  • Patent number: 4166259
Abstract: A flat, high frequency cable having a number of longitudinal conductors, is provided with a transverse conductance between said longitudinal conductors. The transverse conductance is substantially smaller than the conductivity of said longitudinal conductors to provide a defined attenuation along the cable. The transverse conductance is determined by a plurality of discrete components such as resistors and capacitors electrically connected to said longitudinal conductors at spaced intervals. The present cable may comprise two or three conductors.

  • Patent number: 4163630
Abstract: The rotor blades or wings of the present helicopter rotor structure are interconnected by tension or carrier bars so that diametrically opposite rotor blades or wings form a pair. The tension bars are substantially stiff against bending, but permit some bending. The blade angle bearings are movable in the blade flapping direction, as well as in the blade lead-lag direction. At least one blade angle bearing of a pair of such bearings permits an axial movement of the respective tension or carrier bar, whereby the latter is able to take up bending loads.

  • Patent number: 4156335
Abstract: Strip sections holding securing elements such as nails or screws are stacked, for example, in cartons so that the nail heads or screw heads come to rest in alternate opposite directions. For this purpose the strips slide down an inclined guide chute in a given direction until the heads are held by support elements which are movable alternately and laterally outwardly substantially at right angles to said given direction. Thus, one support element still supports the heads while the other support is withdrawn from the holding position whereby the strips, as they fall downwardly, rotate alternately, through an angle of 90.degree. whereupon the strips are intercepted, for example, by a tiltable chute.

  • Patent number: 4156391
Abstract: The top of a table such as a drafting table which may be adjustable in its elevation, is counterbalanced by counterbalancing elements exerting an approximately constant balancing force. The counterbalancing elements comprise at least one leaf spring forming a bow inserted between the table top and a counter abutment below the table top so that the leaf spring or springs is biassed to form said bow, whereby the load on the bow has a tendency to cause a lateral flexure of the bow. The arrangement is such, that the downwardly directed force component caused by the weight of the table top and the pressure exerted by the bent leaf spring or springs, are directed opposite to each other.

  • Patent number: 4154557
Abstract: The blades or wings of a rotary wing aircraft are secured to the rotor head n a non-rigid manner by means of a carrier bar, however, without any flapping hinges and without any lagging hinges. The carrier bar is supported on the rotor head. The connection of each wing to the respective end of the carrier bar is such, that the longitudinal wing axis is excentrically displaced relative to the central longitudinal axis of the carrier bar in the direction in which the forces of the air are effective. The displacement or spacing between the two axes is such that at least a partial compensation of the occurring bending moments is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4153179
Abstract: A method and an apparatus useful for a group of wires, such as a telecommunication cable including a multiplicity of cores, as when the wires are individually tested for continuity or defective contact. The group of wires are pressed against the outer periphery of a rotating disc formed with a suitable number of notches each dimensioned to accommodate one wire and are forced into the notches one by one while the disc or the wires are being rocked longitudinally of the wires. The wires individually received in the notches are transferred by the rotation of the disc while being confined in the notches by a confining member provided around the disc and facing the outer periphery as slightly spaced apart therefrom. Thus the group of wires can be separated and transferred one after another reliably, efficiently and automatically.

  • Patent number: 4153390
Abstract: The present rotor structure for rotary wing aircraft, such as helicopters, s constructed to minimize the mass unbalance which normally occurs due to the lead-lag of the rotor blades or wings. For this purpose all the bearings supporting the rotors on the rotor heads are constructed as bearings permitting an axial movement of the tension bars which interconnect the wings of a pair of wings. In addition, the wing interconnecting bars are bending-resistant and connected with each other at their crossing point by a centering device which is freely movable in the rotor plane and relative to the rotor head. The connection of the bars by the centering device is rigid in the longitudinal, axial direction of the tension bars.

  • Patent number: 4146081
Abstract: The present method and apparatus for die casting of metals such as aluminum, is especially suitable for casting under vacuum. The casting is performed under such operating conditions that a contact between the molten metal being cast and the free atmosphere is avoided all the way from the melt to the casting proper. For this purpose, the present casting apparatus includes a closeable and evacuable transport container connected to the casting apparatus proper by a coupling which is also evacuable. The transport container is placed on a filling chamber and the evacuating apparatus is arranged to simultaneously evacuate the filling chamber, the transport container and the coupling between the transport container and the filling chamber proper. The evacuation takes place in a direction opposite to the flow direction of the metal being cast. If desired, further evacuating means may be provided for evacuation of the filling chamber and the die in the direction of the metal flow.

  • Patent number: 4146071
Abstract: The present power driver handles fasteners of varying length mounted on a strip or belt, through a touch-down foot which accommodates fasteners of different length to eliminate wasted motion of the driver. The fasteners are also prevented by said touch-down foot from tipping or going into a workpiece at an angle. The depth to which the fasteners are driven into the workpiece is controllable and any irregularities in the mounting of the fasteners on the strip or belt are compensated.

  • Patent number: 4145638
Abstract: The present discharge lamp system comprises two or more serially connected discharge lamps connected across a pair of power input supply terminals through a ballast circuit and two or more serially connected semiconductor starter circuits. The starters are connected in parallel with their respective discharge lamps and have inherent breakdown voltages, whereby the total value of the breakdown voltages for each starter is higher than the source voltage at the power supply terminals. The system further comprises voltage dividing circuit elements enabling the conduction of one of the starters before the conduction of the other starter or starters in response to the source voltage, whereby the starters operate sequentially. At least one of the starters employs a backswing booster including a series circuit of a nonlinear inductor and a switching semiconductor and a capacitor connected in parallel with the series circuit to provide a sufficient starting voltage for the associated discharge lamp.

  • Patent number: 4141835
Abstract: The present mass transfer apparatus between two media is especially adapted to blood dialysis. To assure an undisturbed flow of the blood through the dialyser and to avoid coagulation all flow channels are shaped to avoid dead corners and choking zones so that the blood is prevented from forming wakes or so-called "dead waters" in its flow path. For this purpose a hollow space is formed adjacent to the open ends of the hollow fibers. The inlet and/or outlet to this hollow space may extend radially axially or tangentially.

  • Patent number: 4139301
Abstract: The present distance measuring laser apparatus measures the delayed time occurring between two signals derived from a laser beam and a reflected light beam and received in two separate channels. One channel is the reference channel and provides a starting signal when a light signal is emitted by the laser. • Patent number: 4138882
Abstract: A transducer bridge circuit arrangement includes at least two bridge circuits connected in parallel to each other. Any interaction affecting the sensitivity of the bridge circuits relative to each other is eliminated. For this purpose the circuit arrangement includes two power input terminals and two measured signal output terminals. In order to avoid a signal component, which represents force couple related load components between the two measured signal output terminals, these terminals are arranged on the one hand between the two strain gauges which measure tension or compression only and, on the other hand, between the two strain gauges which measure tension as well as compression. In such an arrangement the power input terminals and the measured signal output terminals are effectively rotated by 90.degree. relative to prior art transducer circuit arrangements, whereby interaction between the individual bridge circuits in a multiple transducer system is eliminated.
