Abstract: Process for preparing known classes of 2-substituted azoles (I) and N-acylazolinones (II) by reacting carbon monoxide at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of a cocatalyst composition, of which 5% palladium on carbon with a Lewis acid such as ferric chloride is representative, with a nitrogenous compound (III): ##STR1## to form the products (usually in admixture): ##STR2## where R is alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, aryl, styrl or ##STR3## R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, halo or, when taken together on adjacent carbon atoms, -CH.dbd.CH-CH.dbd.CH-; R.sub.4 may be alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, aryl, styryl, ##STR4## X is oxygen, sulfur or imino, Y is alkylene, alkenylene or arylene; and Z is nitro, azo or azoxy.
Abstract: Hard surface scouring or cleansing composition, more particularly a scouring block comprising a non-ionic detergent, a long-chain fatty alcohol and an abrasive material.
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a wax-like cosmetic stick product having an improved contour on its upper surface, by filling at the open bottom with the stick material in a molten state, the case having a cap which provides the contour, allowing the stick to solidify, and placing a push-up device in the bottom of the case.

Abstract: A process is provided for preparing bis(hydroxymethyl)methylphosphine oxide, comprising (1) thermally rearranging tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine at elevated temperatures in the presence of a catalytic amount of a strong, non-oxidizing acid, having an ionization constant greater than 10.sup.-3, or a source thereof, to obtain the desired bis(hydroxymethyl)methylphosphine oxide, and (2) recovering the latter compound from the reaction mixture.
Abstract: A process for beneficiating non-sulfide minerals such as celestite, barite, scheelite, fluorite, calcite, magnesite, gypsum, anhydrite, cassiterite, apatite and the like comprising froth floating a pulp conditioned with gangue depressant, where necessary, and using salts of tri- and tetra- carboxyl containing fatty alkyl substituted aspartic acids, aspartic mono-esters, and aspartic di-esters.
Abstract: Hair conditioning composition for application following shampooing, to give the hair better manageability and appearance. The composition is essentially water white and comprises a high molecular weight copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate quaternized with diethylsulfate or dimethylsulfate in combination with oleyl dimethylbenzylammonium chloride.
Abstract: Aqueous compositions containing a polyligand solution polymer in which the ligand groups are carboxylic acid groups, saponified in part with ammonia and polyvalent metal ions which form complexes with ammonia.

Abstract: A process for treating mixtures of isopropylnaphthalenes (IPN) obtained from any source and increasing the beta-isopropylnaphthalene content thereof by a batch or continuous isomerization reaction in the presence of a rare earth metal ammonium-exchanged, "Y Type" crystalline aluminosilicate catalyst. The process also includes disproportionation of higher alkylates of naphthalene, such as diisopropylnaphthalene, to increase the IPN content of said mixtures.
