Abstract: To provide a discharge lamp ignition device to light high-intensity discharge lamps in which, during alternating current ignition, the fluctuation of luminous flux on the reversal of polarity of the voltage impressed on the lamp is minimized and in which steady lighting characteristics of the discharge at startup are secured, a discharge lamp ignition device has a capacitor Ch connected to a transformer Th and an intermittent voltage impression arrangement Uj to drive voltage impression on the primary winding Ph, with the secondary winding Sh of the transformer Th constituted so that the voltage generated in the secondary winding Sh can be impressed overlapping the output voltage of an inverter Ui between the electrodes of the discharge lamp Ld by interposing it in the path connecting the output of the inverter Ui and the electrode for the main discharge of the discharge lamp Ld.
Abstract: An electrical terminal with a housing having a terminal chamber formed in it, and two conductor inlets which lead into the terminal chamber for electrical conductors to be connected with a respective conductor connection arrangement formed of a current bar and a clamping leg of a clamping spring, the clamping leg and the current bar forming a spring force clamping terminal for an electrical conductor to be connected, and the two clamping legs each being connected to a contact leg. The electrical terminal can have especially small dimensions by there being only one clamping spring in the housing, the two contact legs being connected to one another and adjoining the housing wall on the edge of the terminal chamber, and by the current bar and the clamping springs being made and arranged such that the current bar is located between the two clamping legs.

Abstract: A mixture formation means for the reformer of a fuel cell system or for a heater. The fuel feed includes a pressure impulse injection means and the mixture formation area is a swirl chamber having a discharge nozzle connected to the pressure impulse injection device. Also included is a fuel heater for preheating the fuel before injection in order to achieve complete vaporization of the fuel, such as diesel fuel.

Abstract: Traditional cuffs for measuring blood pressure use an air chamber enclosed in a non-stretchable fabric to occlude an artery in a limb when supplied with pressurised air. A stethoscope used on the limb is used to monitor blood flow. Application of the cuff is inconvenient and correct placement of the stethoscope chestpiece requires skill. According to the invention blood pressure measurement is facilitated by having the air chamber enclosed in a pre-formed shell-like structure being flexible around the limb and stiff along the limb and by using a linear array of microphones to detect the blood flow noises, the best signal from one of the microphones being automatically selected. Furthermore, the invention provides a facility for correcting the reading in dependence of the amount of wrap of the limb.
Abstract: A process for foaming around a peripheral edge area of a cover (10) for a motor vehicle roof, the cover being placed on or in a foaming tool and the foam mass (18) being fed into the foaming tool such that two foam mass fronts are formed which run around the peripheral edge in the peripheral direction and merge with one another or meet one another in the merging area at a side opposite that at which the foam was introduced. The foaming tool is made such that, in the merging area, the cross section of the foam mass is reduced on the side opposite the ventilation side (40) of the foaming tool that is vented relative to the areas (42, 142) which border the merging area in order to prevent inclusion of gas bubbles in the merging area. Furthermore, a cover for a motor vehicle roof is produced which has a foamed peripheral edge area in which two foam mass fronts, which are formed during the peripheral foaming in a foaming tool, merge with one another.

Abstract: A motor vehicle safety mechanism has a component which can be displaced out of a rest position suddenly into an action position by release of a holding device. Such a motor vehicle safety mechanism is, for example, a head support/roll bar which extends automatically in an accident. The holding device has a latch which fixes the component in the rest position and a ratchet arrangement which holds the latch in the action or engagement position. The ratchet arrangement has ratchet kinematics and an adjustable blocking element. By moving the latch out of the engagement position into the direction of the release position, the ratchet kinematics are moved and the blocking element blocks the movement of the ratchet kinematics.

Abstract: A system for heating and cooling the interior of a motor vehicle includes a first climate control device designed to heat or cool a front area of the interior, and a second climate control device designed to heat or cool a rear area of the interior.
