  • Patent number: 8258755
Abstract: A method of charging a secondary battery and a charging device that can improve stability and extend the life span of the battery. When the secondary battery includes a plurality of cells, the charging method is changed when a voltage imbalance from 100 mV to 300 mV occurs among the cells. In that range, the charging method changes from a constant current-constant voltage charging method to a pulse-charging method. When the voltage imbalance is 300 mV or more, the electricity path is blocked, shutting down the battery. When the voltage imbalance is 100 mV or less, the constant current-constant voltage charging method is maintained. The method and device also stop charging when the battery reaches full charge.

  • Patent number: 8257400
Abstract: A stabilization device includes a first bone anchoring element, a second bone anchoring element, and a rod-shaped element for connecting the first and the second bone anchoring elements. The rod-shaped element includes a curved section, that undergoes an elastic deformation under the action of a force acting on the rod-shaped element via an anchoring element. The rod-shaped element and the anchoring elements are arranged so that deformation occurs when a force acts in a main direction of motion of bone parts or vertebra relative to each other, whereas a deformation is suppressed when a force acts in a direction that is essentially perpendicular to the main direction of motion.

  • Patent number: 8258756
Abstract: A current breaking method of a rechargeable battery and a battery pack using the same. The current breaking method includes: measuring a current value of a current flowing through a high current path of a rechargeable battery; measuring a duration time of the current flowing through the high current path; setting a permission time for which the current is permitted to flow; and interrupting the current flow when the duration time exceeds the permission time. Thus, the timing for interrupting the current flowing through the high current path of the rechargeable battery is accurately calculated, thereby preventing overheating and explosion of the rechargeable battery.
