  • Patent number: 8003128
Abstract: A drug targeting system for administering a pharmacologically active substance to the central nervous system of a mammal across the animal's blood brain barrier. The drug targeting system comprises nanoparticles made of poly(DL-lactide) and/or poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide), a pharmacologically active substance which is absorbed to, adsorbed to, and/or incorporated into the nanoparticles, and either contains TPGS or comprises a pluronic 188 surfactant coating deposited on the drug-loaded nanoparticles.

  • Patent number: 8002480
Abstract: A device having a support in the form of a base plate for being fixed to a camera such as with the receptacle for a tripod in the base of the camera, a slotted tube extending from the support for holding a spring loaded plunger rod and an actuator pin extending through the plunger rod and through opposing slots in the slotted tube. The plunger is moved by a retractable line from a remote position to cause movement of the actuator pin to actuate the shutter release of the camera.

  • Patent number: 7975433
Abstract: A security door construction has a pair of door hinges fixed to the door, a pair of frame hinges fixed to the frame and a pair of intermediate hinges by combined links which allow the door hinge to swing outside the plane of the door opening when the door is opened through 180°. Slide motion of the door is imparted by a door handle and a reaction rod which acts against a link.

  • Patent number: 7964721
Abstract: A mercury selective fluorescent chemosensor for detecting mercury ions by a compound represented by formula 1 and a novel fluorescent sensitive compound prepared by introducing two aminopyrene functions as a fluorescent sensitive moiety into a binding site of the compound of formula 1 is used for selectively detecting mercury ions are provided. The mercury selective fluorescent sensitive chemosensor is a switch type chemosensor having ON-OFF-type Hg2+-selective fluorescence quenching behavior and is not affected by other coexistent metal ions. Changes in fluorescence of the compounds of formula 1 were analyzed by ratiometric approach using monomer and excimer emissions of the pyrene fluorophore to selectively signal the concentration of mercury ions. The chemosensor can detect mercury ions in a micromolar unit even in a solution including an excess of water. Accordingly, the mercury selective fluorescent chemosensor for detecting mercury ions can be used effectively in environmental and medical applications.

  • Patent number: 7942320
Abstract: A park user management system having a plurality of radio frequency tag readers installed along usable routes in a park for recognizing information stored in a radio frequency tag provided to each park user and an exercise quantity management module for calculating exercise information of each park user using the respective recognition times of the radio frequency tag recognized by the radio frequency tag readers and providing the calculated exercise information to each park user. The park user management system provides a recommendable exercise, a recommendable exercise section, and a recommendable target exercise quantity to each park user, calculates actual exercise quantity of each park user on the day in question, and provides the calculated exercise quantity to each park user.
