  • Patent number: 6135039
Abstract: When arch clamp feet are replaced with other, set screws fastening a retaining plate are all removed, and the same set screws are fastened again to the retaining plates after the replacement of the arch clamp feet, which takes time and labor. Accordingly, the replacement of the arch clamp feet involved in the change of working process in a sewing mill, causes the deterioration of the rate of operation. A arch clamp foot pressing device is provided with a carrying unit which moves arch clamp foot lifting levers substantially horizontally along axes connecting between tip end portions and base end portions of the arch clamp foot lifting levers while it is guided by a pin, wherein the arch clamp foot lifting levers are moved in the direction of the base end portions by the carrying unit so that the tip end portions of the arch clamp foot lifting levers are disengaged from slots of arch clamp feet.

  • Patent number: 6132608
Abstract: A filter sheet positioned between plates (14) of a filter press has a fluid-impermeable wax layer (11) sealing the sheet's perimeter. The wax preferably comprises ethylene bis stearamide and has a durometer reading of about 75 to about 100 Shore A hardness at 25.degree. C. and 85.degree. C., a melt point of about 110.degree. C. to about 180.degree. C., and a viscosity of less than about 100 cp at 155.degree. C. The wax layer increases the useful life of the filter sheet while providing a sheet which is easily released from a filter press and which retains integrity along the seal during repeated hot water sanitations.

  • Patent number: 6125975
Abstract: An electromagnetic disk brake is compact, self-sealing, self-contained, has relatively few components, and is relatively easy to fabricate and to install when compared to traditional electromagnetic disk brakes. Self-containment and self-sealing are achieved by providing a skirt on the field cup that extends over the remaining moving components of the brake and that is attached, preferably by a press-fit, to a reaction plate at the inner end of the brake. The need for stand-offs to set the air gap of the brake can be eliminated by suitable control of the press-fitting of the field cup onto the reaction plate. For electric motor braking applications, the reaction plate can form the endbell of the electric motor, thereby combining the endbell, mounting plate and reaction plate in a single plate. Simplicity and ease of assembly of a spring-applied brake are enhanced further by employing a single compression spring at the center of the brake rather than a plurality of peripherally-spaced springs.

  • Patent number: 6123272
Abstract: A nozzle assembly including a nozzle turret rotatably mounted on a body. The body has a face, an outlet in the face, and an annular seat in the face, surrounding the outlet. A relatively non-compressible strut extends from the face of the body, while a relatively non-compressible spacer abuts the face. A compressible sealing member is positioned in the seat and, when not compressed, extends out of the seat and further from the face of the body than the spacer. The turret has a bore rotatably received on the strut, and the turret abuts the spacer. Nozzles are arrayed in the turret such that the nozzles sequentially align with the outlet of the body as the turret is rotated on the strut. A fastener secures the turret to the strut such that the turret compresses the sealing member to provide a fluid-tight seal between the outlet and the nozzle aligned with the outlet. According to one embodiment, the nozzle assembly further includes structure for indexing the rotation of the turret with respect to the body.

  • Patent number: 6116131
Abstract: In an apparatus for shearing multi-walled workpieces, such as metal framing studs, a base support defines a blade gap therebetween, and a guillotine-like blade is slidably received within the gap for shearing the workpieces. A pair of first supports are each slidably mounted on a respective base support. A pair of second supports are also each slidably mounted on the base support, and are spaced apart from and face the first supports to thereby define an adjustable-width channel therebetween. Each of the supports defines a blade-like edge for engaging an elongated, multi-walled workpiece, such as a framing stud, which is received within the channel, and the first and second support surfaces are each moved into contact with a respective wall of the workpiece to support the workpiece. The supports can be oriented relative to one another such that the axis of the channel, and a longitudinal axis of the workpiece received within the channel can be oriented at a desired angle relative to the blade.

  • Patent number: 6112189
Abstract: A system calculates the mutual satisfaction between negotiating parties and maximizes their mutual satisfaction over a range of decision variables and does so without requiring the parties to identify themselves and their positions to each other. For automatically negotiating agreements between multiple parties, a computer accepts a satisfaction function from an offering party who defines his degree of satisfaction to agree to a range of terms upon which the party is desirous of negotiating as a function of the relevant decision variables. The computer then accepts input from all other parties regarding their degree of satisfaction to agree to each of the terms as a function of a particular relevant decision variable. The computer then calculates a satisfaction function for each of these terms based on all of the individual inputs.

  • Patent number: 6102665
Abstract: An electronic control system is disclosed to control and to prevent damage to a standalone or a network of oil free, two stage compressor packages. The electronic control system uses pressure and temperature sensors to detect actual shutdown conditions or predict shutdown conditions based on the operating state of the compressor package and the current temperatures or pressures of the air at strategic locations in the compressor package. It has been determined through experimentation that, if the pressure at the inlet of the stage two compressor is less than the discharge pressure of the stage two compressor by more than an allowable value, then a high temperature condition will occur in the stage two compressor and cause the compressor to seize.
