  • Patent number: 6363877
Abstract: The power boat includes a bow and a stern, a hull with a longitudinal dimension extending from the bow to the stern, and a platform extending across the stern for enabling boarding of the boat, the platform being located at or slightly above the water surface when the boat is stationary in the water. The hull has a planing zone located at a stern region of the hull shaped so that a longitudinal line extending along the surface of the hull from the bow to the stern upon reaching the planing zone turns upwardly towards the water surface relative to the longitudinal line forwardly of and before reaching the planing zone. When the boat is travelling through the water at speed, drag of the water travelling relatively along the planing zone assists stable travel of the boat through the water. The planing zone is located below the boarding platform.

  • Patent number: 6357827
Abstract: A portable seat provides improved comfort and includes a single, pair, or multiple numbers of moving seating assemblies. A motion mechanism provides each seating assembly with at least one of total rocking, vertical, lateral, and turning movement and in one embodiment generally constrains the seat members of the seat assemblies from interference with each other. The seating assemblies are provided at a neutral angle that corresponds to the particular application of the seat. The amount of rocking movement and/or vertical movement is based on the neutral angle. In concert, the neutral angle orientation, rocking movement, and vertical movement cause the weight supported by an occupant's seat bones, posterior, and thighs to be optimally distributed on the seating assembly, improving seating comfort as applied to a given seating environment.

  • Patent number: 6342836
Abstract: A communication system is provided which can be realized in a number of ways to facilitate baggage tracking and recovery. In the most rudimentary realization, the traveler receives a signal from transmitters placed in the baggage which can identify the presence of each item of baggage by a code number which may show either as the code number or as a user supplied personal designator for a particular item of luggage. The transmitter is inexpensive and low power but works well in the aircraft environment and causes no interference with aircraft control, communication or navigation equipment. Advanced versions of the invention include programmability and transponder control as well as enhanced audio signaling also include structure which can sense an aircraft environment based upon pressure, vibration and acceleration to provide control to portable electronic devices in response to sensing the take-off, cruise and landing conditions.

  • Patent number: 6341631
Abstract: An on/off valve for a funnel having a tapered funnel outlet tube which has a substantially circular cross-section and which has a larger diameter inlet end and a smaller diameter outlet end, and features a substantially spherical occluding element in the tapered outlet tube. The diameter of the occluding element is such that the occluding element rests against the inner wall of the tapered outlet tube to close the funnel outlet tube to prevent passage of liquid therethrough and to permit the sealing at a variety of angular displacements of the spherical occluding element. The occluding element's position in the tapered outlet tube is determined by a wire-like element protruding from the occluding element out of the outlet tube's outlet end, and the protruding element extends substantially parallel to the outlet tube's axis and then bends to form a transverse arm which contacts a rim of a vessel being filled by the funnel to start flow therefrom.

  • Patent number: 6328538
Abstract: The integrated electric fuel pump provides at least three sets of four internally threaded bores, one set on one side of the fluid pump housing, a second set oppositely located with respect to the first set, and a third set disposed toward the end of the fluid pump housing. This enables the integrated electric fuel pump to be secured with four threaded members, complete with rubber isolators, and oriented in three ways, two involving a 180° rotation of the fuel pump which will enable the inlet and outlet to change sides. At one end of the fluid pump housing, an electric motor is integrated with the brushes of the motor supported by the integrated pump housing to enable larger brushes and longer urged brush support structures. The metal wall of the housing draws heat from the brushes of the electric motor, and provides spreading and larger surface radiation of the heat along the pump body as well as some heat transfer into the fuel passing within the pump body.

  • Patent number: 6325602
Abstract: A light-weight vacuum pump has a multi-wiper member circular wiper member support and impeller which is eccentrically mounted within a pump housing. The multi wiper member circular support carries from about five to nine wiper members each mounted within a slot extending substantially the length of the support, with each wiper member being centrifically urged outwardly to wipingly engage an inner surface of a round or elliptical walled pump housing. Eccentric action enables the wiper members to be extended to create a large space between adjacent wiper members as an inlet is passed. As the wiper members pass by the inlet, the acentric cylindrical wall of the pump housing begins to compress the wiper members into the support, thereby reducing the space between adjacent wiper members in a compressive manner.

  • Patent number: 6290664
Abstract: An extended coverage leg brace having an up and across upper and down and across lower structure carries a number of extended adjustment areas. The structure provides an extended length moment engagement to reduce pressure on the upper and lower leg of the user, while the adjustment areas facilitate and enable the user to form the brace to a configuration which will better fit the user's leg shape and topology. The shape of the upper and lower supports in addition to smaller adjustment area loops produces a large open space which avoids over covering the skin of the upper and lower leg to promote air and cooling to significant areas of the upper and lower leg. A custom pad set has raised areas which fit somewhat through the open spaces left in the looping upper and looping lower structural supports which enable the use of lighter weight and a lesser amount of more efficient padding, which also promotes “breathing” adjacent the leg.

  • Patent number: 6286822
Abstract: The devices and systems encompass the provision of a plurality of supports specially designed to closely support a work piece immediately adjacent the edge being worked, ground or polished. The top surfaces of the supports are machineable in place on the working table to insure that all are brought to exactly the same height to prevent adjacent supports from creating uneven support and adjacent shear forces. The top members of the supports are a hardened plastic which will not enable the work piece to displace downwardly but which will provide a vacuum downward force. The hardened plastic top of the edge hold down are machineable without losing the ability to act as a vacuum hold down. The shape of the hardened plastic top portions of the edge hold downs are complementary to each other and provide gently interlocking support and can be placed closely enough to eliminate the possibility of any significant amount of work piece area exposure which could produce shear forces.
