  • Patent number: 5877451
Abstract: An improved conduit has a cross sectional profile which generally provides an elongate support structure having at least one anchoring structure extending from the support structure to engage any groove on a base board structure to enable the conduit to be "snapped" into a place of consistent support. Generally, the conduit will be pushed down directly against the support structure to enable the support structure to either become anchored or to flex against and secure the engagement of the anchoring structure. A variety of embodiments take advantage of the widest variety of corner configurations in order to provide the widest applicability of the conduit.

  • Patent number: 5877837
Abstract: An opthalmic shading device depends from a structure worn on the head and provides a shading structure which may be mounted between a source of light to be attenuated and the human eye. A shading structure is attached to a flexible rod which depends from a mounting bracket which is attached to another structure supported by the head, preferably to head wear or to an eye wear frame's temple member. The flexible rod enables the user to adjust the position and angle of the shading structure to interpose it between the user's eye and the light source to be blocked or attenuated. One of the shading structures may be larger than the other, especially where one light source to be blocked presents a larger area of projection than the other. In one embodiment, the shading assemblies depend from a top frame including a brow span and hinged temple arms with lower structures being excised, the top frame fittable on top of conventional eye wear with the shading structure movable to its operable position.

  • Patent number: 5875829
Abstract: An improved bearing mechanism works in conjunction with the control rod of a vertical blind system or a roller shade system to provide superior bearing and load handling capability. A conical bore has a plurality of grooves into the surface of the conical bore. A series of cylindrical rollers are supported within the grooves, and against a central rotational member having a conical surface for bearing against the rollers. A set screw is used to control the seating of the central rotational member within the conical bore, is used to make up any tolerance created through the manufacturing process, and can be used to increase the tension necessary to hold a roller shade in place.

  • Patent number: 5862041
Abstract: An improved circuit and device uses a dual primary winding transformer, where the primary windings are connected in series, and where each winding has a center tapped ground. A series of four switches are attached to the ends of the two primary windings to sequentially feed the primary windings. The switches are controlled by a pair of oscillators, the first two switches on one primary winding controlled by a first oscillator, and the second two switches of the other primary winding controlled by a second oscillator. Both the first and second oscillator are controlled by a phase displacement controller which can vary the relative timing of the two oscillators to control the transformer output. A zero phase angle delivers maximum power, while a 180.degree. phase displacement delivers zero power, enabling precise control across the zero to full power spectrum. A series of feedback controls measure the current and voltage of the output of a rectifier bridge to even more closely control the power output.

  • Patent number: 5849144
Abstract: The tape dispensers of the present invention employ a variety of features which may be used singly or in conjunction with the other features. The features include a mechanism which extends the blade when pivotal pressure is applied to a shield or lever, thus enabling the use of a sharper blade, and in a more extended configuration during the cutting of tape. Another feature is the fitting of a smaller sized spool to engage smaller diameter cores on which tape is provided with an adapter which fits onto the smaller sized spool and having a helixed slot is provided to insure that as the tape is being dispensed, the adapter is continuously urged into full engagement with the smaller sized spool. Other features are embodied into a base-type tape dispenser which includes a manual mechanism for obtaining lengths of tape, combined with the use of the portable portion which may be removed and used as a hand-held dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5848633
Abstract: The improved system utilizes a track (51) which has a bowed internal surface to prevent the wheel of the carrier (17) from frictional engagement with the side of the track (51). The curved surface (55) which faces the wheels (27) will not be engaged by the wheels (27) even where the carrier (17) turns to one side or the other. This is accomplished while leaving the innermost portions of the raceway (53) in the same width position with regard to the wheels (27) as is usual to prevent the carrier (17) from coming off-track. The tolerances for the inner corners of the raceway (53) opposing the wheels (27) may be reduced to further prevent the possibility of jamming in the track (51).

  • Patent number: 5848632
Abstract: An improved system utilizes a series of structures which permit magnetic closure to be used in existing carriers and components. Magnetic support structures include members which ride in the carrier, as well as special size members which mount in the lead or wand carrier and which reside in the vertical blind track end caps. All of the structures are installable as retro-fit and which can work with existing tracks, carriers and end caps, even though these structures have been optimized for small size.

  • Patent number: 5845773
Abstract: The golf bag has an inner portion and an outer portion. The inner portion has a first variation of which several embodiments are shown having from 12 to 15 storage spaces. a second variation has 14 spaces subdivided by three linear parallel chords across the circular collar of a golf bag. Both configurations provide a golf club storage configuration which helps circumferentially distribute the load from the weight of the clubs about the internal periphery of the golf bag, while providing an aesthetically pleasing fanciful pattern. The inner section is made up of material sewn along the axial length of the inner section and which may be supported by a more rigid tubular exterior, or which may be anchored.

  • Patent number: 5842712
Abstract: An improved frame involves two main principles which contribute to a superior bicycle frame. The first principle involves the use of a tear drop cross sectionally shaped down tube which is oriented with the small radius side facing forward and down. This orientation of the tube, for a given size of bicycle frame yields an unexpectedly high force to failure characteristic. In the case of a forward shock as by hitting a pothole, rock, or log, the resulting frame will be much more resistant to damage. Secondly, the preferred embodiment of the frame includes three sections, including a teardrop section, a transition section in which the teardrop shape transitions to a round shape, and a length of straight tube. The transition to a round shape, with or without a length of constant circular round shape adds rigidity to the bottom of the frame to provide provide increased lateral support.

  • Patent number: 5841636
Abstract: An expansion structure for compact computers to install expansion circuit boards therein is provided. This expansion structure is small in dimension to save space in a compact computer and also allows easy installation of the expansion circuit boards. The expansion structure includes a base board on which an expansion circuit board is mounted, an enclosure having at least one engaging slot for accommodating the base board therein, and a main board which is mounted in the enclosure and formed with an electrical connector. The electrical connector is mounted in a connector receptacle provided on one edge of the engaging slot for the main board to have an electrical connection with the expansion circuit board. In installation the base board is inserted into the engaging slot allowing electrical connection pins on the expansion circuit board to come into contact with the electrical connector. After that securing means is used to secure the expansion circuit board in position in the engaging slot.
