  • Patent number: 4513395
Abstract: An apparatus and method which may be used with a logic analyzer are provided for acquiring groups of data words from the circuitry of a synchronous logic system where each group contains a qualified data word together with a predetermined number of data words which have preceded it. The apparatus includes a circuit for detecting the qualified word and a data storage device having a plurality of separately-addressable storage locations. Both the qualified data detector and the storage device are logically connected to the synchronous logic circuitry. The apparatus further includes an addressing circuit which responds to the detection of a qualified word and to the presence of data words on the synchronous logic circuitry by producing storage addresses which are provided to the storage device for storing the data word groups in successive storage locations.

  • Patent number: 4510917
Abstract: A downdraft furnace comprises a combustion component associated with a heat exchange component. The combustion component includes a fuel chamber, a primary combustion chamber and a secondary combustion chamber operatively interconnected by a constricting throat opening. Log support structure is provided to carry split logs and at an angle of approximately thirty degrees from the horizontal. The support structure and the logs define a primary air flow passage directed toward the throat opening through which primary air flow is directed at the bottom portions of the fuel segments. The inlet includes closure means to restrict and vertically vary slightly the path of primary air flow. Passage means are provided to introduce secondary air directly at the throat opening. The inlet includes closure means to restrict and vertically slightly vary the path of primary air flow.

  • Patent number: 4507886
Abstract: A sign for displaying prices and other information, in which at least one numeral character is changeable to display any numeral from zero through nine. A plurality of flap members are each pivotably attached to a flat foundation portion of the sign by resilient clips which hold a portion of each flap closely against a flat front side of the foundation member, thus holding the entire flap against the front side of the sign to prevent the flaps from being caught by wind. The flaps can be overturned by use of a tool including a spatula-like end, to display selectively a background colored face of the flap, covering a contrastingly colored portion of the foundation member, or to display the opposite face of the flap, which is of the contrasting color, and uncover the contrastingly colored portion of the foundation member. The spring clips are movable to permit the flap to be overturned, yet resiliently urge the flap against the front side of the foundation member at other times.

  • Patent number: 4506714
Abstract: A lathe for cutting a spiral strip of veneer from the surface of a log includes motor-driven mechanisms for adjusting the knife blade pitch angle and edge height, and for moving a pressure head relative to the knife to adjust the vertical gap and horizontal gap between the knife edge and the roller bar, and provides sensors for determining the actual positions of movable elements of the lathe, thus enabling computer-controlled adjustment of the movable elements of the lathe during lathe operation. A knife clamp of the lathe includes a plurality of separate clamp segments for pressing against different portions of a knife bar to hold it firmly, resisting deformation and rocking of the knife bar. Fluid-pressure-biased bearings eliminate looseness between relatively movable parts of the lathe, reducing the amount of variation of thickness in veneer produced using the lathe. Veneer thickness is controlled by monitoring cumulative movement of the lathe spindles and the main feed carriage.

  • Patent number: 4505012
Abstract: A sling swivel for removably attaching a sling of flat webbing or other strap material to a rifle or other firearm includes a loop member for receiving the webbing. The loop has a neck extending away from one side. A pivotable shaft carrying a movable link member extends through the neck and is spring-biased to urge the movable link toward the neck. A mounting pin is mounted on one end of the movable link member and is slidably receivable in a hole associated with the neck or a fixed link member. Moving the movable link from its normal position allows the mounting pin to be placed through an eye on a rifle, to attach the swivel to the rifle. The spring-biased pivotable shaft mounting pin is received within the hole. A stop extending from the neck, alongside the movable link, protects the movable link against being pushed away from the neck by an eye of a rifle on which the swivel may be mounted.

  • Patent number: 4484404
Abstract: A protective carrier for holding a loaded spare magazine in a position of readiness for immediate insertion into operative engagement with a firearm. A latch release mechanism is operable simultaneously with the operation of the magazine release mechanism of the firearm, permitting an empty magazine and a loaded spare magazine to be released together, the empty magazine being allowed to fall clear of the firearm while the loaded spare magazine is grasped and inserted into the weapon for use in a minimum amount of time. The spare magazine carrier of the invention protectively surrounds the open upper end of the spare magazine to shield cartridges held therein against contamination by dirt, mud, and the elements, in order to help avoid malfunction or damage of the weapon.

  • Patent number: 4483475
Abstract: A nail driving tool includes a plunger rod attached to one end of a cylindrical handle including a radially extending finger guard located at the end of the handle nearer the plunger rod. A guide tube fits slidably on the plunger rod and has a flange extending radially from one end. When the flanged end of the guide tube is adjacent to the handle the plunger rod can be pushed through the guide tube until the driving face of its tip is approximately even with the opposite end of the guide tube. When the plunger rod is inserted into the guide tube with the flanged end away from the handle, the tube end fits to a predetermined depth into a cavity in the handle, exposing the tip of the plunger rod to that extent beyond the flange, for countersinking nails to the predetermined depth.

  • Patent number: 4483089
Abstract: A cup-like protective carrying device for holding a pistol reloader of the type which carries a plurality of pistol cartridges arranged to be simultaneously inserted into the several chambers of a revolver cylinder has a generally cylindrical protective shell wall and a closed bottom from which a pair of elongate arms extend upwardly, passing between adjacent ones of the cartridges. A catch on each of the arms includes camming surfaces for engaging a portion of the revolver reloader, resiliently deflecting the arms to permit the catches to ride over the portion of the reloader and thereafter elastically engage the reloader to hold it within the carrier. Provision is made for riveting the carrier to a leather slide loop or a holster belt to carry a charged revolver reloader ready for immediate use.
