  • Patent number: 5279232
Abstract: A modular shelving interconnection assembly is disclosed. The assembly has two (2) substantially upright, spaced-apart side panels with holes extending through their lateral surfaces at approximately equal distances from their bottoms. Tabs of shelf support units extend through the holes in the side panels. Pegs in the shape of split, truncated cones extend through the holes in the tab on the outside of the panels, and cooperate with the holes in the tabs and the outside surface of the panels to secure the shelf-support units to the panels. The modular assembly may be repeated in the direction of the shelf support unit to extend it to a wall-length shelving unit.

  • Patent number: 5279577
Abstract: A hypodermic appliance for facilitating a one-handed uncapping and recapping of hypodermic apparatus and the like. An appliance separate from the hypodermic apparatus includes an elongated tapered opening in a plate through which a needle-covering sheath of a hypodermic apparatus is placed. The tip of the sheath abuts a tip holder which provides a fulcrum point for rocking the hypodermic apparatus from the wider portion of the opening to the narrower portion of the opening and vice-versa. The sides of the sheath are gripped in the narrower portion of the opening, whereupon the needle may be withdrawn from the sheath leaving the sheath lodged in the appliance. After using the hypodermic apparatus, the needle is reinserted by the use of only one hand into the sheath, and then the capped hypodermic apparatus is rocked to the wider portion of the opening and withdrawn from the appliance.

  • Patent number: 5262757
Abstract: An electronic audible warning device (10), which includes a power source (18), a motion detector (401), a pleasant tone generator (100, Q1, Q3), a loud piercing tone generator (100, Q1, Q2) and a remote push button activation switch (19) is disclosed. Signaling device (10) provides two distinct features, each responsive to remote activation switch (19). A single depression on push button switch (19) will sound an unobtrusive, pleasant sounding two second pulsating warning tone. Two consecutive pushes on push button (19) will sound an attention-getting pulsating signal, similar to the backup beeper on commercial trucks, which will continue to sound until button (19) is pressed again. An additional feature is provided which is responsive to a motion detector (401). Here, a loud, piercing tone is sounded whenever a bicycle (1) or similarly attached article is moved. The alarm is activated and deactivated via an electrical key switch (402) which is installed directly in main housing (11).

  • Patent number: 5251907
Abstract: A sonic archery beacon (10) is disclosed which employs a circuit (21) carried by an arrow (1) which includes an audible signal generator being configured to mimic the sound of a naturally occurring insect, bird or the like. Circuit (21) is activated by an inertia switch (22) which is responsive to a drastic change in acceleration such as that experienced when an arrow impacts with an object, animal or the ground. The audible signal generator implements an oscillator (23) in combination with a miniature speaker or piezo electric transducer (24) having an output which mimics a cricket. Magnetic/mechanical inertia switch (22) has a magnet (32) slidably positioned within a tube (26) having ferromagnetic objects (34 and 35) at both ends of tube (26). When the magnet (32) is positioned at one end of the tube against the pair of and will close in response to the magnetic field of magnet (25) when the magnet is positioned at that end.

  • Patent number: 5244245
Abstract: Embodiments of a vehicle top cover are shown and described, each having a roof panel and two flexible side panels that form a vehicle-top shape and a means for holding down the rear of the vehicle top cover on the vehicle. The roof panel covers most of the front window, roof, and back window, and is held down on the front window by the windshield wipers or, optionally, is tied to the wipers. The side panels extend from the roof panel and are shut in the vehicle doors to secure the cover to the vehicle and to hang down inside the vehicle interior along the inside of the side windows. The rear edge of the vehicle top cover may be held down by a flap or a weighted flap that is shut in the trunk or by a weight attached to the rear edge of the vehicle top cover that lies on the outside of the vehicle. The flap may also be a stuff bag which is turned inside out and stuffed with the roof panels and side panels for storage.

  • Patent number: 5230481
Abstract: The invention is a dual reel cord take-up device for flat wire cable which has a generally semi-cylindrical upper and lower case half which snap together over a dual-purpose shaft to make two compartments. The first compartment is a cord take-up compartment which is divided in two by a slotted rib on the shaft in that compartment. Flat wire cable is received in both sides of the compartment through apertures in the walls of the compartment. In the second compartment is a flat coil spring fixed on its outside end to a generally cylindrical spring cup within said compartment, and fixed on its inside end to the dual-purpose shaft in that compartment. The spring cup is biased against rotation except to tighten the spring, so the shaft is continually under tension to rotate and retrieve the cable into the take-up compartment.
