowcase. The pillowcase is formed of front and rear panels. The front panel is permanently secured to the central region of the cover. The front and rear panels of the pillowcase are permanently secured together along only a portion of a mutually common enclosing perimeter, and are releaseably secured together along the remainder of that perimeter. The orientation of the rear panel is reversible so that it may reside exposed atop the cover with the front panel concealed therebetween when the cover is withdrawn from the pillowcase and spread out laterally therefrom.
