  • Patent number: 6325442
Abstract: A supplemental sun shield for use on a motor vehicle's windshield visor effectively blocks out sun rays which the visor itself is not capable of blocking. The supplemental sun shield comprises a clip member and a glare reducing polymeric sheet element rotatably mounted on the clip member. The clip member has two elongated legs joined at lower terminuses. A front elongated leg has a hook-like arm extending from a front face. The glare reducing polymeric sheet element is generally rectangular-shaped with a slot in an upper area. The slot is shaped to fit over the hook-like arm of the clip member. The sheet element can be moved laterally as needed. The supplemental sun shield can also be moved laterally on the windshield visor as needed by moving the clip member with its attendant glare reducing polymeric sheet element. Further, the sheet element can be radially rotated on the clip member to an angle as needed depending on the driver's seat height and sun's position in the sky.

  • Patent number: 6248414
Abstract: A unitary stack of paper sheets has alternating individual paper sheets and individual release liners which are loosely bonded together in a manner whereby an individual paper sheet is easily removed and used as a base. Each paper sheet in the unitary stack has a pressure sensitive adhesive partially covering each face thereof in approximate aligned areas of the respective faces. A back face of the individual sheet is adhered to a substrate while a front face holds an item for posting. In use, an individual paper sheet is readily removed from the unitary stack, adhered on its back face to the substrate, and then an item posted on its front face.

  • Patent number: 6244802
Abstract: A cargo hold system is for use in motor vehicles. The system comprises a molded floor mat configured to fit in a defined area of the vehicle, e.g. a back cargo area. The molded floor mat is made from a carpet which has looped fibers extending from its surface. The system also includes at least one rigid retention member having at least two linear legs connected at substantially right angles. The retention member further has an upstanding vertical wall and a substantially flat bottom wall. The bottom wall has adhered to it hook-type fasteners. In use, the hook-type fasteners on the rigid retention member interact with the looped fibers of the molded floor mat to create a rearrangeable system to hold in place a variety of different shaped and sized articles.

  • Patent number: 6209569
Abstract: A safety shut-off valve assembly is especially for use with a dispenser unit used at retail gasoline service stations. The shut-off valve assembly comprises an open-top fuel flow chamber for permanent mounting at a base of the fuel dispenser, a removable cover plate with a break-away tube member extending therefrom, and a bonnet valve mounted in the open-top fuel flow chamber. An ingress opening in the fuel flow chamber receives a terminus of a primary supply pipeline. The terminus of the break-away tube member serves as an egress for the fuel. The bonnet valve has a plate disc to close off the break-away tube member terminus when needed. When the dispenser unit is disturbed such as by an accidental bumping, the bonnet valve is activated to prevent further flow of fuel into the dispenser unit. The assembly prevents an accumulation of fuel vapors and allows ready access to the primary pipeline for periodic inspection or replacement.

  • Patent number: 6119398
Abstract: A tilt window balance shoe assembly is used with a double hung window and provides three directional locking. The balance shoe assembly comprises a slide block, a center cam, a pair of brake shoes, and a locking lug. The slide block has a head portion with a retention slot for a balance mechanism and a generally cylindrical-shaped hole which receives the center cam. The slide block also has side apertures extending to the hole and a receiving opening in a back face of the slide block and extending to the hole. The center cam has a slot well, cam flats and cam rounds. The slot well receives a terminus of a pivot bar attached to the window. The brake shoes which are positioned in the side apertures and the locking lug which is positioned in the receiving opening are in operable association with the center cam. Tilting of the window about its lower pivot point causes the pivot bar to rotate the center cam.

  • Patent number: 5988427
Abstract: An environmental protection article is for use with transport trucks. The article is a carry-on article which is used in case of accidental fuel line or fuel tank leakage to receive and retain leaked liquid. The article comprises an open-top receptacle with an inflatable sidewall, an air supply tube extending to the sidewall and sealed thereto, and a quick connect valve secured to a distal end of the air supply tube. The article is folded to a compact state for easy storage. In case of emergency use, the driver of the truck can unfold the article and then connect a quick connect valve found on the truck's pressurized air hose to the mating quick connect valve of the article to readily and quickly inflate the open-top receptacle's sidewall to form a vessel. The article, once inflated, is simply slid under the source of leakage to receive and retain the leaked liquid.

  • Patent number: 5975110
Abstract: An adaptor assembly connects a primary pipeline of a double wall pipeline to a dispensing pipeline at a ground level gasoline service station dispenser unit in a manner which permits access to the primary pipeline for installation and periodic replacement purposes. The assembly includes a casing and a disengageable seal system. The casing is attached to a terminus of the secondary pipeline. The disengageable seal system is operably associated with the casing to terminate an annular space between the primary pipeline and the secondary pipeline to contain the flow of any leakage from the secondary pipeline. In some embodiments of the invention, a coupling is attached to a terminus of the primary pipeline to provide a flowpath for conveyance of gasoline. The disengageable seal system is also operably associated with the coupling.
