Abstract: A pair of receptacles are connected together by flexible material for permitting the receptacles to be assembled in overlapping relationship to form a convenient package. Each receptacle includes a medication storage compartment having a child-resistant cap assembly that is easily opened by a patient with malfunctioning fingers and a smaller, adjacent compartment for receiving the cap assembly of another receptacle. Large indicia with instructions for taking the medication stored in the medication storage compartment may be inserted into this smaller compartment.
Abstract: A device for resisting entry of an object into a space between the hinged edge of a door and associated door jamb includes an elongated sheet of material thin enough to be placed in this space without impeding the closing of the door. The sheet has first and second strips adapted to be fixedly connected within the space to the door and jamb, respectively. A third strip interconnects the first and second strips and coacts therewith to resist entry of objects into the space when the door and jamb are brought together.
Abstract: The invention features the use of redox reagents, dissolved in non-aqueous electrolytes, to provide overcharge protection for cells having alkali metal negative electrodes (anodes). In particular, the invention features the use of organometallic compounds, known as metallocenes, as redox shuttle reagents to provide overcharge protection. Specific examples of this invention are bis(cyclopentadienyl)iron, known as ferrocene; bis(n-butyl-cyclopentadienyl)iron, known as butylferrocene; bis(cyclopentadienyl)nickel, known as nickelocene; and bis(cyclopentadienyl)cobalt, known as cobaltocene. An example of a rechargeable battery in which these redox reagents are used as an Li negative electrode and a TiS.sub.2 positive electrode.

Abstract: An apparatus for energizing a fluorescent lamp having two filament electrodes. The apparatus comprises a rectifier circuit responsive to an AC voltage for providing DC voltage and a transformer having at least a primary winding and a secondary winding for providing transformed power to said lamp. A switch intermittently connects said DC voltage to said primary winding to develop current pulses at an ultrasonic frequency. Said secondary winding is coupled to said filament electrodes to both heat said filament electrodes and establish a potential thereacross for initiating and maintaining an arc therebetween.
Abstract: A storage case for storing electronic recording devices and their boxes. The case has a base, two end walls and two side walls, each fixedly connected together to form an open box. The side walls have an upper and a lower portion, the lower portion being adjacent the base and the upper portion being located between the base and the open end of the box. The upper portion, but not the lower portion of the box, comprises a plurality of paired vertical ribs spaced to allow an electronic recording device or a box to be inserted through the ribs and held in a vertical position in the case.
Abstract: Apparatus demodulates frequency-modulated information signals on a radio frequency signal carrying on a suppressed superaudio carrier signal, amplitude-modulated spectral components in a subcarrier channel frequency range above the audio frequency range and frequency modulated spectral components within the audio range. A demodulator demodulates the frequency-modulated information signals to provide detected audio signals having spectral components within the audio frequency range and detected superaudio signals having spectral components including those within the subcarrier channel frequency range above the audio frequency range in response to modulated radiated radio frequency signals arriving at the apparatus over a number of paths of different lengths.
Abstract: A scanning beam transmit antenna system includes a source of electromagnetic energy, radiating elements and a feed network connecting the source to the radiating elements. A beam steerer controls the phase of the electromagnetic energy at each of the radiating elements. Power dividers route the electromagnetic energy to each of the radiating elements, and switches control the flow of the electromagnetic energy among the power dividers. The beam steerer changes the phases of the energy emitted by the radiating elements as a function of time to cause sequentially a motion of the scanning beam in the "TO" direction and a motion of the scanning beam in the "FRO" direction, and the switches modify the flow of the electromagnetic energy through the power dividers to and among the radiating elements on one half of the linear array during the "TO" motion of the scanning beam and to the radiating elements on the other half of the linear array during the "FRO" motion of the scanning beam.
Abstract: A postcard assembly comprising a first, second, and third sheet, the sheets being arranged one on top of another, with adjacent sheets removably attached together. The first and second sheets have first and second upper and first and second lower surfaces. The first and second lower surfaces comprise pressure sensitive material, wherein pressure on this material causes a visible mark to be formed on a sheet positioned below the first or second lower surface. The third sheet is adapted to be mailed as a postcard with the second sheet removably attached to the third sheet and with the second sheet obscuring any visible mark on the third sheet.
Abstract: Disclosed is an electrochemical cell that includes an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte, the cathode containing more than a trace amount of a sulfur impurity capable of causing the cell to self-discharge and also containing a scavenger that reacts with the impurity to reduce the rate of self-discharge of the cell.
Abstract: A spray medium inset for a spraying pistol includes a spraying nozzle, and a needle for selectively closing the nozzle spray opening. The inset includes a connecting channel terminating in a cylindrical recess having an annular recess in the wall surrounding the cylindrical recess that snugly accommodates an annular ridge around the opening of a spray medium tank detachably secured to the connecting channel in the cylindrical recess. The connecting channel also includes a plug for normally keeping the spray opening closed with the jet needle. The tank has a concave bottom supporting a mixing shaft in a claw plug with a frangible annular zipper zone around the shaft. The mixing shaft is formed with a plug that engages a seat in the connecting channel bolt member that keeps the connecting channel closed and the spray opening closed with the shaft in its original extended position.
Abstract: A power controller includes a full-wave bridge rectifier circuit coupled to an A.C. line by a storage inductor with two windings and a saturating inductor. The output of the bridge rectifier is connected to a D.C. output terminal for producing output voltages for a symmetrical amplifier. The D.C. potential provided by the full-wave rectifier is compared with a ramp signal having an external ramp set point related to the D.C. output potential relative to a reference potential to provide a trigger pulse for controlling the time the SCR is gated on. A balancing system selectively switches auxiliary resistances in and out to maintain a desired balance. Upon sensing a gross imbalance, the SCR is turned off. The power controlling apparatus includes isolation circuitry for creating an isolation barrier having a high frequency path and a low frequency path. The high frequency path includes a transformer having main primary and secondary windings.
Abstract: A voltage controlled oscillator includes a VCO chip that is a monolithic circuit with a Gunn diode and varactor diode intercoupled by a resonant circuit. A detector/discriminator/power divider chip is coupled to the VCO chip through a directional coupler and is a monolithic circuit having a pair of discriminator diodes and amplitude detector diode on a semi-insulating substrate with associated circuit components. Connected-together electrodes of the discriminator diodes are connected to one output of the power divider. An electrode of the amplitude detector diode is connected to the other output of the power divider. Stagger-tuned resonant circuits are coupled to the other electrodes of the discriminator diodes. Conducting portions forming low pass filters couple the amplitude detector diode and the discriminator detector diodes to respective outputs.

Abstract: A platform for positioning inside an evacuated chamber is slidable in a y--y direction along a movable support member that is movable along an x--x direction perpendicular to the y--y direction. The movable support member is formed with end bearings that ride along a y-drive shaft that carries a first helical gear for meshing with a second orthogonal helical gear that rotates a feed screw accommodated by a threaded opening in the platform. An electric motor is coupled to the y-drive shaft through the wall of the evacuated housing with a vacuum sealing assembly.
Abstract: A collapsible truck bed covering structure includes left and right base members fastened to the top of left and right sidewalls, respectively, of the truck bed. Left and right sidewalls are hinged at the bottom to the left and right base members, respectively. Trolleys at the top of the left and right sidewalls are couple to the rails in a top member so that raising and lowering the top member, raises and lowers the sidewalls. Rear and front window frames are hinged at the bottom with a pin and inverted J-slot hinges between horizontal retracted and vertical extended positions and releasably locked by post and keyway structure.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reflection diode phase shifter that achieves amplitude equality between phase shifts of incident energy. Amplitude equality is achieved by placing a resistor R to ground in parallel with the transmission lines connecting a four-port coupler to symmetric reflection terminators having an impedance that is varied by a diode. The resistor is placed at a point on the transmission line having the lowest voltage when the greatest power loss is realized by the phase shifter.
Abstract: A support structure that may be used as a seat, table or step stool has a top panel substantially 10".times.18" secured between two angled panels substantially 10" above the floor. A pair of normally vertical support members extend between the end panels in contact with the bottom of the top panel and are each formed with a groove that accommodates a tension rod fastened between the end panels. A handle opening is formed near the top of each end panel. The end panels are formed with legs that project beyond the projection of the top panel as seen from the top, both longitudinally and transversely.
Abstract: An artificial lens is cantilevered from a support rod in the vitreous chamber of the eye with the other end of the support rod affixed to an anterior chamber lens, the support for it, the sclera or (natural) lens capsule. There may be a number of support rods and a number of lenses cantilevered from support rods in the vitreous cavity.
Abstract: A constant phase diode limiter has a pair of oppositely poled diodes in series between the primary of an output transformer and an input terminal. The junction of the diodes is connected to a voltage source through a resistor and inductor. A capacitor having the same value as the capacitance of each of the diodes when nonconducting is connected between the input and the secondary winding of the output transformer. The secondary winding of the output transformer is connected in series between the output terminal and the latter capacitor.
