  • Patent number: 6816279
Abstract: A network system includes a plurality of printers and a digital copying machine interconnected through a data transmission line, detects a free space in an image memory of each printer, adds a user identification code to image data of a document read in an image reading section of the digital copying machine, and then sends the image data to a printer with the image memory having a sufficient free space so as to store the image data. With this structure, even if the digital copying machine does not have an image memory, it is possible to store the image data subjected to an image formation within the network and omit an image reading process when performing an image formation according to the same image data later. Moreover, with this structure, various processing can be executed on the image data by effectively using the functions of the respective apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 6810548
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus of the present invention includes a roll brush for scrubbing the surface of the substrate, and an ultrasonic nozzle for blowing an aqueous cleaning solution against the surface of the substrate and generating an ultrasonic wave, wherein the roll brush and the ultrasonic nozzle are provided so as to oppose one another so that the substrate can be set in between. With the synergetic effects of brush scrubbing cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning and shower-cleaning, the precision cleaning of the upper surface of the substrate can be performed at a sufficient level of cleanliness. Moreover, in a state where the substrate to be cleaned is set, the roll brush can be cleaned automatically by the ultrasonic nozzle, and it is therefore possible to maintain the roll brush at high level of cleanliness without requiring maintenance operations.

  • Patent number: 6813043
Abstract: Corrected values C1, M1, and Y1 corrected in a quasi-grayscale processing section of an image forming device by an error diffusion technique performed for each channel are evaluated in threshold value sections provided for individual channels, so as to determine whether or not they are greater than threshold values. If an overlapping CMY dot formation detector section detects that the density is higher than the threshold value in all of the three channels, a minimum density channel identifying section instructs a first quantized value substitution section and varies the outputs from the threshold value sections, so that the output in the channel with the lowest density has a value that does not represent dot formation. As a result, overlapping dot formation for the three channels is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 6810156
Abstract: Out of a plurality of pairs of input pixels that face each other across a pixel to be interpolated, that pair which exhibits the highest correlation is selected. Assume that this pair is composed of a first and a second pixel, that the sign of the difference between the value of the input pixel lying adjacently on the left of the first pixel and the value of the first pixel is a, that the sign of the difference between the value of the input pixel lying adjacently on the left of the second pixel and the value of the second pixel is c, that the sign of the difference between the value of the input pixel lying adjacently on the right of the first pixel and the value of the first pixel is b, and that the sign of the difference between the value of the input pixel lying adjacently on the right of the second pixel and the value of the second pixel is d. If a=c or b=d, the average value of the values of the first and second pixels is determined as the value of the pixel to be interpolated.

  • Patent number: 6806940
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a pair of insulating substrates bonded to each other via a sealing material, and liquid crystal filled between a pair of the insulating substrates. A cell gap is formed so as to gradually increase from the center to an end of a display area at room temperature. According to this arrangement, it is possible to smooth out a difference in thermal expansion between the liquid crystal and the sealing material when an atmospheric temperature rises, and it is possible to prevent a cell gap from being too large in the center of the display area. Consequently, an irregular display color can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6804822
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium, which includes a substrate and an amorphous magnetic layer, made of an amorphous magnetic material, for magnetic recording of data, is provided with an underlayer between the substrate and the amorphous magnetic layer, the underlayer being made of amorphous metal element, and having a mean thickness of 10 nm or less. In this manner, movement of magnetic domain walls of the amorphous magnetic layer is effectively limited by minute irregularities on a surface of the underlayer. This realizes a stable formation of a minute recording mark. This realizes recording having a sufficient signal quality, even when the high-density recording is performed by forming such a minute recording mark that a shortest length of the recording mark is less than 100 nm. Moreover, this allows the magnetic recording medium to have a simplified layer structure.

  • Patent number: 6801962
Abstract: A mail server includes a forwarding confirmation section which notifies a mobile phone of receipt of an e-mail, and mail and address forwarding sections which send attached data separated and a user ID to a print server, respectively. Each printer is managed by the print server that includes data holding and stored data search sections for storing the attached data and user ID. The printer has an input section from which the user ID is inputted. The print server is notified of the user ID inputted from the printer so as to search for attached data corresponding to the notified user ID and transfer it to the printer for print. It is thus possible to provide a print service system capable of printing out attached data when not recognized by some mobile devices including a mobile phone, by a nearest printer connected with a broadband network, without increasing communications costs.

  • Patent number: 6797483
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel secretory polypeptides and precursor proteins thereof, which show a high homology to MIA (melanoma inhibitor activity)/CD-RAP (bovine cartilage-derived retinoic acid-sensitive protein); are specifically expressed in the cartilage tissue; and have an effect on the cartilage differentiation. The polypeptides and the DNAs encoding the same can be used for the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of bone and joint diseases or pathological angiogenesis. As well, the polypeptides are useful as a reagent for screening a compound that promotes or inhibits the activity of the polypeptides. The antibody to the polypeptides can be used for the detection, quantification, or neutralization of the polypeptide in a test sample fluid. Further by using the promoter of the present invention, a therapeutic protein can be expressed predominantly in the cartilage tissue for a gene therapy.

  • Patent number: 6798763
Abstract: A partner appliance that communicates with a mobile node is connected via a communication network with a home agent and a foreign agent that relay the communication between the mobile node and the partner appliance. When the mobile node, moving during the communication, comes to be connected to a foreign link of the foreign agent, a moved address is assigned thereto. If the mobile node receives call setup request information regarding data transmission from the partner appliance via the home agent while moving, it determines, based on the received call setup request information, whether real-time transmission is required for the data. If so, the mobile node notifies the partner appliance of the moved address assigned thereto. When the moved address is notified, a communication path is established between the mobile node and the partner appliance, and the partner appliance sends the data to the mobile node via the communication path based on the moved address notified.
