  • Patent number: 4630781
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing crushing rolls from a crushing apparatus is disclosed in which arms means mounted on a movable frame supporting movable crushing rolls which move with the movable frame are utilized to remove stationary crushing rolls mounted on a stationary supporting frame to a position at which the stationary rolls may be lifted from the crushing apparatus. With the stationary and movable frames adjacent to each other, the arm means are placed in supporting engagement with the stationary crushing rolls mounted on the stationary frame. The crushing rolls mounted on the stationary frame are then released from its support so that the stationary crushing rolls are supported by the arm means. The movable frame is then moved away from the stationary frame to move the stationary crushing rolls supported by the arm means to a position at which the stationary crushing rolls may be lifted from the arm means.

  • Patent number: 4625592
Abstract: A die for repetitively cutting shapes out of material such as paper and cloth includes a continuous, seamless metal wall defining a central opening having a predetermined shape substantially the same as a shape it is desired to cut. A cutting surface is disposed at the top of the metal wall, the cutting surface defining the outline of the shape it is desired to cut. Such dies are formed by cutting a die blank out of a block of metal, the outline of the die blank corresponding generally to the shape it is desired to cut. At least part of the interior of the die blank is removed to form a modified die blank with a central opening having substantially the same shape as the shape it is desired to cut. A cutting edge is formed on one surface of the modified die blank adjacent the central opening by electric discharge machining.

  • Patent number: 4617709
Abstract: A coal crusher roll includes a smooth tubular cylindrical back-up roll having a series of regularly spaced tapped radial holes to receive bolts by which eight identical shell segments may be fastened on the back-up roll. The holes at the axial ends of the segment are undercut to provide a rabbet into which fits the tang of a special lifting hook by which the segment can be easily handled by a lightweight crane. A recess in the central part of the segment defined by a peripheral berm around the backside of the segment reduces the weight of the segment, provides a place for receiving balancing weights, and simplifies the face fit machining for the segment with the back-up roll.
