  • Patent number: 5225228
Abstract: The invention is a method for preparing a bran from wet distiller's grain (WDG) or distiller's dried grain with solubles (DDGS). In the method sodium bicarbonate, amino acid and potato starch are added to the wet, solid residue from the fermentation of grain. Then, the residue-additive mix is blended and dried to produce a bran which may be utilized on a 50-50 weight basis with wheat flour, for example, in the manufacture of noodles and baked goods.

  • Patent number: 5213022
Abstract: The invention is a portable band sawmill which is able to make bi-directional horizontal cuts, as well as vertical cuts. A special carriage with a U-shaped inner member pivotally connecting two band saw wheel support members makes this possible. The wheel support members of the saw blade carriage are pivotally connected at one end to traveler assemblies which are, in turn, movably connected to vertical members of a generally rectangular, vertical sub-frame. The sub-frame spans the width of, and is, in turn, movably connected at two or more points, at least one on each side, to a generally rectangular horizontal main-frame. The horizontal main-frame supports a log to be cut. The vertical sub-frame is moved back and forth on the main-frame to provide horizontal cuts. The saw blade carriage is moved up and down on the vertical sub-frame by the traveler assemblies to provide horizontal cuts at different heights, and/or vertical cuts. The saw blade carriage, which supports the band saw, can rotate 0.degree.-180.

  • Patent number: 5211437
Abstract: A combination tailgate and ramp assembly 10 formed of a pair of ramps 14 and 20, which when fastened together with fastener brackets 32 and 72 form a conventional tailgate hinged and rotatable about a transverse sliderail 30. Swing pin hinge 68 supports the lower left corner of ramp 14 and swing pin hinge 70 supports the lower right hand corner of right ramp 22 and provides three dimensional rotational ability. When unfastened, ramps 14 and 22 can be rotated down, out and over to form a loading ramp.

  • Patent number: 5209492
Abstract: Embodiments are shown and described, each of a shooting target stand for removable holding a target at various angles and heights relative to the ground. The target stand has a generally two-dimensional frame, with an opening across which the target is placed, and a bottom edge for setting on the ground. The target stand has a pivotal member, which pivotally and lockably attaches near the bottom edge of the frame and props the frame into an upright position. The pivotal member preferably is as thin and two-dimensional as the frame and pivots into the frame opening to be coplanar with the frame and to make the target stand compact for transport and storage. The preferred embodiment is made of straight lengths of widely-available PVC piping, coupled together. The target is attached to the target stand preferably with semi-cylindrical clips that snap on to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5197549
Abstract: The invention is a field onion topping machine with a front-end gathering and lifting assembly 16 which delivers onions to a transport assembly 25 and a substantially horizontal cutting table 26 provided by a moving chain conveyor 15. A fan 17, spaced apart from beneath the cutting table 26 but being connected to beneath the cutting table 26 by suitable ductwork 18, blows a stream of air up through conveyor chain 15 in the area of the cutting table 26, lifting and extending the tops, but not the bulbs of the onions on the chain, into cutter member 27 where the tops are removed and blown out discharge chute 19 by the same stream of air. Onions with their tops removed exit at the back of the machine via discharge assembly 20.

  • Patent number: 5190344
Abstract: A foldable stadium seat (10) is disclosed which is manufactured from a pair of first and second generally planar seat members (11) and (12), which are both products of the same mold. This is made possible by a specific configuration of hinges wherein a first hinge half of a first hinge is attached at one end of the rear edge of the seat member and a second hinge half of a second hinge is positioned at a second end of the rear edge of the seat member. Each of the hinge halves are positioned along the rear edge such that when the rear edge of a second seat member is placed juxtaposition the rear edge of the first seat member, the hinge halves on the two seat members will interfit and can be engaged by a suitable hinge pin (14). Radial stops are formed along the rear edge of both seat members (11) and (12) to provide a radial stop for the foldable single mold stadium seat (10) when it is in the open position, having a first and second seat members (11) and (12) generally perpendicular to one another.

  • Patent number: 5174800
Abstract: The invention is a radon gas adsorber for buildings which comprises an open-cell material containing activated carbon and attached to a backing material providing high resistance to radon gas flow. The adsorber, which traverses the bottom of the building, prevents entry of radon gas into the building from the ground below it by resisting the gas path with the backing material and adsorbing the gas with the activated carbon.

  • Patent number: 5167110
Abstract: Disclosed is a combination bean cutter-windrower (10) which includes a cross bar (11) being attached to the bottom of windrower (2) and located just behind tine pickup reel (3) under roller (5) and conveyors (6) and (7). A plurality of shanks (12) are attached to cross bar (11) and extend therefrom, mostly forward and slightly downward to points below and ahead of pickup reel (3). The front ends of each shank (11) have a blade (14) extending generally horizontally outward therefrom to cut the plants just prior to the pickup reel (11) lifting them up. A pair of row dividers (15) are provided on the right and left sides of the machine. These dividers are hydraulically rotated to aid in separating the entangled vines without damaging the crop. Each divider (15) rests on a skid plate (19) and is disposed to ride in one of the two outer most furrows to separate the entangled vines of the two drill rows adjacent the furrows.
