  • Patent number: 4638144
Abstract: A machine for marking idicia on small articles of manufacture by means of a laser. Strips of articles in the form of small relatively flat rectangular plate like members are held together in side by side relation in a common plane in plate like frames. The strips are stacked in magazines. The machine has an indexing turret with eight magazine supporting stations, a diametrically disposed conveyor. The full magazines of unmarked parts are loaded onto the machine at one station at the front of the machine by an operator. The full magazines of unmarked parts are then indexed to an unloading station where the lead frames are automatically unloaded from the magazine onto the conveyor where they are transferred past a laser marking station to an unloading station. The laser marker marks an indicia onto each article and the conveyor moves the lead frames to the loading station, where the stacks are reloaded onto an empty magazine.

  • Patent number: 4627356
Abstract: A two piece booster shot shell wad is disclosed which includes a one piece wad unit and a shot cup. The shot cup is received in a cup shaped cavity in the one piece unit. The shot cup has a non-circular stud on its bottom and is received in a non-circular recess on the one piece wad. The one piece wad has a channel on its bottom to trap air and direct it against the bottom of said shot cup to expel the shot cup from the one piece wad. The over powder wad shapes the charge and extended primer flash pocket helps in ignition of the powder. The outer peripheral upper edges of the cup shaped cavity in the one piece unit is flared outwardly to build up air pressure for opening the ears of the one piece wad and the shot cup has spaced ears which flare outwardly in flight through the air.

  • Patent number: 4621958
Abstract: A boring block and tool holder is disclosed having an opening therein. The block is made of a thick rectangular plate having inserts set into its front corners and inclined surfaces adjacent its rear edge forming a noncircular tang part having two rearwardly facing shoulders adjacent the tang portion which is received in a slot in a boring bar. The shape of the slot is complimentary to the shape of the tang part of the block. A tapered hole through the tang aligns with a tapered hole in the boring bar and the tapered hole in the block receives a taper pin which forces the block rearward bringing the block into firm rigid relationship with the end of the bar thereby clamping the block in positive rigid relation to the bar. The block has more strength than previous blocks because the block is thicker below the cutting inserts and there is more metal below the cutting insert, yet it can use the same bar and same slot width as rectangular blocks.

  • Patent number: 4619368
Abstract: A rack for printed circuit boards is disclosed. The rack has a first wall with a circuit board engaging surface and a second wall with a circuit board engaging surface disposed generally perpendicular to one another. The two surfaces are rigidly fixed together at right angles to each other and the board engaging surfaces are fixed to and supported by a first lateral flange and a second lateral flange. The first board engaging surface has ribs at the side edges for engaging the edges of boards and a recess is formed between the two board engaging surfaces which receives projections on the boards, debris, liquids or other foreign material. For manual handling and quick access to boards, the rack can be used alone on a desk top or the like wherein bottom board edges rest at an acute angle to the desk surface. For mechanical handling and shipment of boards, the rack can be used in opposed pairs adjustably connected and within a container wherein bottom board edges rest parallel to support surface.

  • Patent number: 4606820
Abstract: A strainer for trapping solid particles entrained in a fluid flowing through the strainer includes a two-chambered housing, each chamber containing a removable strainer basket. The strainer also includes a plurality of valve mechanisms for routing fluid flow through the two chambers in a predetermined manner. A user actuated directional flow control valve includes a multi-ported ball member rotatably supported by and between a pair of opposed valve seat plates, each associated with a respective one of the chambers wherein rotation of the ball directs fluid flow through it into one or the other or both of the chambers. An optional seal member, engageable with the ball, acts at a predetermined position of the ball member to block inlet fluid flow through any of the ports in the ball member thereby providing a shut off condition. A pair of spring biased, normally closed, check valves are used to automatically control the flow of strained fluid out of the strainer chambers.

  • Patent number: 4605993
Abstract: A battery operated lamp and battery charger are disclosed. The lamp is equipped with a rechargeable battery and a battery charger stand. The lamp has a lamp support surface with a center terminal, and a second terminal spaced from the center which engages the center terminal and second terminal respectively on the lamp. Thus the two lamp terminals will engage the two respective charge terminals regardless of the position of orientation in which the lamp is placed on the charger. The charger circuit is powered from a power cord connected to a power line through a transformer a full wave rectifier to charging lines. These diodes and a switch are connected in parallel with two diodes. The lamp battery to be charged is connected in parallel with the charging lines. Thus, with the switch closed, the charging voltage is reduced to desired value by a voltage drop caused by the resistor and the three diodes in parallel with the battery.
