Abstract: The present invention provides ultrasound imaging catheters, systems and methods for their use which will be particularly useful to monitor the positioning of ablation catheters. In one embodiment, an imaging catheter (10) includes a catheter body (11) having a distal end (12), a proximal end (14) and a longitudinal axis (16). A transducer (20) is rotatably coupled to the distal end. The transducer has an axis of rotation (24) that is at a non-zero angle relative to the catheter body longitudinal axis. Such a configuration provides an exemplary side-looking imaging catheter.

Abstract: Method for securing a foundation form disposed on a moisture barrier membrane. The method can include penetrating the moisture barrier membrane with one end of a stake, sealing a breach in the moisture barrier membrane around a periphery of the stake caused by the penetrating step; and removing a portion of the stake extending above the moisture barrier membrane. A sealing member can be disposed on the stake at a location along an axial length of the stake.
Abstract: At least one flexible appliance (120) and related method (300) for orthogonal, non-planar interconnections of at least a first electronic interface (115) disposed on a substrate (110) to an associated second electronic interface (161) positioned beneath the substrate (110). The flexible appliance (120) is comprised of a planar body (121) having at least one electrical connector (122) extending from and orthogonally oriented relative to the planar body (121). In one aspect of the invention, the electrical connector (122) is four electrical connectors (122). There is at least one aperture (112) formed in the substrate (110) for allowing the first electronic interface (115) to be electrically interconnected to the associated second electronic interface (161). The flexible appliance (120) is positioned on the substrate (110) by automated means.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a linear actuator in which reliability is improved, and performance is also easily improved. The present invention provides a linear actuator including a stator, a movable element having an iron member, and being reciprocatable with respect to the stator, a permanent magnet fixed to the stator so as to be opposed to the iron member, and a coil fixed to the stator. Because both the coil and the permanent magnet are fixed to the stator, electrical current does not have to be supplied to the movable element, and the feeder lines connected to the coil will not be broken due to the movement of the movable element. In addition, the weight of the movable element will not be increased even when the weigh of the permanent magnet is increased in order to obtain high magnetic flux density for improvement in performance. Moreover, because the movable element does not include a magnet, a magnetizing operation does not have to be applied to the movable element.
Abstract: A method for digital communication includes generating time-domain symbols having a predetermined symbol duration in accordance with a discrete multi-tone (DMT) modulation scheme. A cyclic extension is added to each of the time-domain symbols so as to form data blocks having a block length that is not an integer multiple of the symbol duration. A training pattern is generated on one or more tones of the DMT modulation scheme, wherein the training pattern is periodic over a sequence of the data blocks with a period equal to the symbol duration. The sequence of the data blocks is transmitted over a communication channel to a receiver, which processes the training pattern so as to determine a response of the channel to the one or more tones.
Abstract: A method and system for improving the security and control of internet/network web application processes, such as web applications. The invention enables validation of requests from web clients before the request reaches a web application server. Incoming web client requests are compared to an application model that may include an allowed navigation path within an underlying web application. Requests inconsistent with the application model are blocked before reaching the application server. The invention may also verify that application state data sent to application servers has not been inappropriately modified. Furthermore, the invention enables application models to be automatically generated by employing, for example, a web crawler to probe target applications. Once a preliminary application model is generated it can be operated in a training mode. An administrator may tune the application model by adding a request that was incorrectly marked as non-compliant to the application model.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a substrate, at least one semiconductor light emitting device formed in or on the substrate, and upconverting material disposed in or on the substrate. Abstract: A narrow linewidth semiconductor laser device has a semiconductor laser and a low noise current source operatively connected to the laser with the current source being adapted to prevent degradation of the laser's frequency noise spectrum. An optical frequency discriminator provides an error signal representative of the laser's optical frequency and a control circuit has a feedback network that provides a frequency feedback signal that is adapted to the frequency noise spectrum of the frequency discriminator and to the laser's frequency noise spectrum and tuning response. The control circuit also has a sequencer to automatically enable frequency locking of the laser on the frequency reference of the optical frequency discriminator. An enclosure encloses the frequency discriminator to isolate the frequency discriminator from external perturbations.

Abstract: A multi-composite acoustic panel for application to walls or ceilings. The panel is made from 15 to 65% of particles of sawdust with a granulometry of 4 to 60 mesh, 25 to 75% of rubber crumb or other petroleum derivatives or recycled rubber with a granulometry of 4 to 30 mesh and 3 to 20% of a polyurethane elastomer binder, the percentages being expressed by weight with relation to the total weight of the panel. In use the rubber acts as an anti-vibration element and the sawdust acts as an acoustic energy absorber as this type of fibre is hollow-centered which permits an absorption role which the rubber particle does not have. Said particle has the ability to reduce an impact.
Abstract: A high photosensitivity titanium oxide composition includes a plurality of nanosize particles including titanium dioxide and titanium suboxide. The particles are substantially non-stoichiometric (TiO2-x, wherein 0.1<×<0.3 at a surface of the particles, and in the bulk of the particles x is less than at the surface), having a magnetic susceptibility value (?) of at least 0.8·10?6 cm3/g at 300 K and being at least 30% by weight rutile. A related method of forming a high photosensitivity titanium oxide composition includes the steps of providing a titanium chloride compound, such as titanium tetrachloride, an oxygen-containing gas and hydrogen, wherein a concentration of the hydrogen is in a stoichiometric excess (H2:O2) from 2.02:1 to 2.61:1. The titanium chloride compound is burned in the presence of oxygen from the oxygen-containing gas and hydrogen to form plurality of ultrafine particles comprising titanium dioxide and titanium suboxide.

Abstract: A method for data storage includes accepting data for storage in a memory (28) that includes multiple analog memory cells (32). The data is converted to input values. The input values are filtered using a non-linear filtering operation to produce respective shaped values, and the shaped values are converted to output values using a linear spreading transformation with coefficients chosen so that each of the shaped values contributes to at least two of the output values. The non-linear filtering operation is selected so as to reduce a size of an output range in which the output values lie. The output values are stored in the respective analog memory cells.
