  • Patent number: 4870870
Abstract: A shaker having a hollow housing in the form generally of two hollow cylinders with the central axes disposed from one another and integrally connected together with a closed end and an end shield covering the second end. A first shaft is supported on bearings in the first cylinder concentric to it, with an eccentric weight attached to the first shaft. A second shaft concentric to the second cylinder is supported on bearings concentric to the second cylinder. Only one end of the housing, the other end is closed, has an end cap and the shafts are connected by helical pinions so that the helical pinions urge the weights and shafts in opposite directions from one another.

  • Patent number: 4818402
Abstract: A backwash strainer having a generally cylindrical filter element made up of a stack of spaced rings that are triangular in cross section, with the bases of said triangular rings disposed in a cylindrical surface. A hollow backwash arm has an open slot disposed on the inside of the cylindrical surface which operates at a predetermined distance from said element. The incoming water in said strainer flows from the inlet up through the straining element to the outlet. The backwash arm receives water from around the straining element, which flows through the element into the backwash slot and out with the debris accumulated on said strainer. Since the debris is supported on the flat interior of the rings, water flowing back into the arm into the slot in the hollow backwash arm forces trash and other debris from the rings down to the backwash water outlet. Water flowing through the clearance between the bars as used, helps flush the debris off the inside of the filter element.

  • Patent number: 4807882
Abstract: A random number selector is disclosed having a body generally in the form of a plate having three axially extending vertically spaced rectangular chambers formed in it. The three chambers are spaced from one another by a top generally rectangular part, two spaced intermediate parts and a bottom rectangular part, third rectangular parts extending from one side to the other. End parts closing the three chambers. The top of each rectangular part forming a shelf having half cylindrical shaped recesses. The recesses are adjacent one another so that the half cylindrical parts each engage the adjacent part so that the edge of each chamber has a sharp top edge. A transparent cover is supported over the front of the body and six red balls are received in the top chamber, four yellow balls in the intermediate chamber and three green balls in the lower chamber. A wedge shaped bead overlies the recesses and prevents the balls from rolling out when the selector is tilted back.

  • Patent number: 4799060
Abstract: A traffic signal made up of a conventional stop and go configuration of lamps and switching means with an improved lamp control and improved lamps. The lamps are of the incandescent type, preferably having two filaments. The filaments are connected to a source of electrical current. The current is supplied through an electronic circuit providing electrical current of a first polarity alternately to one of the filaments and electrical current a second polarity alternately to the second filament. It has been discovered that this alternate energizating of the filaments gives a scanning effect that is more conspicuous and has greater attention getting qualities under all viewing conditions.

  • Patent number: 4797791
Abstract: A combination light and motorcycle foot peg is disclosed. The light has a lens that is visible from front, rear and side of the foot peg. The light projection warns motor vehicles of the width of the motorcycle that they are following or approaching. The foot peg, according to the invention, can be folded up or can be moved down to a normal position for use. The foot peg, according to the invention, is slightly longer than other conventional foot pegs to bring the light out of the outside edge of the motorcycle profile.

  • Patent number: 4792657
Abstract: A plasma cutting system comprising a frame, a work support on said frame and a tubular torch support. Gantry apparatus for moving the tubular torch support laterally and longitudinally relative to work on the work support. The torch support is moved a fixed distance from the work and has a ski cup on the lower end of the tubular work support to move over the work. The tube is urged downward by a spring so that as the ski cup runs over the work, the tube is lifted and held at a constant distance from the work. A torch support bearing in the lower end of the torch tube freely receives the torch in the tube.

  • Patent number: 4773577
Abstract: A fire fighter's axe and sling combination is disclosed. The sling is attached to the wooden axe handle by two bands wrapped tightly around the handle at two spaced positions. It has been observed that fire fighter's axes are habitually exposed to abuse and rough treatment because of the emergency conditions which prevail during their use of the axe. The handles frequently break along lines disposed about 10 to 20 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the handle at the usual location of fracture. The bands pass around the handle at a position to reinforce the handle. A slot for receiving the sling is disposed adjacent the ends of the handle so that the sling will not interfere with the use of the axe and the firefighter can grasp the handle with the sling in the slot with no inconvenience.

  • Patent number: 4768992
Abstract: A flexible power transmission coupling wherein a drive member is connected to a driven member by a link assembly. The links are stacked and connected in series. Each link has a first end, a second end and an intermediate part. The first ends of each link are connected together and to the driven member, the second ends of each link are connected together and to a driven member or vice versa. The intermediate part of each link is convoluted and narrower than the ends. This allows greater axial and angular misalignments between drive and driven members. Also this results in a more linear relation between axial force and deflection of the coupling.

  • Patent number: 4765638
Abstract: The present invention is comprised of cylinders with extensible pistons which extend between first points located on a trailer and second points located on a gooseneck which interconnects the trailer to a tractor. The gooseneck and the trailer are rotatably coupled to one another at a common pivot point. The first points and second points are arranged relative to one another such that as the piston in the cylinder is extended or retracted, the gooseneck and trailer are respectively raised or lowered relative to the ground. The gooseneck is arranged so that it substantially encloses the cylinders throughout their entire range of travel thereby protecting them from damage. In addition, a locking apparatus permits locking the pistons to both the first and second points to present rotation of the gooseneck relative to the trailer. Thus the gooseneck and trailer can be removed from the tractor as a single unit.

The body grip part has an upper and a lower end and an intermediate part. The intermediate part is generally cylindrical and adapted to be received in a hand of a skier with the palm of the body a first side and the fingers extending around the second side of the intermediate part. A mushroom-like top part is integrally attached to the upper end of the hand engaging part and extends outward from the sides and front thereof. The front part of the mushroom-like top acts as a snow guard and is attached to the front side of the top and extends downward. A thumb support is attached to the inner side of the body part and extends upward and terminates in spaced relation to the upper end. A recess formed at the front of one side of the thumb support receives the ends of the skier's fingers. A hand support is attached to the lower part of the body part at the outer side and extends upwardly.

  • Patent number: 4727720
Abstract: An ice maker is disclosed for freezing ice pieces and delivering the ice pieces to a receptacle under a chute. The ice machine is made up of an ice mold with an opening in its bottom which receives and ice extractor with an open bottom and upwardly and outwardly extending sides. An evaporator plate is supported below the opening in the ice mold bottom and a water supply is provided to maintain the water in the mold at a predetermined level. A thermo electro unit is disposed below the evaporator. Classical freon refrigeration can also be used. Thus when water is frozen to ice in the extractor, the refrigeration, or thermo-electric means melts the ice loose from the evaporator, in some models, and also from the ice extractor. The ice extractor, which is attached to a motor by means of an arm, swings to an inverted position over an ice chute from which the ice falls, is in some models aided by ambient heat, into a repository. The extractor then swings back into the mold for another cycle.
