  • Patent number: 5050510
Abstract: An apparatus and method of burning trash containing aluminum in a furnace having a moving grate and inclined trays. The grate has an upper and lower part. The inclined trays are provided with one or more inclined plates. The inclined plates are supported on the trays below the upper part of the grate and above the lower part of the grate. Ash and molten aluminum falls through the upper part of the grate, onto the inclined plates, the ash slides off the plates and the aluminum remains on the plates. The plates have holes therethrough to allow air flow for combustion. Some blockage of the holes by aluminum will result over time, but not enough to significantly restrict the flow of combustion air to the combustion area. The trays are removed through the side walls of the furnace for removal of the aluminum when necessary.

  • Patent number: 5043063
Abstract: A magnetic trap made up of a hollow, generally cylindrical body, having an open top, an inlet and an outlet for connecting to a flow line for liquid containing entrained removable magnetic material. There is a removable cover for the hollow body, a plate is supported on the cover, and elongated, spaced non-magnetic tubes are fixed to the cover. Elongated stacks of permanent magnets are attached to the plate and extend through the cover into the tubes. When magnetic material held to the tubes by the magnets is to be removed, the cover can be removed from the body, the magnetic stacks can be pulled out of the non-magnetic tubes with the plate, thereby removing the magnetic fields from the tubes so that the magnetic material held to the tubes falls off of the tubes, thereby cleaning the tubes.

  • Patent number: 5035760
Abstract: A delivery signal system and device and method of delivery indication to indicate the location for a delivery to be made. The delivery signal device includes a polymeric transparent film having indicia thereon. Adhesive holds the delivery signal device to a delivery container. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the delivery signal device includes a paper backing and a polymeric transparent film having an electrostatic charge and indicia thereon formed by a luminescent coating. The electrostatic charge is effective to hold the polymeric transparent film and paper backing together. Adhesive holds the paper backing of the delivery signal device to a delivery container. A release coating on the paper backing on the side facing the adhesive allows the delivery signal device to be readily separable from the delivery container. In use the delivery signal device is removed from the delivery container, and the delivery container is discarded.

  • Patent number: 5024176
Abstract: Needlepoint sheet having channel perforations with octagonal upper and lower openings. Thread drawn through a channel in a diagonal direction is pulled over a flat surface which widens the area covered by the thread. The needlepoint sheet is made of a polymeric material. The perforations are preferably formed into a plurality of aligned rows for receiving the thread. Each channel is enclosed by eight sides which form octagonal upper and lower openings. The width of each of the sides is substantially equal. In a preferred embodiment of the invention each of the sides form a plane, and the height of each of the side planes is substantially equal. In a preferred embodiment of the invention each of the side planes merge along a curved portion of the wall. This distributes the stress during bending of the needlepoint sheet, and reduces cracking and breakage thereof. In use thread is extended through the channels.

  • Patent number: 5020993
Abstract: An articulator having an upper frame having an upper arm and a lower frame having a lower arm. A pivot is provided on the upper arm swingably supporting the upper frame on the lower frame. Adjusting mechanism is provided for adjusting the upper arm relative to the lower arm so that a casting supported on the upper arm can be rotated relative to the lower arm or tilted up and down, forward and laterally, as well as swinging the upper casting relative to the lower casting. The dental articulator simulates the operation of human jaws for use in the manufacture of false teeth. An upper frame representing the upper jaw is mounted to a lower frame by a pair of ball and socket joints which may be adjusted to approximate a specific patient's jaw hinge. The adjusting mechanism can include a computer controlled motor for adjusting the upper arm relative to the lower arm in accordance with X-ray data of a patient's jaw structure.

  • Patent number: 4998471
Abstract: A screen printing system and method is provided in accordance with the invention by using a circular base, a screen, an article to be printed and ink. The circular base has a planar top face. The circular base supports the article to be printed, such as an item of clothing made from cloth. The screen is held in a planar position by a rigid frame. The plane of the screen is positioned above and parallel to the plane of the top face of the circular base. The circular base has a side face with a groove therein which is adapted to hold a resilient flexible annular member. The resilient flexible annular member evenly holds the article to be printed to the circular base so that no wrinkles are allowed to remain in the article to be printed. If wrinkles were allowed to remain in the article to be printed then the pattern of the design to be printed would be distorted on the printed article. The screen includes a fine mesh cloth of fibrous material, such as, silk or nylon or similar filament.

  • Patent number: 4993167
Abstract: A dressing tool gauge for positioning the cutting tool in removable head type dresser devices for grinding wheels. The dressing tool gauge will indicate the proper position for the cutting tool to dress a predetermined shape on the grinding wheel. A member is placed at the position and the cutting tool is slid into engagement with the member. The cutting tool may then be secured in its holder in that position and placed on the dresser device to be used.

  • Patent number: 4985917
Abstract: Apparatus used for local simulation of a metallic pair of 22 Gauge conductors, such as comprising a telephone line, 6.5 miles in length at 70 degrees Fahrenheit consisting of a resistance network. This apparatus is useful for fault identification of telephone line amplifiers, allowing for local activation when used in conjunction with milliampere test meters, in lieu of a technician's required travel to a minimum of 6 miles to perform the same task. This apparatus is useful in that it allows for function testing of typical line amplifiers at the source of the metallic pair.

  • Patent number: 4969371
Abstract: A hob or shaper cutter for making a hub for a misalignment gear coupling having a hub and a sleeve. The hob or shaper cutter has cutting edges. Each cutting edge being inclined at a different angle to the center line of the tooth. The cutting edges are adapted to cut tooth flank surfaces having three adjacent involute shaped areas. Each involute shaped area having a different pressure angle than the involute area adjacent it. The involute areas of each tooth result in teeth with flanks that are generally cylindrical shaped, whereby hub treeth operate with a minimum of interferfence with sleeve teeth when operating with the hub misaligned with the sleeve.
