  • Patent number: 5308629
Abstract: For improving the keeping qualities of certain food products, especially sliced meat products, it is suggested that the food products immediately after they have been packed are subjected to a heat treatment by means of microwave energy, so that they are maintained at a temperature in the interval 50.degree.-80.degree. C., preferably 50.degree.-70.degree. C., during a time period of 5-60 seconds. The food products (12) are moved by means of an endless belt (9) in a path across an elongated wave guide (15, 21) which has at least one slot (19; 22, 23) extending across the whole food products movement path.

  • Patent number: 5303702
Abstract: A cardiac pacemaker having a pacing rate responsive to a control function of a physiological parameter indicative of activity levels. The coefficients of the function are automatically calculated and modified in response to the trend of the measured physiological parameter in order to correspond to the patient real needs. For monitoring the physiological parameter minute ventilation (VE), the basic value VE low and maximum value VE max are calculated in order to vary the slope and intercept of the straight line representative of the control relation of the pacing rate FC by the minute volume VE.

  • Patent number: 5301844
Abstract: A volumetric dry solids materials feeder comprises a supply hopper, a feed trough disposed below the hopper, and an auger disposed in the feed trough to feed out the material. The trough is anchored to a vibration base, on which is mounted a vibratory mechanism. A vibration transfer spring connects the vibration base to a bracket secured to the hopper. Upon activation, the vibratory mechanism vibrates the vibration base and thus the trough at a predetermined frequency, while the spring transfers the vibration to the hopper. The spring lessens the amplitude of the transferred vibration and changes the frequency thereof, so as to minimize interference (primarily harmonic problems) between the vibration of the hopper and trough.

  • Patent number: 5299435
Abstract: A method of knitting a double needle bed fabric in which an inlay thread or yarn 12 is interlaced into the fabric by transferring stitches from the active needles (10) of one needle bed to the needles of the other bed. In this way the inlay 12 is interlaced or "woven" into the fabric without actually forming loops in the inlay 12. This enables materials that cannot be knitted to be incorporated into fabrics securely.

  • Patent number: 5296098
Abstract: A fibre suspension is separated by a filter device having a hollow filter body (1) with a wall (2) of filter material, and a container (3). The entire fibre suspension to be separated is sprayed in the form of at least one liquid jet onto said wall (2) to force a fine fraction of the suspension containing most of said undesired particles through said wall of filter material into the hollow filter body, thereby leaving a created coarse fraction of the fibre suspension mainly containing fibres in the container outside the filter body. Relative displacement between the liquid jet and the filter material is provided. Said created coarse fraction is dewatered through the wall of filter material, and said dewatered coarse fraction is discharged from the container.

  • Patent number: 5294846
Abstract: Improved apparatus and methods for programming anti-fuse devices utilized in programmable semiconductor chips are described. An anti-fuse device circuit is disclosed wherein an anti-fuse device is connected between two programming transistors, and each programming transistor is connected to a separate voltage supply bus and to a control bus network having, for example, a common control bus or separate control buses. Interconnection structures of anti-fuse devices can be formed and a targeted anti-fuse device can be programmed by connecting a programming voltage to the first associated supply bus, by connecting another voltage or ground potential to the second associated supply bus, and by turning on the appropriate control bus line or lines so that the programming transistors conduct to provide a voltage differential across the targeted anti-fuse device.

  • Patent number: 5295043
Abstract: A low-profile, clip-on heat sink for computer chip packages that releasably engages the side of the package and method for cooling computer chips is disclosed. The sink comprises a contact pad attached to a set of beams. Flanges extend down from the outer edges of the beams. The sink is engaged to the package by the flanges which attach to the sides of the package. When the sink is engaged to the package, the contact pad contacts the computer chip. When the chip is operating, heat flows from the chip to the contact pad. Heat then flows from the contact pad to the beams where it dissipates into the ambient surroundings. The sink may be released from engagement by deforming the flanges.

  • Patent number: 5282899
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a source of dissociated and excited molecules from a working gas-plasma interaction for use in treating substrates such as hydrogen passivation of semiconductors. A plasma is generated under resonant conditions and confined in a reaction chamber by a magnetic mirror trap. The working gas is injected into the reaction chamber to intersect the confined plasma. The interaction forms a neutral species of dissociated and excited molecules and a charged species of ions and electrons. A multipole magnetic field is used to stabilize the plasma and maintain the charged particles of the plasma and the charged species away from the reaction chamber. The charged species is confined to the plasma by the net magnetic field so that the neutral species flows out of the reaction chamber for processing of substrates, e.g., hydrogenation of semiconductor materials.

  • Patent number: 5271394
Abstract: A method for calculating the atrial escape interval. A calculation is made of the average value of the delays between two "P" waves measured over 8 heart cycles, and this average value is taken as the value of the atrial escape interval. The "P" wave is monitored to identify atrial extrasystole so that only competent "P" waves are used in determining the average value and, hence, the atrial escape interval.
